So I’ve been in a film that’s coming out soon. So I could tell you a thing about the industry. 1. Monique was never an a list actor she wasn’t in that circuit, Precius was actually her breakout roll which could’ve easily catapulted her into a list status. She was offered $50,000 upfront and 5% equity of the total film. So if you’re in business, you understand that 5% is far more valuable than that $50,000. 2. Precius was an independent film that wasn’t picked up by Tyler Perry and Oprah until the film was done and showcase at the Sundance film Festival, so they had no say so in her pay so technically she was right about her contractual obligations because they didn’t project the film with make it overseas, but it did! Lionsgate asked her to promote the film overseas and let me tell you, Denzel Washington Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt none of these A-list would ask a studio to pay them to promote their own film! Because that’s not how the industry works no one gets paid to promote a film. So what Monique is not telling you is that she made about $3.5 million off of the film because of that 5% equity which she probably could’ve made more if she promoted and she became a risk to the studio by abandoning a film when it was at its highest peak! That’s why nobody want to book her anymore
