Here's a Slayer reaction for you lovely people. It's been a while since I did a Slayer reaction. Today I did South Of Heaven. I am really starting to enjoy the vocals more now I have listened to other songs from them. There are so many gems in the Heavy Metal scene that I cannot wait to listen to.
Here's my reaction to hearing Slayer - South Of Heaven for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

True metal fans will never tell you to F**k off from our music. As a metal community, we love what different metal brings to us, we are all open minded, and we welcome new listeners with open arms and ears, and, many like yourself are quite surprised by what they hear when they actually listen. The song South of Heaven delves deep into the darker realms of human nature and society’s decline. It speaks of a bleak future underpinned by chaos, distrust, and a loss of morality. The lyrics depict a dystopian world where evil prevails, and society takes a turn for the worse. The song’s meaning is open to interpretation, but one interpretation suggests that it embraces the concept of rebelling against religious norms. It could represent a rebellion against religious authority and an exploration of the dark side of human nature (Tom Araya went on to confirm to KERRANG magazine that “South Of Heaven is how I imagine Hell on Earth, and the decline of mankind”).and the Exploration of the dark side of human nature. I remember getting this album in 1990 still listen to it to this day... A Fantastic Record.

Let me tell u, I thought we were cursed trying to see Slayer in concert. Everytime we tried something major happened. Our first was in 91 we went with a large group and before we even made it in, our driver, our only ride was arrested for selling A and left us with no ride home. 2nd time fights broke out every where, crazy really. But nothing will top The Who Tragedy of 79 what a great concert with a devastating end. We never even knew what was happening untill we came out and saw the deadly tragedy. But from 72 to 85 was the best times for concerts. Thanx for the memories. Peace

I just started high-school(grade 8) and found a burnt disc that said slayer south of heaven on it. I can still remember listening to it for the first time. It literally scared me. I'm now 39 and still love slayer. Slayer found me lol

7:30. That totally reminds me of that Billy Joel song where he says, I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints. I own this album not only on cassette tape, but on cd as well. I've heard this song sooo many times, and that thought never crossed my mind. That's why I love listening to reactions! It opens up new perspectives from fresh ears that you might not have heard before

South of Heaven is the second and slowest album out of three albums with Def Jam and the producer was Rick Rubin. With Seasons in the Abyss they stepped on the gas pedal with speed and heaviness on their sound. You can tell in Raining Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss that their sound is Crisp, and Lombardo’s fast changes are seamless. Definitely one of the most underrated metal bands in history, they never Sold Out their sound and their fans! Long Live Slayer! RIP Hanneman
