This is so sad. Her friend Paula should be ashamed of herself. Why do couples go back to live together when they are planning to take a divorce. Very bad decision by her lawyer, too. I can't believe that Paula wasn't found guilty. He got only 18 years, really .

He's absolute scum, but as a woman I have even MORE choice words for women like her "close friend" Paula. Repugnant harpies like Paula, are so desperate for affection, attention and a boost to their self-esteem lack value to society. Period. Poor Sharon. Stabbed in the back and murdered by a useless narcissist.Years later after hearing about this case, it still sticks in my mind. HG Tudor is magnificent in breaking down such monsters. For me, if only I knew then what I know now. There's a place in hell for women like Paula. She got away with contributing to Sharon's death and terrible void left in her family! Sadly 16 is the consent age there so there was only so much that they could’ve done . I’ve seen people who were raised well and displined , grow up to do the most unimaginable things that their parents cautioned them against . It’s sad but that’s the reality.

I’m confused about the divorce settlement 🤔 Where I come from (Sweden) if you’re married, your assets are split 50/50 unless there is a prenuptial agreement. If the house was worth 400 000 pounds, then he owed her 200 000, whether he sold it or not, and half of whatever his guitar collection was worth. In court, she would have been granted this - or at least 300 000 pounds, plus the value of cars, furniture etc etc, in addition to child support. I don’t see how he could get away with offering her just 45 000?

As the parent of a sixteen-year-old, you should say, no. My daughter is now 20 and well-adjusted. We as parents loved her and set reasonable boundaries. We also had consequences - no spanking, that is just abuse but consequences if she seriously overstepped the rules. You are the parent of your child and you set the rules. She was too young to go away with a man of that age at 16. If my adult daughter was missing I would be at the police station every day until they did something. I would not be so passive. I feel dreadfully sorry for the father who wanted to believe the best in people. Gary should have got a minium of 30 years. What an utter schemer and loser.

She wasn't quite 16 as her father said "coming up for 16" so yes I agree with you 100%. No way would I have let my teenage daughter go anywhere with a man, let alone go to another country! Teenagers need boundaries and its the job of parents to provide them.
@davidc3839
@davidc3839 10 ай бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more. I spent my career as a social worker and the problem children were the ones who had been brought up with poor parenting. Children need to be loved and to have a structured life where there are clear boundaries. Of course, they break those boundaries and that is part of learning. At worst I put my daughter's toys or phone in the loft. I used to work with children who had been given no guidance or boundaries and they struggled in life. Struggled to get a job and to stay out of prison.@@nolajacobs6730

While I acknowledge and regret their suffering and loss, her parents had limited parenting skills. When a man twice as old as their 16-year-old daughter invites her on a folie a deux and her father waffles, he lost their daughter.

Possibly. Consider the protestation of a 16 year old girl - WE have no idea how the dynamics played out in their otherwise peaceful household. Throw a man, love, and a teenager in the mix and the parents don't stand a chance - for they don't KNOW anything...and even if they did, teenagers, in general defer to complete strangers and questionable friends..
@aprilshowers769
@aprilshowers769 8 ай бұрын
At age 16 the only thing that waffles is the legal system. Here in the U.S. police really don't persue when someone that age wants to be with an adult. They bring them back to their parents a time or two and then throw their hand in the air with situation. The parents can file a lengthy court proceeding, then by then the child is almost 17. Older teenagers are tricky and not always a slam dunk in the courts.

Then she moved back into the house with him knowing full well she was divorcing him and he was actively trying smear her knowing she would get more in the divorce when she did? It would be nice if one damn time any documentary actually held these women accountable for making every choice they possibly could to put themselves in these evil sociopaths sights and then continually encouraging them to do what true sociopaths do when thier madness takes over. They aren't innocent. They chose to be there way more often than not. Doesn't mean they deserved it. They didn't. What they did do was maximize the probability of something bad happening to them by continuously making poor choices.

It does nothing to disprove anything I said. Those of us who don't have the luxury of an entire system built to allow us to avoid accountability for our choices understand that every one of those choices come at a cost. That is exactly why using logic and reason to make rational and informed decisions is so important. If she was being logical she wouldn't have married or started a family with a man who proved he wasn't stable. She had every choice in the situation and continually made poor ones. She didn't deserve what happened to her but every choice she made increased the probability of something terrible happening when that bill she couldn't avoid came due. You call it victim blaming. WTF?? This girl was only 15 (he says she was "coming up to 16") when this grown man starts in with her?? I am totally blown away by this. What parent would allow this to go on?? I can't believe what I'm hearing. These parents allowed their 15 year old daughter to go on a trip with this guy to Canada by themselves??? If this had gone on in the USA, this pedo would've been arrested and imprisoned. Even if I lived in a place where this were legal, there is no way in hell I'd allow this to continue; I certainly wouldn't resign myself to the idea that there was nothing I could do to stop it.

Those cops really f*cked up by returning her car (in the midst of an investigation!) to her slimy husband WITHOUT CHECKING IT FOR BLOOD, GUNSHOT RESIDUE, ETC.! Of course slime ball immediately did a thorough cleaning and vacuuming job. What incompetence! That so-called friend of Sharon's had better get time in jail for blatantly lying to police about the bag of drugs and a "boyfriend" that never existed. She's a right shrew, that one! I wouldn't doubt it one bit if the stress of her daughter marrying her groomer affected her mom's immune system and she got cancer. He could have sold those damned guitars and sold the house and given Sharon $100,000 (not nearly enough!) considering SHE was the only one that ever had a freaking job,throughout that hellish marriage. But no, he'd rather MURDER Sharon, after trying to smear her good name. This episode just triggered my anger something fierce!

The Karate trip to Canada did it for me. Garry was a predator from the get go so that marriafe would never have worked out. His subsequent involvement with Paula also proves Predator. Paula should be totally ashamed of herself. She was a true Judas.

Almost 16 is 15, and at 15, it is a crime for him to engage in an intimate relationship with her, and considering he's her teacher, she has to be 18. A call to the police would have been the appropriate response in my book. I've raised 3 daughters, I know of what I'm speaking. Imo, that is the only correct response.

Think we’re far more aware of grooming nowadays & so are the police. Remember what they told the father when he tried to report her missing? Thankfully times have changed & we learn all the time.

No, it was 18 years then they took 2 years off on appeal. However, it's Life with a _minimum_ of 16 years, which means he will have to go before the parole board - release is not automatic.

The phrasing in the narration puts all the blame on Sharon (i.e.She made a terrible decision, etc.) Gary is the one who made the fatal decision- he decided to murder Sharon. Yes, Sharon put herself in harms way (unknowingly) but the blame should be on Gary!! It's offensive.
