2 quick details I missed mentioning in the video, that I'll probably speak more on when we get demo footage: 1. You can drop multiple bubbles. There are at least 3 on the ground when they show off the recital dealing extra hits. 2. The Slide Beat/Sonic Smash attack is RANGED👀 idk how i missed this 1, but that sound wave multi hits and travels reeeeally far. That's actually pretty similar to a special move from the now shut down mobile game Monster Hunter Explore

I'm actually of the opposite opinion. I'm hoping that they'll finally get rid of attack up on horns in general. It feels like that buff's always been the thing that's relegated HH to support and one of the biggest reasons why people think corner horning is a good thing. (that, and the healing song, but I think the healing song is actually a necessary evil).
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
@@FGMagala if you ask me, it has to either be on all Horns or none of them, and that 2nd option leaves open the hypothetical scenario where the preference would just shift to the next best offensive song

@@KPlaysHere I don't think that'll be much of a problem considering that the top songs after attack up are wind pressure, earplugs, tremor, and stamina recovery. It really looks to me like the echo bubbles proc whenever the horn plays sound in them, be it from your basic attacks playing a note or your recitals playing a song. If that's the case, the five smaller shockwaves from the focus attack will probably serve a double purpose of being able to proc your echo bubble 5 times. It sounds super fun to bait the monster over to your bubbles and then hit your focus attack to put them in an echo chamber.

My biggest concern is song balance. In Worldborne (and previous MHs too) it ALWAYS felt suboptimal using any horn that didn’t have an Attack Up song. Attack Up means more staggers, more trips, and ultimately faster hunts. It would be nice if other horns had song lists that at least made them COMPETITIVE with the AuL horns.
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
Absolutely. They do seem like they're willing to pick out the best bits and pieces of Rise, and 1 positive change there was that between Bead of Resonance and Infernal Melody 100% of all horns had access to an attack boosting song. If you ask me, Attack Up is pretty hard to beat unless you have a game with VERY good weapon balancing that makes some Horns still competitive without it. Easier to give it to all of them or remove it entirely--but probably that 1st thing. Tthr loss of Attack Up altogether would could have a bunch of unintended issues

As someone who wasn’t super keen on the horn in Rise, I’m quite happy with how Wilds horn is turning out. A very solid looking moveset with good speed and some highly aggressive attacks will hopefully get more people to try out the best weapon in the series, especially since we’ll be able to bring two weapons on a hint so HH will likely be a popular secondary option
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
What's really promising is that a lot of these moves look like they have both cool animations AND technical functions, compared to Rise where a handful of the new moves just kinda existed for the sake of existing. What im hoping when it comes to carrying 2 weapons is actually that songs would require you to have a HH in use to stay active if you're the source. I'm still iffy about the possibility that there'd be players just using HH to buff before swapping back to their mains.

If you notice the very first attack swing that "misses" fires off some kind of echo attack. I believe the recital button, by default when pressed or with songs will apply this echo. Remember in past if you pressed the recital button on your controller it's a wiff animation? Now ALL recitals echo. Maybe Also the dodge backwards is reminiscent of when dodging backwards after hitting the switch skill buttons. Does this mean an dodge and counter attack? Maybe Why NOT show the UI? I believe they will let us "tune" our instruments. As in ALL horns comes with att/def and a few if not all notes have another note set to choose either/or like having stun resistance or tremor resistance note selectable at camp. Too much emphasis all these years on this being an instrument and no real sound tuning? (This last one is Hopium with no real evidence)

That seemed like the waves they added in World that went off when you had at least 1 song to play in your queue. Not quite the same though, since there are a couple weird moments like the 1 at the beginning of the trailer where you got 2 waves on just 1 swing. It also looks like you get 2 total: 1 with the swing, then another when the song activates. I actually had a very similar hopium dream in 1 of my wishlist videos lol, except it's more like: -you get an option at the weapon crafting screen to tune -you can change either your 2nd or 3rd note to any other -1 note changing changes your entire song list into another, allowing for some limited buff customization

I hate to be that guy, and I know it is still too early to make any conclusive evaluation, but a fair bit of the trailer worried me. The bubbles could be annoying to keep deploying or kiting the monster around to ramp up our damage. We also seem to have to place multiples of these for that, since unlike the beads of resonance, which had unlimited range and could/needed to deploy once, these seem to have a fairly limited range. Not to mention the SOUND, again this could just be me, but that high-pitched ting noise they make will drive me crazy! Just imagine a hunt with two or more HHs with like a dozen or so of these bubbles - assuming there isn't an entity limit, that would be a literal cacophony. To say nothing of the fact, they brought back the “walk over the buff” thing again, it's bigger this time, but still, why? It's an instrument ffs, not a bubble blower. It also adds unnecessary clutter to the screen, which the bead also didn't do. In a similar vein, but VERY nitpicky, I have a few concerns with the animations. The normal notes seem fine, but stuff like the new Earthshaker animation seems unnecessarily longer, I assume the extra hits were added to make better use of the echo bubbles. But unless the stagger is REALLY substantial, the commitment to use it seems high. The sound it makes is also bad, as it made me think of the “metal pipe falling” meme. I hope it varies from horn to horn. Meanwhile, some animations like the bubble deploy recital thing(?) seem weirdly sped up. This also applies to that weird backstep/backflip part of the clash attack - the animation almost seems to be playing in reverse too - though the swing after looks cool, the hit stop seems to trigger a bit early, like when the hilt hits. I also think the final neutral encore animation - the one with the little hop - looks a bit lame and weightless compared to the older encore. As for the Slide beat/Sonic smash, IDK if I like it, too much spinning. Other than the fact that it seems to be ranged, it also looks like it deploys an orange bubble under the monster by the end of its animation. But on the bright side, I love the new mid-shuffle hits, the faster neutral forward recital, and the mount finisher.
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
Hey, be that guy! It creates conversation points lol. I'm really happy, but I'm not gonna be naive enough to sit here and say everything's right with the world and there's no way this new HH is anything but 100% perfection (not yet anyways, gotta play it 1st at least). Personally, I don't mind the audio or visual things, although that might be because I haven't actually experienced gameplay with them. The mechanical stuff though? Yeah, I can see that being a valid concern. The AoE issues that Bead had have a chance to show back up here. Sure, you CAN place multiple, but that's a straight positive only up until we find out we HAVE to. Then it just becomes another thing to micromanage, and HH has plenty of that already. It's worth considering though that the Bubble we see here may not be the only option. We had 4 in Iceborne, plus the 2 offensive echo songs. If the damage potential difference isn't too bad you could always swap to a HH with a less mandatory bubble effect. On the 2nd part, you noticed something I was actually considering doing a video on in the future. There's definitely a difference in design philosophy between the 'traditional' and newer HH moves' animations. It's really noticable when you compare them within a combo or have played HH long enough to where the old school style is what you're used to. We never really had fast and flashy or stylish high commitment in our toolkit. Whether or not you like it, having the different styles both existing within the same moveset causes a bit of a juxtaposition. Personally? I'm fine with it IF there's an actual function behind the new stuff. Rise's moveset has a slight issues where some of the new moves were fancy just because. I wanted more like Perform that let you dodge and attack, less like Melodic Slap or that weird XA ballerina spin. For the added moves in this trailer, I'm probably gonna hold off on calling it 1 way or another yet because we don't know what these moves do yet. If nothing else, in hindsight the Rise trailer taught me not to just drool over cool factor and actually take a second to think about what what we're seeing might mean.

My only gripe for the focus mode earthshaker is that I see so weird that there is no connecting string for that resonance beat to travel to the monster. Like in Rise you clearly see the silk travelling that beat to the monster. I don't play hh so i was curious if this trailer followed the same pattern and it seems like it is however the weapon change is a bit suss. everyone of these moves has been portrayed as very powerful compared to everything else, even the gs one which looks like a regular wide slash has huge implications of power creep. obviously we don't know everything new being added to the game but it really feels like a wirebug equivalent of a move that we can use in focus mode or maybe an ult or style ect. they are keeping it secret cause theu always cut to the move itself so we can't see what was done before it

I just want to point out that a lot of the time when we see the hunter perform songs it's only after playing one to three notes. So we might not quite have traditional song lists back. Self improvement being trimmed down to just triggering after any performance like in Rise was in my opinion a good and healthy way to trim some of the fat off of hunting horn. Maybe what we'll see is that we have new songs, passive buffs are simple and short to play while offensive songs that trigger special attacks like the slidebeat-esque move and the backflip slap require more complex songs.

@@zacharyhansen8250 I'm actually hoping that the traditional song lists see some changes tbh. Not nearly as far as Rise mind you, but the old system barely changed at all since 3rd gen and there were areas that definitely showed. This is as good a time for tweaks as any I say
@zacharyhansen82505 ай бұрын
@@KPlaysHere I don't mind if they trim the song list, especially now that it seems like our primary method of dealing damage is going to be the performance combo. Rise definitely overdid it with the trimming. I still want to play songs, but I would love to be able to play songs faster so I can get to my performance/encore spam faster
@ElusiveEliizer5 ай бұрын
@@zacharyhansen8250 I don't think your point about seeing recitals after one note indicates that songs will require as little as a single note or even less notes than pre-Rise at all. We only see three traditional recitals in the trailer. In the first one, the player does a draw attack into right recital. Only one note seen, but in the recital the horn flashes twice before the encore, implying that two songs were played. If it's truly two songs, we clearly didn't see all the necessary notes and can't say how many notes were really required. Skipping the second for now, the third recital was just to showcase that ally buffing exists and earlier notes were likely cut as to not waste trailer time The second traditional recital we see in in the footage is when they are showcasing the echo bubbles. In that clip we see them queue up four notes: a right swing, a back slam, then a double swing. I obviously can't say what the note system will be, but I haven't seen anything that would make me think it's not just World's system. And I really hope that's the case. If that first recital is actually two songs, they came out lightning fast. One of the reasons Rise HH felt so awful for me was because how quickly you got buffs. It made getting the buff feel braindead easy and thus playing the weapon wasn't satisfying or rewarding. If recitals play through songs that quickly, I think having to queue 3 or 4 note songs before the recital is needed to keep the satisfaction that World and older HH's provided. Also note, these are the thoughts of a HH player in 3rd gen through World and who hated RIse HH.

@@ElusiveEliizer yeah, it just felt a little off that we never really see a full song get played. Maybe the new performance combo gives us a new way to play music
@zacharyhansen82505 ай бұрын
@@ElusiveEliizer I've been playing hunting horn since 4U. I don't think our credentials matter too much. We just have a difference in preference. I completely agree with most of your points. I like old song lists not necessarily because recital took so long and thus made them feel more rewarding, but that it gave me something to work towards. I have a very aggressive playstyle and used recital primarily for its attacking and repositioning so I could stay aggressive while maintaining my buffs at the same time. Specifically in world I liked how encore attacks had a powered up version if you played a 3 to 4 note song as opposed to just a two note song like the echo waves or self improvement. I don't mind if self improvement it's reduced to a natural thing that you don't have to go out of your way to play. Especially as a newer horn player it was very easy for me to accidentally queue up self improvement and kick the song I actually wanted out of my queue (or just forcing me to restart with pre-world horn) so that's more just a welcome qol change in my mind since we never want to be without self-improvement anyway. You are probably correct that we still have full song lists but I also wouldn't mind if we had a couple single or double note songs sprinkled into a larger setlist of songs, especially if we're going to be using recital as our primarily damage dealer, but this also means that I want bigger reward and payoff for playing more complex songs too.

A part of me actually feels like HH should only get notes on a hit rather than on swing like how IG does its buffs. It would strongly incentivize properly hitting the monster and emphasize that it's also a proper weapon rather than some sort of support object. I am glad that they're no longer giving HH that label directly though.
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
@@FGMagala it's an idea, kind of like a more strict Rise, but I don't think a lot of players would appreciate it. You'd definitely force corner horning to come to an end, sure, but it'd also kill a lot of tactics for HH users that actually participate in fights too. No more pre buffing before fights or readying a note or 2 while the monster winds up some long animation for example
@emosgowoof5 ай бұрын
Unless they bake all the buffs of self improvement into the kit directly, (the movement speed buff and innate mind's eye), i'd disagree heavily. Trying to do anything without self improvement, especially at the campaign prog level where you can't get access to evade window 3 / evade distance 2 / 3 easily, is tantamount to playing the game in molasses. And unlike other weapons, hunting horn's only defensive options in the slower games are traditionally just dodging and high movement speed. And to be forced to throw out bad moves just to buff instead of smartly trading both wastes the opening engagements that the monster isn't fully aggrod and creates even more reckless unnecesary maintenence work that will make them a liability in end game hunts.
@FGMagala5 ай бұрын
@@emosgowoof While I do see your point, at the same time HH has a great draw attack and is quite fast on sheathing, so you can just play like GS until you get your first song off and get the self improvement buff up. It's a pretty small limitation especially considering how long self improvement lasts and how easily you can refresh it. While not having it is definitely worse, it's quite easy to apply compared to IG's triple buff that's considered just as necessary. I won't say that the suggestion isn't without problems at all, but it isn't some sort of death sentence to HH, just an annoyance for a few seconds upon meeting the monster.
@ElusiveEliizer5 ай бұрын
I understand some of the hate corner horning gets, but at the same time, it is an accessibility option for new player. Like other people have mentioned, being able to buff with songs before the fight proper is used at all skill levels but is especially helpful to new players. Juggling 3 to 4 buff is a lot to manage so at times playing away from the monster can prevent things from being overwhelming. That's why I believe punishing players for whiffing would be incredibly unhealthy to the weapon. I think players should, instead, be rewarded for landing hits like they did with the double note system in GU. If you hit the monster with an attack, the note was considered a 'double note' and if a recital was played with all double notes, the song from the previous recital would also be activated. That's the sort of system that I think would be healthy. You reward people for solid play; you don't punish people for not meeting some optimal standard. Your last comment about your suggestion not being a death sentence for HH only looks at things from the perspective of someone with experience with the weapon. MH is so much to take in for new players and picking HH just to never get buffs because you can hit with the necessary notes, would be frustrating and could push people away from the weapon entirely
@FGMagala5 ай бұрын
@@ElusiveEliizer Yea, I see your point, but my core issue is that HH isn't viewed as a proper weapon in the first place, and thus tends to be avoided by those aside from people who just want to help out from a corner or at most timidly smack the monster once in a while in the ass. Fundamentally, the problem I think is that the view that the songs are the core of teh HH, and smacking monsters being secondary is the prevalent view for those new to MH or else are more casual players. The songs are all bonuses, like getting a helm splitter as LS or a full TCS on GS, not the core identity of the weapon. The HH is basically like a fast hammer that can't charge at the core, not a guitar that is used to smack the monster on occasion.

Rise HH is objectively inferior amongst all iterations because of how low the skill floor and skill ceiling was. The gameplay felt handicapped and pathetic like someone is spoon feeding and changing your diapers for you, and you're a grown ass man. My guess is that capcom saw how low the HH population was in World and speculated the best approach was to dumb down the HH gameplay. THAT change disillusioned the a large portion of the tight knit HH community based on what they had saw in the Rise HH gameplay trailer. The gameplay was significantly less rewarding and any randos like me could pick up HH effortlessly in less than an hour. Sure, more people probably played the HH cuz it was trivialized, but it came at the cost of letting down the entire HH mains community. Rise HH didn't feel at all like HH cuz it was too simple, and this is coming from someone who doesn't even enjoy HH.

HH has pretty much always had low usage though. I feel like the aim with Rise was more to touch up a few dated areas and throw in some new ideas while they were at it, but they tried so many new things at once that somewhere they lost the plot and ended up with...well, y'know. This is looking more like those same ideas but approaching them in a much better way. Don't get new players by disregarding old ones; design for EVERYONE

I can understand people still being a little cautious to jump straight into the hype after Rise, but the hints of improvement all over this teaser have me ready to believe lol. its not even an exaggeration to say i saw 2 frames of the old moveset and was immediately sold on it. Imagine my hype levels when i saw they were also just straight up improving the kit with more options. Rise is a fine game, but everyone who looked at rise horn and bought into the "omg this whole game is a love letter to hunting horn" stuff at the start never touched the gd thing prior. Rise gutted the weapon like a fish and made it boring to use. Easier yes, but not better, which is why its so reviled by vets and newcomers alike. Its not bad per se, just doesnt hit the same hype levels as iceborne, rendering the whole endeavor pointless. Wilds looks like a true loveletter to the weapon to me. All 6 of us hunting horn mains are excited as hell. Starting with not calling it a support weapon. iceborne hunting horn's biggest issue was PR, not its kit, and a lot of that came from people not wanting to play support, then getting scared of the song list when they tried anyway. Faster songs and a few extra moves is all hunting horn really needed lol
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
@@GrayMatter337 y'know what? I can get behind nearly all of this. What I find funny though is that from the looks of it, Wilds HH is essentially the ideas behind Rise HH but done right. All it took for people to like said ideas was for them to be added WITH the old things people liked, not INSTEAD of them. Kind of a shame really, because imagine if they would've just done this 1st in Rise. Imagine how much further Wilds would've been in the right direction if it didn't have to be used almost like a partial 'correction' of the last game
