I have to say that gas fill station is expensive. during 2018 my cost of lpg ranges from 52.7 to 57.9 my convertion cost under 1000 pound and in two years i have saved over 1,600 so apx 15 mth at 8,000 miles a year if you fuel up and look for cheapest price as you do for petrol then you save faster. and it also depends how fast the car switched from petrol to gas and if you have it set if at temperature it switches over to gas if you stop for few minutes and restart the engine. my 2018 saving was 850 pound over buying petrol.

Petrol here is 116.9¢/L Canadian (or 132 for premium). LPG here is 94.9¢ Canadian per petrol liter equivalent. No brainer if you drive a lot. You save 10¢ per liter petrol equivalent - to pay off a $3000 conversion, you'd need to replace 30,000 liters of petrol (or less if you used to use premium. LPG is a high test fuel, so cars that need premium are ideally suited to LPG conversions).

what about lpg in 2021 ? seems just less and less lpg cars on autotrader. I am thinking to convert my Mazda 2 Sport. I was told there is a place in Birmingham. 4 cylinder car would cost £800 for King lpg or £950 BRC lpg, price seems not bad

The answer is yes, You can switch from lpg to petrol or petrol to lpg while you are driving, But you always start the car on petrol, or the car does that automatically, At least that's how my lpg converted car worked anyway...

I have a citroen berligo lpg conversion, done when built. I rang 2 citroen dealerships to try and get the lpg system serviced as I am sure it must need it, just bought it. But they couldn't tell me, even though they built it. So any idea of anywhere I could take it to be serviced? I am in East Sussex. Thanks!

just go to google and type in - lpg conversion east sussex - and get a list there is also a book you can buy that shows all filling and service sites. there are 2 things that help lpg cars run better 1 - clean spark plugs and 2 clean air filter. doing this deals with 99 per cent of drive problems I have had lpg cars for years and have not really had lpg service as there is little to check there is an lpg filter but it does not seem to get as dirty as a fuel filter does since lpg is in a sealed tank not open to the air so nothing can drop in it

@@davidsworld5837 Thanks for the reply. Yeah I was trying lpg servicing, that brought me nothing at all anywhere around my area. But tried conversion and now have one just up the road in Lewes, so that is cool, thanks. I did a full straight service recently, but believe there is a couple of filters that need replacing within the actual lpg system itself, so I have read anyway. Thanks again though, I will ring them tomoz. If they do conversions it makes sense they will do servicing too.

@@johnnymx5 expect around 60 pound for service. but if the car is running properly on petrol and you cant feel when it switches to gas or when running on gas the car feels the same as when running on petrol then it is probable not as important to do anything. most problem come on the petrol side not the lpg side

@@davidsworld5837 There has been a couple of occasions when, running on the lpg, the engine died. Both times it was actually just after pulling away, don't know what that might mean. But I quickly learnt that turning off the ignition and turning it on again instantly put it back to normal again. It has only happened a couple of time's but as it happened on lpg, not petrol, am guessing it must be therefore lpg ralated. So figured an lpg service would be a good idea as I have no idea when, or if, it was last serviced. And anyway 60 odd quid is pretty cheap, so will just get it done. But from what you have said I can then just probably forget about it for a few years. Thanks for the info!

Yeah I'd take it to an lpg mechanic. Are you sure citroen put the conversion in themselves or did they work with a third party company to put it in? Most dealers don't know how / aren't certified to work on lpg systems. Make sure you find out what brand it is, probably written on the vaporizer/reducer. Every 15-20-ish thousand km (12k mi) you'll need to get the filter replaced and every now and then the injectors cleaned. Good maintenance keeps an lpg system very reliable and trouble free.

LPG you get less MPG your engine consumes at a higher rate

Yes thats true because when the gas reduced in pressure from the the regulator , the compression ratio slightly reduce but infact you save 40% from the actual price of petrol

@@briangerada7209 the energy contained in one litre of lpg is between 20 and 25 % less than the energy in one litre of petrol. You therefore get a reduction in mpg of 20-25%. That is the theory......... My 17 yrs running a Mitsubishi pajero on lpg agree with the theory.

At the time of this post, where I live, Diesel is £1.99 per ltr. Autogas is £0.85p per ltr. I think this justifies conversion in my books
