The little boy was her guardian sent to take her to "a place where she's loved." The other children at the end were all "concrete angels," lives that were ended far too soon by child abuse. The tombstones represent all that is left of their lives...concrete angels.

The little boy was dead too. He came to help her through her last day and night of hell on earth. He took her to paradise with the other children who died from abuse. This song shreds my heart to pieces because it seems like lately their are so many little kids missing, murdered by their parents, starved to death, kept in cages or basements. This has to stop happening to the babies. 😢😢

All those babies were concrete angels themselves there to meet her little spirit with the love she didn't get on earth. I was an adult and child protective services worker in Alabama for 25 years. The things I saw will never be erased from my mind and I still have bad dreams about them. The teachers are our first line of defense and they are mandated by law, as are we, to report abuse, neglect and exploitation. Her life could have been saved if her teacher had reported. 😢. Thank you for your sweet reaction of a real mother. 🎉🎉❤❤

Seeing the teacher see the bruises and know they can only be from one thing but opt to ignore it, always fills me with fury, because I know it happens every day in real life. People ignore the bruises. They ignore the red flags.

New sub ❤. I feel ya momma. This song gets me ugly crying every time. The parts about the teachers and neighbors ignoring abuse happen more often than people realize. I was lucky, I had one family in my neighborhood who may not have called anyone when they heard the screaming, but they did the best they could to show me that someone did love me. They'd have me over for dinner, and the daughters would bring me over to do my hair. I tried my darnest to get the oldest sister to give me an afro like hers, lol. She had to explain that my hair wouldn't do like hers, lol. Angela and family, thank you ❤!

This is a very sad song about child abuse. The Mom understands the song. I don't think her son understands the song. Country music is wonderful. They tell stories that people can relate to.

I think it must be generational. My wife and I were both put off when we saw him smiling near the end when it would be the last thing you would do if you absolutely. Understood what you were seeing and what you were learning. I'm extremely worried that the attitude of people of his generation may not be able to be affected by reality because of the amount of input they get. From things like video games et cetera. They inadvertently end up becoming unable to understand pain of others. I suppose to pain that they themselves feel.

The little boy was an angel waiting to take the little girl and the other kids at the end of the video, they were all kids that were killed through domestic violence. Back in the 60's and 70's when I was growing up, unless you were put in the hospital or killed, it was considered a family matter. CPS was almost unheard of; we kids didn't have any rights. I'm in my mid 60's and the oldest of five, we were both physically and mentally abuse, but my brother's and I were strong enough to break the pattern, none of us abused our kids in any way shape or form.

Angela Carter was Martina's niece, who died at Martina' sister's hands. She was 7 years old. Here's another one by Martina called Independence Day. Tidbit of info: When Martina sings near the burning house, she knew that they only had one chance to get that shot, so she continued singing, even though her back got scorched from the heat. They only found out, when Martina finished that shot and told them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoezoXSQbsSkd9k You should listen to Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll. Another true story. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH3LZqmYd7Gjrqs
