I love this recipe for gyeranmari! It's so simple but looks beautiful and elegant when sliced on a bias 😄💖 Also, I like that you use less eggs. When I made the regular one without the crab meat, I used so many eggs to make a thick roll. Will try this recipe!! Thank you for sharing, Helen~

The recipe I use to make kimchi uses fish sauce instead of the shrimp. I may try using it instead for my next batch. Kimchi and sticky rice is my favorite weekend lunch. I am learning a lot watching your channel. Thank you.

Hi Deb Ketelsen! I completely agree with you! I absolutely love love having kimchi and Korean rice. So simple and yet so satisfying...😋 In the into of my "How To Ferment & Store Your Store Kimchi," I share my simplest and favorite ways to enjoy Kimchi and Korean rice. Here is the link, if you haven't seen it yet. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWqnonyJj6h7f6c I will eventually do a video recipe on How To Make Kimchi but I use both the fish sauce and brined baby shrimp, fresh oysters or fresh squid. It is so cool that you make your own kimchi👍 Thank you for your comment! Looking forward to cooking with you LOTS🤗

Hola llorin morrin! Lo siento pero mi español es terrible. Definitivamente no es lo suficientemente bueno para transcribir mi video. Encendí "Transcripción comunitaria", ¿entonces tal vez alguien que habla bien español e inglés puede agregar la transcripción? (Sí, estoy usando Google para traducir esto). Muchas gracias por ver mi video, aunque no esté en español.

My husband always calls imitation crab meat "string crab"....because he eats it just like string cheese, lol. He'll even write "string crab" down on the grocery list. He's an executive chef too, and we co-own an Asian foodtruck with a friend of ours....now all our employees even call it "string crab" as it's even typed up on the inventory sheet that way by my husband, lol.

Hi Helen Gyeran Mari looks good and easy if you prepare the ingredients early it would take you minutes to make you look gorgeous and very exy with that dress.I love your smiling and funny face glad to see you enjoy your cooking and having great fun.Why did you slice it rather than cut inpieces is it so you get more meat?
@ModernPepper4 жыл бұрын
Hi @Wellington Sing 🙏Thank you, as always 🙏 As for slicing the imitation meat, the one I used comes in long threads of "strings." I also prefer to use long threads of the imitation crab meat, instead of finely chopped, for presentation purposes. But there is no difference in taste, so one can also add the finely chopped imitation crab meat into the egg mixture😉 Thank you for your question👍

Yes grab meat I thought it was bacon in the mix but grab even better

Hi Company with 3! Thanks for watching! Yes, it is crab meat (but imitation crab meat)! BUT precooked bacon bits will work nicely, too👍

I watched the movie, "Mr. Baseball", with Tom Selleck. He was in Japan and he stuck his chopsticks in his rice standing up and the family he was eating with screamed. LOL. Is there any cultural truth to doing that which calls for bad luck?
@ModernPepper4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Ha..😂 In Korean culture, every death anniversary of your loved-one is remembered with a formal ceremony, which includes preparing a meal for the loved one that passed away. And the rice is always presented with two chopsticks stuck in the right bowl. So....this might be the same case for Japanese, but I'm not sure about their culture..

Umm...the screen shows "GaeLanmalee....but she seems to say " GaeRanmalee"....is it only my ears...or is there some mistake there?😅😅

These are phonetic translation of Korean words using the English alphabet. Egg = 계란 계 (actual sound pronounciation is ‘Geh’) 란 (actual sound pronunciation is with ‘L’ sound, nor ‘ran’) It is tricky in that many Korean words are mispronounced because of Google’s spelling using the English alphabet, most of the time butchering the actual pronunciation of Korean words. And depending on the person’s English, proper or lack there of, alphabet sounds, coupled with the person’s proper or lack there of Korean word pronunciation, u’ll see lots of discrepancies. For example, Galbi, is often spelled as Kalbi, but there is no ‘K’ sound in the Korean word for 갈비. So, in my videos, u’ll see phonetic translation of Korean words, which r different from Google’s spelling of Korean words.
