I hope you enjoy. Being honest I found it to be a little underwhelming after all the hype. It is lovely, but very small too. Great place to explore though too, and do go to the top if you have a chance.

Great video as always. We live in Kalamata and have visited Monemvasia but due to cronky knees didn't attempt the upward path, so it was great to virtually follow you up there, see the amazing views and listen to the history of this wonderful place. Thanks and Yiammas!🍺

Thank you so much for commenting. I am glad you found the video enjoyable, it was very windy when I went! I love Kalamata, one of my favourite places in Greece. I am a frequent visitor with the wife. Even thinking of maybe moving there in the future.

What an amazing story behind this little piece of land. And yet another amazing video of yours, full of accurate & interesting historical events to match the breathtaking views! I would happily meet, but am going to the UK at the end of May for a couple of months, see family, avoid the heat etc. I will be doing some vids from there before I return to Greece after the summer.... mad I know... Is it me or your last 'a' in 'Monemvasia' is pronounced a bit like 'o' ??

I think it was continuously inhabited and many homes were still inhabited before the tourism-era restorations. Not as in good of a shape as they are now, but I'm pretty sure many homes in the old town were still intact and inhabited. I'm pretty sure but not 100%.

I am sure there were some residents too, though it was basically rebuilt for the tourists, there is nothing negative about that, great that areas of Greece can benefit so much from the visitors!
