Something I loved is how they put us in the perspective of Steven throughout the entire episode. Because Marc is the main host body, and the one who was resurrected by Khonshu, it puts us the viewer in Steven’s shoes as if we’re experiencing his mental troubles and questioning of reality with him. Very genius imo. And I’m sure we’ll get to see Marc’s comic origin and becoming MK (or a version of it) through flashbacks. As someone who’s been a fan of Moon Knight for years, I was incredibly happy with how this first episode was, and love that they saved the suit reveal towards the end. Honestly gets a 10/10 from me

marc spector is the avatar for the moon knight and he has dissociative identity disorder which is multiple personalities , when 1 personality takes over the other 1's become dormant and when the other 1's takes over again the things that the other 1 does seems like dreams instead of memories

Steven/Marc has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), formally known as Multiple Personality Disorder, and here is what D.I.D is. Patients have 'alters' who come forth, most often when the person or host is in (what they perceive to be) distress. It usually develops as a result of extreme, sustained trauma. The alters act as a container of sorts to keep the thoughts, feelings, pain etc. of the trauma from being experienced by the primary person/Host. The jump cuts in this episode represent the loss of time that many patients experience because an alter other than the main personality has been at the forefront. Some goals of treatment can be: process the trauma so as to stop the harm that occurs when patients re-experience everything associated with it (the thoughts, feelings etc. I mentioned above), adopting the use of grounding techniques to try to remain 'present' and decrease the 'loss' of time, and possible integration of alters. That being said, because the alters 'hold' the negative repercussions r/t to the trauma, integration on some level does occur when the trauma is processed by the main person. the alters do have real memories and they are also real people. This was a good way of showing how involuntary alter changes are. For what I know about DiD, you can really lose days even when one of you alters decides to front. Seems Steven is a fairly new-ish alter so whatever happened to Marc to make Steven take over for so long must’ve pretty large trauma (which alters are born/created which is through Massive trauma). I appreciate the fact they (the host and alters) Haven’t made an “Evil” alter yet. Again DiD is about managing trauma not causing it. Yes, some alters (known as Protecters) can be rougher on the outside ( aka in front while the host is in the mind). But, never straight-up causing problems on purpose only to protect the host and the other alters. And Marc is the host as for Steven he is the one who is the most out aka in front so he can have some social life

Steven Grant truly believed it was Friday when went to meet his date. Didn't believe he had a reason to check date of day before it. Or even to glance at whatever corner of phone for it when called her to find out where she was. His sense of time was that no time had passed before waking up near that cult leader's town and believing it was all a dream when he woke up back home.

Great reaction! This is the first time Ive seen someone emphathize with the mean boss more than the soft protagonist lol 😂 Also, pretty sure the voice is Khonshu, and not Moon Knight. Because the voice was talking to Marc. Marc as Moon Knight wouldnt be saying "Surrender the body to Marc" or "If you lose the scarab ill kill you both" (which I think was half serious/in jest)

@@6PathsGohan From what I understand, there are 3 personalities, Marc, Steven and Jake, and Marc can transform into Moon Knight, just like Tony Stark 'transforms' into Ironman by putting on the costume. He's got 3 personalities, not 4

This is also my prediction. At least, imagining it laid out that way would seem to give them a perfect opportunity to provide all of the information we need without making half of the series nothing but flashbacks. Start it up where he's plotting to steal that tacky-ass jewelry, and follow up until whatever results in him falling from the window and blacking out. Then get a hilarious/wild series of cuts where we see most of the events from Candy Land, but from Marc's perspective rather than Steven's. Only this time, each time he blacks out and wakes up, Steven has put him in progressively more terrible situations, ha. I feel like it would go as far back as to fill in the gaps of episode 1 (asking out Posh Spice, maybe for information on the scarab? How the goldfish died, and Marc needing to replace it. I feel like he's also sending postcards to Steven as his _"mother"_ to keep better tabs on what's going on when he's not in control of the body, possibly?) As far as the origin of getting these abilities, if I had to guess, I think it would almost make sense to save that kind of flashback for when he needs to explain all of this to someone close to him rather than just a cold open. It would give them a chance to directly ask and answer all of the questions straight from the perspective of the audience. Similar to episode 4 of WandaVision when we first got the point of view of the Sword camp. Almost all of the missing shots from the trailers that come to mind for me looked just like these scenes, but were from different angles or just had shots that I expected and never happened. It's possible that they were just there and were cut, or they're just the perspective of Marc that we haven't been shown yet.

Moon Knight was a member of Hawkeye's West Coast Avengers in the comics. It dawned on me that the members of Hawkeye's West Coast Avengers follow closely the MCU series rollout. Wanda (who Hawkeye talked out of her fear and called her an Avenger)and Vision were members of the West Coast Avengers, as was Wonder Man and his brother's helmet was depicted in WandaVision. US agent (the Captain America replacement) was a member of the West Coast Avengers. Kate Bishop, who was trained by Hawkeye, was a member of the West Coast Avengers. If you've seen Avengers Age of Ultron, you were introduced to Hawkeye's wife who also was a member of the West Coast Avengers and known by the name of Mockingbird, her symbol appears on the back of a watch in the movie. And a series called Armor Wars is coming up and War Machine (Rhodie) is a principle character of the series and also a member of Hawkeye's West Coast Avengers. This could all be a coincidence, but it is interesting.

Originally, Moon Knight was created as MARVEL's answer to Batman, His name was Marc Spector, a badass mercenary who had 2 aliases, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley. However, later comics have given him more identity, and have given him DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and a form of Schizophrenia to make those "aliases" just his other selves that he can't control, to add more depth to the character, and also be inclusive to the people with these disorders and give them a hero to look up to. However, he is most known for his hilarious memes, such as Dracula owing him money, the furious need to punch werewolves, and his overwhelming ketamine addiction, much of which is faked, but also a big reason why he has grown in fans. He's one of my favorite characters to ever grace a comic book, and I am so glad Oscar Isaac is playing him. Perfect casting for a broken character. Khonshu also looks great, can't wait to see Mr. Knight!

So I'm a MK fan and I've been binging on reaction video's that have little or no background on MK prior to the trailers. It's intriguing to watch on how they try to piece the whole MK world together. Some just hit it and some don't, but I'm mostly exited that they will be introduced to the Marvel "comic" universe not just the "cinematic" one. It's like the Mandalorian brining in characters and stories from the discarded part of Star Wars' called "Star Wars Legends". Trust me they had to tone him down. Issacs great, but I would have loved it if Heath Ledger was still alive...

That wasn't Werewolf by Night, but Moon Knight did first appear in that comic. But the judgement scene wasn't that Steven was innocent but that he can't be judged; probably due to his changeable nature but also because of his god, Khonshu (the Egyptian god of the moon who protects people who travel by night). Marc Spektor is actually the main identity, a mercenary. In the comics Steven and the third main identity are different (a millionaire and a cabby).

Hi Terrell, we have not dropped Moon Knight. JV picked up something while we were on vacation in Cuba and he has not been well enough to film our normal amounts since our return 4 weeks ago. Try to remember that people you watch on KZbin are human. We hope they figure out what is wrong with JV and that we can return to our regular schedule, but we will not be rushing him in case it is something really serious.

Actually...the Knight was not in control, there are three personalities featured in this episode alone: Steven Grant, Marc Spector, Moon Knight As Marc Spector is pretty much the personality that's a servant of Khonshu (the voice yelling at him in the first half of the episode) then he's the one who has the separate identity and personality of Moon Knight, hence asking Steven to give him control so he can give Khonshu or Moon Knight control of them

Isn't Marc the original person? He has an actual past, which is backed up by two months worth of missed calls and texts. Steven is leaving voicemails to a mother that doesn't appear to exist. Aside from using Steven, a nobody, to introduce the world to a hero not known by many (genius move), I don't know why Marc can takeover at will. Steven is forgettable. The people he works with can't remember his name, save for Donna. Steven's the perfect camouflage for someone people are always looking for. I can't wait for the next episode. I hope they can keep up the same level of excitement throughout, though the mystery of Steven being in the dark is now gone. That said, there's still another secret that'll likely freak Steven out, Mister Knight, especially if that persona is attached to Jake Lockley.
