10:15 To clarify the "called himself Egyptian" thing, that's a reference to Ptolemy I. He was Alexander's general who took over Egypt after Alexander's death, and established the Ptolemaic Dynasty, which ruled there until Rome conquered it. Though he and his ruling line were Macedonian (including the famous Cleopatra), they took care to publicly identify themselves as Egyptian and continue Egyptian ruling customs, in order to better secure their rule. So it serves as a little hint to history buffs about the identity of the tomb that's about to be revealed, since a Pharaoh openly proclaimed as Macedonian would have to be Alexander.

But IMO *Layla* has already proven herself quite capable _and pragmatic._ Even while under emotional duress. Just dealing with the *Mark/Steven* situation immediately following her finding *Marc* after his being gone for 6 months. And again, it's a tired and frustrating trope IMO. With a lot of Layla’s behaviour, it is usually a result of Marc’s mistakes. Sure that may not have been the best time to confront him about her father, but the best time was long ago. Probably before he married her. Same thing with the scarab, Marc chose not to keep her in the loop. He tries to protect her, but mostly does so by taking her agency away. In reference to Rick's point, I don't know if there is any amount of training she could have had to prepare her for finding out that her husband potentially murdered her father when her father's death is something we've seen her struggle with deeply for the entire show. She gets emotional just talking about him. And Marc has been lying to her face every time she brought it up. I don't think he would have told her the truth if his back wasn't up against a wall and he was panicking too much to come up with a convincing enough half-truth to get her to drop it. He certainly tried but she kept pushing because she'd listened to with Arthur had to say on the matter. It makes sense for what we've seen of her character so far. It doesn't help that her husband is currently trying to divorce her after disappearing and being presumed dead for months so the trust is already shaky.

The hippo at the end is Taweret, goddess of rebirth and life which someone else pointed out. But also, the asylum seems like a home for elderly or misguided gods and deities. There are several allusions in the production design to say this and Taweret is there to help them through living again or remembering themselves again. I'm basing this off the Kane Chronicles which has an eerily similar situation as depicted in this episode. I believe everything happening is real, just in a weird place in the world right now like the afterlife.

I have a theory: When Marc got shot by his partner, he got revived by Khonshu, but in the process he developed 2 personalities, apart from his original one - One personality is Steven, the archeologist from that TV-show and he was based on the personality of Layla's father because of the guilt that he couldn't save him, which explains why he's into Egypt and their mythology and why he works in the museum and why Layla seems to like him, and the other personality was based on his partner that mercilessly killed the archeologists

Here's a theory. The third personality living with Marc/Steven is the one who killed Leila's father. They identified his face as the identity of the one who killed those people "execution style". And Marc DID try to stop him, just you know, they share the same body.

When Harrow was a doctor, he was describing bipolar disorder, not DID, when talking about mania and depression. Perhaps Marc has DID and bipolar disorder, and this experience confirms the other diagnosis.
@brycelloyd35922 жыл бұрын
DID sometimes gets misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder. That might be what happened.
@Frank_Ditch2 жыл бұрын
maybe thats just what Harrow personally has, so he was trying to speak from his experience, even if it is different
@kunglaoshat12502 жыл бұрын
@@Frank_Ditch If Harrow is bipolar then that might play into his resentment of Khonshu. He told the other gods that Marc was “unwell” and that Khonshu was taking advantage of him. Obviously Harrow was mainly trying to discredit Marc and Khonshu, but It’s possible Harrow really does think that Khonshu takes advantage of vulnerable people. Part of Harrow’s hatred of Khonshu could be because he feels that Khonshu took advantage of him when he was struggling with his own mental illness.

I'm baffled that, out of ALL FOUR of you guys, nobody caught on to those people inside the weird "mind scape" institution place, at the end, were all the same people Steven has been interacting with since the first episode. "Donna," (holding a stuffed bug," the gold painted street performer guy is the Bingo caller, the two MI5 agents being the two orderlies, etc. Every other reaction/review video I've seen, so far, they're catching on pretty much immediately, and for some reason you guys are like; "Wuo are all those people? Just invented to fill out that world in his mind?" "Are those ten people other personalities?!" And nobody else speaks up! (I'm surprised, because of all people, I would have thought you guys would have caught them all.) And, you guys did start figuring it out eventually lol admittedly. So; 👍

I also don't really care for "emotional vulnerability slows them down so the bad guys can catch up to them" moments, and it feels like you see those scenes a lot with female characters and viewers blame it on the character for being overly sentimental, when most likely a man wrote the scene that way. Not the biggest fan of "oh look the woman can't think rationally" scenes. I'm not too pressed about it, sure her dad really mattered to her, it's just not my favourite trope, so I agree with Eric.

Part of me really wished the whole Asylum thing was maybe woven in a bit earlier. Or maybe teased a bit. I get that they are streamlining things a bit with this series. But in episode 1 (maybe early episode 2) were the only parts where it genuinely felt like “what even is true here?” Rather than just being “oh okay, wacky MCU dream stuff” Still very happy to see it though

Once the aspect ratio changed the first thing I thought was “what is this Wandavision??” This show constantly makes me confused but honestly I love that about it since it feels like the characters (or at least some of the characters) are just as confused as we are. A similar concept to Wandavision only this time better because in that show it was more like I was just confused and the characters kept moving forward after shoving some lame answers to your questions down your throat. Moonknight seems to be much more aware of their audience and conscious of what they’re showing us and at what time

I was so surprised when it transitioned to the hospital. I thought perhaps Jake was going to come to the front and fly into a murderous rage. I don't have his disorder, but I once had an out of the blue seizure, and I remember slowly waking up in the ambulance, and I was still a little "foggy" at the hospital. So I related a little to his experience there. I don't know why, but I feel like I relate to Marc and Steven, not just in a sympathetic or empathetic way, but like I have actually experienced what he is going through. I once did something really stupid, and I ended up labeled with a disorder. That situation completely changed me forever. Sometimes I wish I could just return to how I was before I screwed up. I guess I can understand how someone could develop another personality just to be free of the darkness in their past.

In Egyptian mythology sekhmet was ras general and the Dora in black panther wear her colors The story of Sekhmet, the Egyptian feline warrior goddess associated with both plague and healing, is considered by some to be one of the oldest vampire tales. Legend holds that the sun god, Ra, sent his daughter Sekhmet down to punish humankind for their disobedience. But after Sekhmet couldn't stop drinking blood amid her slaughter, Ra quelled her planet-draining thirst by dyeing a bunch of beer red (basically, she guzzled it all and slept for three days). Sekhmet and bast share the same soul the tribes of wakanda pray to bast.

@ot7biasedmashups2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's actually his inner world tho because of Taweret 🤔 if she didn't show up I would have thought so too but since she is here.... That must mean that Marc is dead (maybe even longer than we think rn) and didn't make it to the field of reeds like the girl in ep 1 said. Taweret was forced not to interact with humanity anymore so she takes care of spirits that get lost in the underworld and even God's that are being forgotten. That's why everyone is like an empty shell of themselves. Steven and Marc would ofc also be separate because they're two different spirits 😊
@Emma_142 жыл бұрын
@@ot7biasedmashups yeah maybe idk what her "part" in all of it is just yet. Maybe he is imagining her? Maybe she's somehow can be in his inner world? Maybe the show is bending the rules about inner worlds? (though I doubt it) who knows but the fact that marc and Steven can interact and another alter was clearly there makes me believe in some capacity this place is a small part of his inner world. maybe not all of it.

THANK YOU for taking us through the asylum scene in slow-motion!! So helpful! @38:18 - for some reason I have a feeling that guy on the LEFT in the glasses could be the 3rd alter, Jake. I can easily be wrong, but I have that feeling right now. The lady drawing the Khonshu bird is NOT the fake passport lady - different faces. The guy pushing the cupcake cart = Bek from the Senfu sarcophagus fight scene w/Layla == she stabbed him w/her gold moon necklace. Also, y'all ask some AWESOME questions!! Love it! Fun Fact: Oscar Isaac is acting w/his brother in scenes where he needs to be duplicated. Part of me thinks Marc may have also tossed Steven down that shaft too. LOLOL Hippo = Goddess Taweret. The Goddess Taweret is mentioned by Steven with a "V" in episode 1 when he was talking to Donna about the Ennead and she said to hand her the box of hippos. He corrected her and said the hippos were Taweret. QUESTION: Wondering is there a 3rd Moon Knight suit if the 3rd guy, Jake, takes over and changes into Moon Knight?! Marc = hood/cape; Steven = dope ass 3pc suit; Jake = ????
