I’m actually a college dropout, got married, had 2 kids.. busted my ass for Lowes for 5 years delivering appliances for $13.50 an hour, had good benefits. Then worked for one of the largest insurance companies on the east coast in a middle tier position making around $40,000 a year.. worked there for 5 years.. Covid Hits and they lay me off… back to square one..So now I’m in welding school. Loved that you brought that up. Made me feel like I’m on the up, just gotta get through it.

Underwater weilding is where it is at. Both my older brothers and my stepdad are weilders. For the work they do I feel is underpaid. And went a different path. To be fair they make $25 an hour, and I make $20 an hour at both jobs I work, we put in about the same hours of work a week, and I make more than all of them. If you go intro weilding don’t stop at the minimum, you do underwater wielding you’ll be retired in your late 40’s through early 50’s if you are good with money and save some. Don’t let lifestyle creep on you

In these uncertain times, it's more important than ever to have a solid understanding of how to manage your finances, invest wisely and navigate economic downturns. But my primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $240k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings are lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains everyday, I need a remedy.

Georgetown got her her first job in finance. She said the way to learn about finance is to work in finance, so her Georgetown degree was absolutely worth it. Her entrepreneurship came out of a specific, upward path via finance firms. She didn't have a product to bring to market, so the kind of entrepreneurship we have become accustomed to hearing about (software, gaming, social media) was not her background. It's apparent that her personality and drive are the elements that took her to her current situation, and arguable, those cannot be taught.

Codie is 37, in her 20s you needed the degree and the letters after your name to climb the corporate ladder. For the current and future generation, she talks about experience will matter more. Moreover, with her growth and grit mindset, this lady was gonna succeed either way. Some will say she got that from her education or her experience; or maybe she got the experience because of her mindset. People will always argue the chicken or the egg. Who cares. It’s all protein. Just eat.

@@ninopenon8305So you’re saying just ignore a very big point that refutes the ideas she brings up? Lol. School gave her the preparation and skills she needed to get that far. Some can be credited to her own ambition but we can’t just ignore the fact that she had a lot of help and telling people that they don’t need it to make it.

I think that we were never taught about the details of money because no teacher out there would be teaching if they knew how to run businesses. More now understand money, however few can grasp the new concept of what was instilled for so long in our brains. I want to hit my head and forget what I used to think about money. I am just starting my second business which is scary but a risk I need to take to understand my next level as a leader not so much a business manager. I need to switch to Owner mode. Learning money is that step I am missing to "get there". Owning a business and understanding how it generates income is the true trick. Is it Cash Positive or Cash Flow..... such a big difference between the 2.

Graham just fyi... your cameras are focusing on the mic and not the eyes. The eyes are out of focus when you watch your vid on a big screen for both sides but the mic is sharp as can be.

When señor Graham asked whether the American Dream was dead, he hit the ball out of the park. The conversation had already been great between the three of them, what followed was icing on the cake of life. tHanks for the video!

I always found her content too click baity and like she just wanted to be an influencer but wow she is smart. I can definitely tell she did her homework about this podcast and how she brought up what other guests have said. Idk if I'll jump into watching her still but my respect for her after watching this episode is through the roof.

The average welder is nowhere near 170k. Many probably make that but median is probably like 50-60k

20:09, I'm actually in this role and upper salary range without a marketing degree. What's greatly helped my career is the contextual applicability of said practices, rather than traditional educational merit + networking. Nowadays, there's tons of companies offering real-world experience that will provide a lot more relevant utility, in comparison to a four-year institution. You also have to factor in the speed at which an industry changes over a given time. Marketing is quite fast-paced and ever-evolving, which makes it hard to justify spending so much time on a degree in an industry that's going to be different 24-36 months from now. At the present, you're probably better off finding an internship with strong career trajectory that aligns with your goals and/or taking the entrepreneurial route after gaining some experience - instead of going to college.

I would be curious to see where she's getting the 170k average welding salary from. I have known a few welders in my life and they've all been lower middle class ish. Quick Google search says average welders in Texas make 44k a year.

Def. not the norm for sure. but in welding you can make $150k+, you need to be 1. good at welding, and 2. likely spending lots of time in camps/on the road. They'll get paid hourly, per diem, and some other shit so it does add up as long as your not blowing it on drugs/booze/toys that many do. As for the trades, yah it's pretty common to make $100k+ when your a journeyman electrician/plumber/etc, not only is your hourly rate $40-50+, you have ability to do side jobs on your time off, so that all adds up. Now it varies region to region as America has a pretty wide range for pay in trades, someone in New York union will be paid much higher than someone in Georgia

I mean to me the reality seems to be that how good your finances are is spending habbits more than anything. Most people I know who have college degrees are broke af too, even the ones using their degrees. Meanwhile I have a large amount of people in my life who are entrepreneurs who have well above 6 figures in net worth. @dontdoit6986

@@brianpereira807 I don't doubt that some people can make 6 figures in a welding trade, but to say the average salary is 170k essentially implies that for every welder making 44k, there's another welder making 300k. I just find that hard to believe.

Ya that is definitely not the average. You can make over 100 with years of experience and 170 if you’re working at like refineries working 7 days a week for long periods

Recruting companies dont get pay that much. The fee might vary from one firm to another but definetly not more than 50% of the annual salary. And yes, in the contract says the candidate must be working for certain amount of time (usually 6 months)
