I have this Cub and I just absolutely love it. I did the power 60 upgrade with 100amp esc and bigger prop and it just opened up a whole new world. Now I do recommend if you go that route to replace your rudder and elevator hinge. It might have been only me but during a flight that I was doing some 3D flying not overly nuts cause it's still a Cub my elevator popped off on the left side and I noticed at the end of a loop came out of the loop at the bottom and thank God I was higher than I usually am cause I almost had no response and I also noticed that it yawning to the left. Luckily I landed no damage but I saw the rudder had come off the top and the left side of elevator had completely broken the hinges. Just something to watch out for seeing as how you are flying it and if you go for the upgrade which let me tell you just do it. Awesome video as always with good info..which btw you gave me an idea with that throttle curve..Stay safe brother.

Yeah John if you want to 3D it that is the way to go. Some great mods you've done! I'll rarely fly it like that...just if I get a wild hair. I have 3D planes I like to fly freestlye with (3D, XA, Precision). I've started to ring some of the sport/scale planes out when we review them just to show pilots that may want them for that what they can do stock. I'll still keep an eye on the hinges. Thanks!

I love mine, for full span ailerons, you need to swap the short linkage for the long ones, flaps. I got the noisy flap ailerons of course, but that is alright, I know I can get replacements from a reliable servo company. I had to replace a stuttering elevator servo, so I have a wrecked Bison, one of its servos is what I used. Also swapped out the esc for a 100amp Avian, and swapped out the motor for the Bison Motor. I am running 17x10e Prop now. Need to get a watt meter to maximize, like you taught us. Also had to dremel the cowl, and mod the mounts for motor, and cowl. Got the big du bro tires, mounted, its a beast in the air, I love it. The battery tray is nice, and easy. I love the articulating gear, soaks it up.

I really didn't have 30 mins to spare this morning but once I started watching this video I couldn't stop until the end. I watch quite a few model plane evaluation videos but every time I watch one of yours I find them head and shoulders above the others especially if you are serious about your flying (and as a full-size glider pilot, I am!). Well done, I hope your subscriber base continues to grow, and I look forward to watching more of your stuff. Oh and one minor detail / omission I did notice was what flight duration you got from your Lipo pack. Don't know about others, but I'm always wanting to hear stuff like that (and how warm Lipos are getting, what current ESC is pulling etc). And on a final note, in my opinion there is no greater (and more useful) manoeuvre to practice than sideslipping esp. when landing. You have that one nailed to perfection 👌👍
@ModelAV8RChannel2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike. Man thank you so much for the kind words! That made our day. Comments like yours really let us know all the work is worth it. Full scale gliders...very nice! That is an awesome genre of general aviation. I love to slip everything, and Cubs just don't look right if you don't slip them in to land! Thanks very much for the input as well Mike. I can't tell you the Lipo temps, but not much I fly gets them warm except the EDF's. We always have a set up page that lists our set up, and its always listed in the chapters in the description. It is however only up for a few seconds...we figure if anyone wants to really study it they will hit pause. We may need to increase the time its there if folks are missing it. We usually put the timer setting of our TX to the right of the TX used with that plane on the set up page. I think we fly the Carbon Z Cub for 9 min. on the 6000's. We like to bring the plane down with the cells never below 3.75. Also at the bottom of the set up page we always list the watt meter readings. We include amps, watts, and we do the math to give you watts/lb. Thanks again for taking the time to watch us and comment!

@@ModelAV8RChannel Great to get such a thorough reply from you guys and thanks for those details. I'm just keen to see you make your videos as good as they can because I think you bring a lot of professionalism to the topic of model a/c flying and if my comments can help viewer numbers grow then great. I'm flying an Arrows Husky because the Carbon Cub is just a bit too big to transport fully rigged plus a bit more expensive. The Husky is great but the Cub undercarriage is something I'd love for the Husky to have. Bedtime for me here in UK but keep on rocking out the reviews over there in USA. Making music in the studio is much like making model airplanes, but without the mess. Having filled up my free space on SoundCloud with The M.O.B. G’day Adam. So well presented, thank you. My wish list is that the aircraft. If released again, would be to make the following: Like X-fly, fit inflatable tyres ( tires) Like the Draco & Maule, have a see thru & accessible cockpit. Like the Draco, have thumb bolts x 4 for wing assembly & breakdown with added easy clip in spars. On another subject, i wish a model company could make an easy breakdown plane that we could pack into a suitcase easily & travel with. Now that would be a money spinner! Think Dji type of arm fold. Beautifully flown mate. Well done

I've owned both...still have the CZ Cub. Sold the 150. Cub has better gear and it is a Cub...which I personally prefer. Both fly great. Cub is a bit more aerobatic and a better bush plane because of the gear. 150 is WAY easier to assemble/disassemble at the field and has lights...the Cub does not. I prefer the Cub, but thats just me. The 150 is technically a "better model" and has features many expect today. Cub is old school.

I have flown all prop driven Umx planes Alr gone through two 1.3m carbon cub s2’s and can manage landings in as3x mode but have mastered my landings and flight in safe mode. I love flying in as3x mode doing inverted passes low to the ground and snap roles, blenders ect the few tricks the carbon cub s2 can manage with its low power and throws. I fly off water and and grass I absolutely love my cc s2 1.3m but want to upgrade to this model if you believe I can handle it. I know for a fact I can handle it in the air it is just the Landing that worries me.
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
Hey Carter! Buddy this is my favorite foam bush plane. They fly so good. If you can land the S2 you can land the CZ Cub. Couple of things to be mindful of...the CZ Cub has a good bit of control throw, so in high rates it will be a bit more responsive than the S2. Also when you get into the bigger and a bit more expensive planes it is easy to let that get in your head. Don't worry about it, just fly it. You got this.

Carbon Z Cub hands down. Bigger, more presence, and it flies much better ...as in easier to fly. I enjoyed the challenge the Bison presented. That said it is the hardest to fly well of all the 6s bush planes out there, so it is rewarding when you fly it well, but it is much more pleasurable not to have to work that hard. The CZ Cub is the best 6s bush plane out there in my opinion. Easy to fly and more capable as well. The only advantage I see the Bison having over it is if you fly FPV, the clear windows are a nice feature.

Thomas that is one way to look at it. Another might be to be careful and pay attention to what you're doing. You can still go through your pre-flight check list and be methodical in your prep for the flight. Ten minutes just means you got ten minutes, it doesn't mean abandon everything you usually do, skip safety measures, and hurry. Depending on the models flight time, I can safely prep and fly once or twice in ten minutes.

Very well done Adam, It is my favorite STOL model I own.I agree no lights are a down side. I also agree the model is a touch and go/ landing machine. I often fly a whole battery just doing STOL landings in confined areas. I hope you take the time to do water ops with it. Here is a video of mine doing water ops kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6jKaaOsqt6mpNU Hope you take a minute to enjoy the Adirondack area I fly in. Enjoyed your review and have a safe labor day.

Great bird Adam, love watching your flying, very skilful sir. Looked so calm and enjoyable, such a shame they didn’t put landing lights, they would have really popped. 🫡

Thanks so much Chris! Yes lights would have made it near perfect!
