I love that they lived in their Airstream and "camped" for a few years first to understand their land. As someone who lives full time in an Airstream I thought this was an amazing idea from two women who obviously wanted their home to be part of the forest rather than having a house built with a view of the forest that would require destroying part of it.

Serge P It is hard getting supplies and services in the winter at Acadia. Most people leave and businesses close during the winter. Snow removal on local streets is non existent. They must be a hardy home bound group of people.

As "tree houses" go this one is beautiful. So much more refined than the Atlanta all-glass "tree house." I realized that having windows actually frames the views and makes them like art. I don't know why other viewers seem to resent that these ladies spent money on their dream house.

This ought to be the best small house I've seen. Love the simplicity of it.

I'm curious, what makes people think of this house as small? It's got huge windows, two bedrooms, plenty of space for a shower and bathtub, full-size kitchen, there's a terrace, etc. For me it's a big house, but you and the owners seem to think of it differently. What is it that's small to you? Not trying to be salty, just genuinely interested in this difference in perspective. Thanks!

Ladies suggestion: Take a photo every 6 months out the same window. Do it for a few years to track how your favorite tree grows.

Nicely put. Envy is not a beautiful thing to look at. Let those losers hate as much as they desire. This house is amazing in every way.
@Nightbird.3 жыл бұрын
@@VesaGuardian I like (not love) this house and the lesbian couple in it. But this design isn't for everyone. And the comments section isn't just about praise. So to say people are envious and losers just because they don't like something and say so is the height of ego and elitism. It's obvious this couple has money..but not everything that costs a lot of money is desirable to everyone. Try being a bit more respectful of others tastes and opinions.

There was no mention of water source - well? main near road? Same with electricity - do they have own generator? If so, there goes the quiet factor. Heat? Are they living in this year round with snow in winter or is this a summer place only? Lot of things not addressed in this video when it comes to the practicality of the place besides being set on rock.

This is nice. It's a very small place; but because of the slant on the deck side of the roof- it adds up to about a 2 1/3 to 2.5 story view. The loft also helps to open that space up. Very well planned, and executed. Congratulations! It's a beautiful cabin/home. And yes. Having been dirt poor myself 'born and raised' in NYC surviving 'Alphabet City' in the 70's and 80's to getting my own degrees, to working my own tail off in big 5 firms getting 6 hours of sleep a week while being a road warrior--don't let the haters get to you. Very well done home. And Peter. When you get your own land and sheep, someone will comment on your land and home and say you are 'showing off' and 'rich' also. There are always two sides to every story. Maybe the weed you smoke has made you mad and angry at the world. Let the anger go. Stop the weed. Focus, study, and work hard. And someday you may have your own home too --for others to trash you on when you decide to show your home on KZbin.

this is one of my favorite vids on your channel. i think it's important to show that ideas for tiny houses can scale up, because really the tiny house movement isn't just about designing for less space, but designing the entire space, however big. the mcmansions have a lot of unused, pointless space, that add nothing to light or flow or.... ok i just like that it's a giant fort in the woods!

The time taken considering, loving ,camping and learning about the land certainly paid off. (Like a permaculture site analysis) .This is a really beautiful, well crafted, land respecting home. I really loved every aspect of it. The interplay with the builder was perfect. To be alongside a state forest wilderness, with peaceful surroundings would be bliss. I would have been interested to know about the surrounding flora and fauna? Especially as they are living within a wilderness. Or are they both working in NY and renting it out for much of the time? Great place to retire to. Are they there now sheltering from the terrible covid NY toll? Is there a creek or billabong below the rocky ledge? Where does their water come from? Power come from? Thank you for sharing this.

I would have put a shower head on both sides. That way you don't have to make any compromises, and the extra cost would have been negligible anyway. Also, they probably shower together at times, so that would be very convenient for them.
@andreaandrea67164 жыл бұрын
Gorgeous house and so mindfully built. I like the idea of showering looking out at the trees. Wonderful. Beautiful open space! I am confused by people who lean their pictures against walls these days. I hate this. Put the damn things up on the wall. It isn't hip. It's just lazy... and you can't see them properly. It's also disrespectful to the Artist... like 'you couldn't be bothered.' It's what walls are for. And HOW, pray tell, does it detract from the trees?!?! Hanging them means they won't inadvertently get kicked.
