Love these interview clips. It helps me to build up my knowledge a bit in a time. It's a sustainable learning project for me:-)! Tks.

It is very interesting, everybody is talking about autophagy as a good thing. As it is a cell eating “bad” cells to make better ones. But isn’t autophagy about surviving of a cell by eating itself? For example, cancer cells use autophagy to survive, also, autophagy means breakdown of amino acids, or muscel cells which means - less muscle mass so worse quality of life. Autophagy happens independently of other factors and more of it does not mesan it is better. Just like suppressing mTOR too much is a bad thing, playing with autophagy is also a bad thing. Especially in sickness or by trying to build muscle mass, heal a wound. Am I right? Besides that, thank you for these amazing guests! 🙏

Interesting interview Richard, would it be possible to ask what would inhibit mtor1 other than repamycin. Thanks.

Hi Ankur, thanks for your question. We do talk in more detail on how rapamycin works an what other options there are to inhibit mTOR later in the series. Will be released soon!

Search on "rapalogs" and you'll find others... like everolimus

Do plants create compounds to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi? Would eating a variety of plants have a similar on us?

There's an interesting connection between mTorc1 and Tryptophan, which is a pre-cursor for both the Serotonin and Kynurenine pathways. The Serotonin pathway leads to the production of Melatonin while the Kynurenine pathway leads to the production of NAD. "L-Tryptophan Activates Mammalian Target of Rapamycin and Enhances Expression of Tight Junction Proteins in Intestinal Porcine Epithelial Cells" It seems to me that sleep plays a vital role in health and longevity.

Richard this was great and much improved versus the last one with Dr. Sabatini. In answer to the earlier questions, strong evidence suggest that metformin is an inhibitor of mTOR. It would be interesting to get Dr. Sabatini’s thoughts on the matter. We know you can’t get metformin in Hong Kong. Anyway nice job and was very interesting

Jump on a cheap flight to the Philippines or Thailand and buy at least years supply.

Hi Shirleen, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately we have finished recording with Dr. Sabatini and did not get around to Metformin this time. We will be discussing rapamycin and mTOR inhibition in a video that we will release soon.

@@anthonymason4985 Just order from one of the vendors on Indiamart.com - no prescription, inexpensive (and sadly, untrustworthy). But I lab tested and the non-Biocon sirolimus was good. Metformin also cheap and easy.

@@bchik9856 dear @B Chik you sound like you know a lot. I am really weary about buying on internet and health food stores don’t seem any better. I have been told that they change their expiry date as their products stay in the shelves for a long time. Can you kindly recommend a reliable brand name for NMN and Resveratrol. Thank you so munch.

Dear Richard are you still taking Berberine? If not, can you please tell us why? I am still taking it and would like to know if I should stop.

Hi Simin, thank you for your comment. For berberine, we did try before but due to causing constipation for both of us, we stopped it for a long time already.

@@ModernHealthspan thank you so much dear Richard for taking the time to respond. If I don’t have problem with constipation do you recommend that I continue taking it ? Is it safe enough for long term use?

I'll say it again your looking very fresh faced. A touch of the Benjamin Button effect 👌 hopefully.
