This was definitely a cool dive. Have you thought about carrying a small sifting shovel or bucket? That might help you collect the targets easier. The ring was cool. I'm pretty sure it's an emerald. I think Tahoe is the only body of water I'd consider diving in. It's clear enough. I was amazed as to how many crawdads were in one spot. Thank you for sharing your dives, they are fun to watch.

lake of the sky appears to be a virgin area. I would expect areas near the dam to be good or any phased out beaches or marinas. The washoe tribe was there and fished. should be points in shallower areas and along banks. Silver Comstock Mine. Old logs are worth $$$$$ and logging was big during mine operation and the lake was used for all transportation. Old railway depot at tahoe tavern area. There were railroad tracks that surrounded the lake and tourists were dropped off at a multitude of stops. There was a myth that because of the altitude, you coudn't float in the lake. In 1950 that was dispelled. you can adjust where you look based on that.

Something I learned years ago thought I should pass it along...A person I knew lived in India for a year.. The Natives of this country are either extremely wealthy or opposite extremely poor.. zero middle class! The wealthy enjoy showing off their wealth as this gives them status to others..so it is nothing to see them wearing on one hand a huge emerald..ruby and a diamond ring and six other rings on the same hand of equal value.. However.. the jewelry doesn't have stamps.. that is something that one would see in the US and other parts of the world. .In fact pure gold they consider stamps in jewelry to be cheap.. This isn't the only region or country like this Egypt and other places are the same zero stamps in the jewelry.. Therefore.. on one of your finds ..if you locate jewelry without stamps this could prove to be a good find rather than a valueless item...Good Luck.. in your future hunts...nice video!

@mokpot7 жыл бұрын
The bottom it sand, in spots there is a silty layer no more than a 1/4 inch deep. just a few waves of the hand and you hit the sand. Now I will confess that the idea that the area is an ash dump did NOT occur to me at all, I suppose it could very well be, is that where the ring came from? The area has dozens of engine blocks that were used as anchorage weights. Thanks for tuning in!

No one puts a low grade Emerald in a 22K setting . My mom was in the jewelry business and I learned a lot from her . That's a score . It's a more modern setting 1 to 15 years or so and the stone is over 2 carats . That ring probably cost at least 4 grand in a retail store and if purchased up there closer to 6 grand . Depending on the quality of the stone it could be 2 to 3 times that value in a retail high end store . Check for makers marks , if it's signed by a well known maker then you really scored . Good job .

If you ever find a nice silver watch with diamonds on the South Shore near Popes Beach - hit me up. I miss it. :( . Also- ever do Fallen Leaf Lake? I bet under the docks would be a hot spot as well as where the water joins with Eagle Falls.

Sure thing, who is the maker of said watch?

Mokpot you could use a scoop sifter to help you with all the small things and coins in the sand
@mokpot4 жыл бұрын
Tried it several times. THe problem is that when submerged, as I push the scoop into the sand it pushes me away.

Great videos! How do you like your Seahunter Mk2? Same thing I use on my channel. I love it! Dig everything with it. But it sure goes deep!

I like it fine... perfect size for diving. you have to dig most everything... the tone differences are subtle... I will be checking your channel out, thanks for tuning in!

Nice ring ! I found a real nice gold necklace and cross with my Garret , on land though , love the scuba hunts ! P.S. I live by Hangtown , are you a local ?
@mokpot7 жыл бұрын
I am 30-35 minutes from Sac. so I suppose that would be local. I usually roam the Sierras to the Tahoe area, down to Monterey area. I land hunt occasionally but prefer the water, less competition. I appreciate you taking time to comment!

where they dumped the ashes, you might find molten gold teeth - if the crematory worker who put teh ashes into the urn hasn´t "found" them before you...

Dude.... gruesome!

@@mokpot why? what is the problem? this gold teeth served the person who wore them as long a s they lived, and now they don´t need them any more. gold is and has always been in a recycling process, so chances are pretty high that also your own wedding band at least partly consists of recycled gold from such a source amongst a lot of others (like broken jewellery, old computer parts...).

@@mokpot I was at a night time jewellery class once and this creepy dentist guy was melting gold teeth in the class to “make a ring for his wife” ewwwww the thought of it!!

Have you ever tried just using a sieve? It would work great in sand.
@mokpot4 жыл бұрын
Yes Gayle I have, and at this very spot too... When diving you are essentially weightless, so trying to push it into the sand has the effect of pushing me away from the spot. Bracing is very difficult and I find fanning to be more effective. Thanks for tuning in!

Hi Debora, You are a diver? If you live in the U.S. most dive stores have connections to dive clubs or sometimes individuals looking for buddies to dive with. If you live in Northern California, I have been thinking about doing a channel meet up to dive in Monterey Ca. If there is anyone interested

I have a scoop and I have used it in a few videos. The problem with using a scoop is that when I push it into the sand I get pushed away from it... I am almost weightless in the water. Like an Astronaut in space pushing something.
