I'd like to hear that too.....mojotone was a bit closed off in that upper mid, and definitely had too much high 'fizz'. Natural break-in or even that light sanding method could cure that straight away if I'm correctly remembering how that other test went.

Quite a difference still. The actual Greenback has a lot low mids coming through, in a way where the highs seem to be more fixed or glued into the lows. The Mojotone has a mid dip, which could probably be EQd back in, but it separates the lows from the highs in this recording.

I have a Marshall 1974x combo. I replaced the original speaker with a MojoTone British Vintage BV-25M speaker, and it sounds far better, to me, than the stock speaker. I tried a lot of different speakers, including PVC Scumback, etc. And, the MojoTone speaker won easily. It's affordable, too. Notably, I found the 60 watt Celestion NEO Creamback to sound very similar to the stock Celestion 20 watt Greenback re-make speaker in the 1974x. So close, I didn't really hear a significant difference. So, I placed a Celestion Creamback Neo in my 1974cx extension cabinet and run it with the combo that has the MojoTone speaker in it. Together, sounds great. The 1974cx is now a powerful but light-weight extension cabinet that I can use with different amp heads and combos as an extension cabinet. Solves a lot of issues for me, and provides great tone, too!

Really like the Mojotone. It has a little less high end, which is my preference. I'm guessing that when the Mojo is broken in it will be even better. They sound very close, at least to this listener, and both sound great. This is a great and useful speaker demo. It's very helpful considering that it's almost impossible to "try out" speakers. With anything this subtle, good headphones are a must when evaluating. The other thing is that it's easier(for me at least) not to have comparisons of, say, ten speakers. I get much more out of demos of one or two against a benchmark like the '68. when there are too many I kind of lose my place, if you will.Thanks.

Nice work, Johan. The Mojotone should break in nicely. Looking forward to the Scumback and Weber comparisons. One day you might consider a Weber Ceramic (or Alnico) 1230-55. Sounds like a Pre-Rola 55Hz, but the cloth surround gives it a more open/airy high end, and I think it's actually smoother than the Legacy 55Hz version. You can choose the ceramic magnet size, power handling, Z, dustcap, and doping as well. Might be the best 55Hz speaker made for amplified blues/soul. I'd probably go with 50oz, 30w or 100w, paper, and Pre-Rola. The cloth surround absorbs some ~3kHz range, so the 50oz brings the highs without the harshness. Don't know if I'd risk the 80oz magnet. Might have nice clarity, though.

Hejsan Johan. I'm looking forward to hearing the Mojo tone when broken in; I only hear the Pulsonic "breath" more openly. I don't remember right now, there is a way to break in a speakers faster; connected to a tone generator and let it run (I just forgot what frequency) I have a question, Johan. @ 3:04, you show a repaired model. I've got a November 1972 Pulsonic that was damaged during transport. I can see a patch on the cone; did you use a hot glue or what? It seems like the dust cap has been reattached also.

Johan, have you ever thought about making IR's of your favorite speakers and cabs using your mic techniques? I think with your attention to detail they could be great sellers. Most are generally quite poor.

@@JohanSegeborn Excellent. I think they would. Some with close mic and some with the room mic mixed in would get that tone we love.

Mojotone vs Scumback would be an interesting comparison. I have 2 scumbacks and i love them (H55 and J75) but the Mojo's sound great here too!

great comparison. Johann try to break it in quick with a sine wave like 20hz or 30hz sth the speaker cant reproduce so you don‘t hear a thing. And then let it play and move for 2-3 days. Make sure it does not make to much movement so it won‘t break. i think we all would love to hear it broken compared to that clips from here

The only thing they’re missing is some 500-700hZ honk, and I bet one of those Studio series 2x12 cabs would bring that out in them. Have you ever tried the Mojotone M and H in that can? That’s the setup I have.

Johan, I love all of your videos! Thank you so very much for providing real videos that help discern tone! God Bless! What do you prefer if running a 100w Superlead/Super Bass? The 25w or the 30w? Do you think that their 30w measures up as well as the 25? The 25 seems pretty spot on, what would you prefer for a 30w (Hendrix, Page) style speaker? Would it be Mojotone? All vintage speakers aside. Thank you so very much in advance. God Bless

Mojo has a bit of a Shazizz and ringing over tones.. To be fare the Pulsonic has over 50 years of playing time on her, sounds more defined and relaxed. I have a Mojo still in the box, bought it used hoping it was broken in.. Will be putting it in my Black Face Pre CBS deluxe Reverb.
