Oh-wah-ah-ah-ah! It is a beautiful arrangement, although I think the live version is much better. If you want a much "heavier" metal ballad, I'd highly recommend Dark tranquility - Forward Momentum: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5uunqF5fM2bi9U There's harsh vocals and clean vocals - and it feels like the song is way too short, although it's full length. Also there is a really nice Middle-Eastern/Oriental metal band called Orphaned Land that makes very unquiet music. They also have ballads like ORPHANED LAND - Let The Truce Be Known kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3a4e5-umtulfc0 and ORPHANED LAND - Brother kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6Szk2RjqrV8n8U but also much cooler songs...

Art Garfunkel with a voice of an Angel sang a song of what people were doing to each other, David Draiman with the voice of an Avenging Angel with sword held high and eyes filled with fire sang a song of what people had done to each other. Their first album, The Sickness, is just iconic to me. I’ve heard this song probably 200 times, and I cried with you. I cry every time. They also have covers of If I Ever Lose My Faith by Sting, and Land of Confusion by Genesis that are both so good. Their whole body of original work is really great. I hope you check out more! No one with a soul can not be moved by this rendition of of this song, David Draiman really uses the power of his voice to convey the anguish he feels of a society falling into silence as we stop talking to the person beside us & instead turn away from each other (the message of the original song) & into our cell phones. l love this video version more than the live performance as the graphics add so much to it like 5:33 where people with something to say are waiting for someone to say it that will be heard & the musicians are on their way. Granted the live version has more grit/intensity due to the fact that David was during the performance but this is my go to version. Music is magic & this is magical & needs to be heard more.

YRS old Mom the first time I heard this it had the same effect on me. Disturbed helped me hear the lyrics in a way I never had. This is why Paul Simon said "The song now belongs to them". A vocal coach reactor said that the S&G version was a warning and Disturbed's version was their way of telling us we did not heed the warning. I loved your reaction and I wanted to give you some artist I think you would really enjoy. Morissette Amon. Start with "Never Enough" on the 107.5 WISH bus. Back that up with "Akin Ka Na Lang" from the same WISH bus. It is in Tagalog but has great subtitles. Angelina Jordan. Listen to her at 9yrs old doing "I Put A Spell On You". Then go to her AGT audition doing "Bohemian Rhapsody". It will make you hear this song in a whole new way that I didn't think possible. K Z Tandingan, Please check out both versions of "Rolling In The Deep" on The Singer 2018 and the WISH bus. This woman can perform. I look forward to your next reaction and PLEASE BE WELL.

When Paul Simon heard David perform this on the Conan show, he made a point of emailing him to let him know how impressed he was and went further by directing his fans on all his social media accounts to this performance! 👏😍 Apolgies to David - but I have a recommendation for you to discover someone who has been claimed to have the best voice in the world by everyone who has discovered him. Briefly, his name is Dimash Kudaibergen, from Kazakhstan, born in 1994, height 192cm, has a voice that covers over 7 octaves, is classically trained. Dimash was catapulted into popularity in 2017 when he competed at the The Singer competition in China. He was drawn as a wildcard to enter, and was the first ever non-Chinese and the youngest ever contestant to perform AND he was first to start (no pressure!) …. this is the performance that captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight and brought Dimash to the attention of the world - all of us with our jaws on our chests. He sings in 13 different languages and plays 7 different instruments. NB: this is a 2017 performance and every single one from then to the present is as perfect and mind-blowing!🔥🚀😱!! Here's the link to SOS (d’un terrien en détresse - translation: SOS (an earthling/human in distress) which comes from a famous 1978 Canadian-French rock/punk opera called Starmania. The video has a brief background story to the song and competition. Enjoy!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHW7ZHmeot6Bl8U He is magnificent. ☮❤ Sea Point, Cape Town

Disturbed it quite a classic "heavy metal" band, that does a lot of speedy guitar riffs with distortion, screaming, growling but most of the time melodic singing to quite an agressive kind of music. Disturbed is one of the 'must know' bands when you call yourself a metalhead. maybe not as famous as iron maiden, ACDC or manowar or alike, but they've got a lot of really heavy songs with catchy hooks. especially their riffs. When i first heard "The Sound of silence" i thought right before - really ? they dared to 'metalize' one of the greatest rock ballades of all time ? (beside stairway to heaven and hotel california) and then i suddenly bursted out in tears. So much passion, so much anger, dissapointment and fear - this whole series of emotions packed into a song... a COVER song.... it instantly became my most beloved cover song of all times. PERIOD. it instantly became to me, even better than the original. it instantly became the new "the one song" to show to people who dont like metal. Before that i had some nightwish songs to show but THIS totally blew me away and hit me cold and unprepared. it still gets me today when i hear that song.

The original S&G version was to softly sung for what the song was saying. Which was about people not speaking up against the injustice in the world. I think this version more accurately portrays the intent of the song and says something about the break down AND Cancel Culture caused by the internet in the words "People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never shared. No one dared disturb the sound of silence.".

I spent 2 months in a monastery listening only to this song a few years ago. It makes me think of those lonely nights in a far away land.

My mom who passed away shortly before her 70th birthday in 2021 was I big fan of Simon and Garfunkel. I even got to take her to see them in the early 2000’s. While she loved the original version of this song, she very much favored this version. It evoked extreme feelings that touched her soul deeply. I have to most definitely agree with her that this is one cover that was done gave so much more emotion to the song. Thank you for your reaction to this cover 🙏🏻❤️

Simon and Garfunkel tried to warn us. He somehow is full of anger that we did not hear.

Disturbed is a Heavy Metal band but oddly enough, David Draimon (the lead singer) is classically trained as a cantor, (someone who sings in a synagogue) Great reaction, I always love seeing people get blown away by this rendition of this! lol Simon actually told David he loved and was amazed by his version, and that he was passing the torch and it's his now. ^.^ BTW you want to discover some music that will ALWAYS start conversations, You should do asome reactions to a Independent rapper named Tom MacDonald, I have seen people from the age of 1-90 yrs old listen to him, and people who don't like or have never listened to rap before. He has a range of Rap, Hip Hop, Rock, and he does a range of topics, political, inspirational and funny songs.I subscribed and hope you will do a reaction to him. ^.^
