How is Korean soy sauce different? What if you don’t have any but just regular soy sauce?

I must admit, when I first came to Korea I HATED this soup. It was just water with sprouts😖, why even bother. BUT, then one day I got terrible cold and could not really eat anything. Then somebody made it for me and finally I realized how light and comforting it is. Since that incident I love the soup and it always gives me feelings of warmth and comfort. So everybody, don't judge it's simple taste as boring, it's not supposed to be fireworks and shooting stars. It's the taste of home and somebody caring for you❤.

@@CoryASMR Hi 👋. The stone can retain super high temperature and maintain it. As for cracking, if you put the hot stone bowl in the sink and add cold water, yes it will most likely crack. I don't eat shellfish, do you have a recipe for maybe a salted anchovy paste/sauce for kimchi? Or is there a more authentic substitute? I follow a Kosher diet. The kimchi I buy now just uses fish sauce (from anchovy). I don't want to mess up my first homemade batch that I'm planning to make soon. Thank you for all your recipes.
@ModernPepper
@ModernPepper Күн бұрын
@@kfitz4520 Hi 👋 Just skip it. Don’t over add extra fish sauce in place of the salted shrimp. Adding too much fish sauce can ruin the taste of the recipe. Taste the kimchi paste and if it is not salty enough for your liking, add some salt.

I make mine with a drizzle of toasted sesame oil (instead of sugar)for that sweet that pairs well with the spicy kimchi. I also add cheese on top of the rice, but under the fried egg. It's so good. I'm not sure if it's still considered Korean fried rice because of the sesame oil. But it's certainly very good. The flavors pop in your mouth with sweet, sour, spicy... yummy.

I Must say I tried this exact method and put half rice and half wheat flour and boiled it for 13 minutes after shaping it and it turned out very good it’s not as chewy as normal tteok but it’s a great way to make tteok from scratch without making a mess😂❤
@ModernPepper
@ModernPepper 4 күн бұрын
@@AylaAlnabulsi Hi 👋 Thanks for cooking with me. Btw, boiling for 13 minutes would make the rice cake too soft. As demonstrated, boil until it floats to the top then another minute or two. Then let it cool down on a strainer and store in the fridge so it hardened, creating that chewy texture. Also as noted, this homemade method will not be chewy like the store bought rice cakes that are processed through industrial grade machines (rice cakes are processed 2x or more through these machines).
