Another great bit of kit for the Bonnie, thanks for sharing. I have just splashed out on and fitted the ignition, indicator, regulator fittings and seat bolts. For the time being I have welded, filled and repainted my headlamp ears. So much more to do with my T100, its my daily ride and I'm so glad I traded my CBF1000 for it. Awesome job, I actually did the relocation of my signal lights after watching your video ... then to fill the holes I went to the local "things engraved" store and bought a couple of "trophy" oval thin plaques and had "865" engraved on them, took the dremmel tool out to make them perfectly fit inside the signal holes and they fit in nicely and looked pretty decent.

Daft Biker Hi mate, once the bike is in the workshop, the PDI can include the exhaust swap, so thats half a day tops....but while they are fitting all that together they can have the paperwork with your DVLA local office over night, (thats if they dont run them down there themselves as we used to), and the civil service nerds will generally have it ready in a 48 hours, id be surprised if they took more then five days to have your bike ready to ride away once they have it in.....so if they get it Monday, you aught to have it by the weekend...! but dont quote me on that mate...its my painful experience that once a dealer has your money, they tend to loose all sense of urgency..!! good luck with it buddy.... keep us posted..

Hi Del, Just re-watched the scrambler video - Renthal bars. The PennyVille Farkles Bonnie has now had lots done to the front end, do you now intend changing the bars for higher/different ones? if yes which bars would you go for? I love the desert sled look but also love the old US spec T140 Special.

Hi Keith, it's Penny's bike and just by pure chance, she loves the shape and feel of the factory bars, they sit her hands in excatly the right position... I use the Renthal Road Bike 'High' to give it the desert sled feel, but have since put some 'Road Bike Ultralow' on to give me a more leant forward position for road use... they are many to choose from and as they don't cost much you can swop back and forth and experiment!

curious, the torq setting you give for the thruxton, do you remember if that was for the early (clip on style) or the later bar style? That could certainly make the difference in the torque settings.

Aha, those on Penny's bike are the new Oxford 'Intelligent' heated grips with the little clever box of tricks on the bars to switch them off if you forget to! They come with 2 ring tabs and you just pop them on the battery... I did do a video on how to find a 'switched live' if you want one, or you might want to upgrade your grips to the new ones!

Hi there, as long as you keep the mud guard brace tight, the top pinch bolts and most importantly, the centre nut in the middle of the top yoke, then you shouldn't affect the alignment, unless you go twisting the bike around and turning the steering side to side, or leaving it on the side stand, the bike must be upright so the weight is straight downwards and it should be fine.

Lovely bit of kit that and obviously a huge improvement. Being 'cost conscious' I'd have matched the Scramber and whacked some gaiters on there (I'm a sucker for a gaiter)! Looking forward to a good look at the new bike lift, certainly looks way easier to work and given the amount you do it makes total sense. Picked up BSH today, one issue I just couldn't miss. For the eagle eyed, I see a stock headlight and the original clocks are back on Damage? By the way, I went back and watched the air filter cover and belly pan fabrication series during some downtime at Christmas. Took me right back to when I started following the channel. Yes mate, they generally just tap upwards, very carefully, moving round the item and tapping a little at a time as they usually just press down over the fork slider... but check your manual if you're not sure!

Hi there Keegan, if you're fitting headlight brackets that slide over the forks, then you'll need to take the top yoke off and it would be safest to support the bike underneath and get the weight off the forks... it wouldn't be good to have the weight of the bike bearing on the bottom yoke only, and safer of course for pulling it about... best of luck with it!

Yep cast alloy is crap, I have had to replace my brake levers with billet, the cast ones that come on the bike kept broke at the lever point, the replacement ones did the same as well. The next bit to replace is the foot pegs they are made of honeycomb as well. Will have to see if motone do anything for my bike. What diameter are the holes for the front pegs on the bonny mate.

Hi Karl, currently Motone are only doing billet pegs for a Harley...but the ones we fitted on Penny's Bonnie were from Oberon... they are all billet, black, silver or multi-coloured, reduced the width by 1" each side, and as they don't have 'a dog leg' cut in to the peg, as your Bonnie ones do, but instead are straight, then they set your feet back 1" as well for a slightly more tucked up riding position... and as they are narrower, the ends of the rubber pegs don't catch your jeans and grab hold of them when you're paddling the bike around! Easy find on Ebay... Oberon Footpegs Bonneville... hope that helps mate!

is the Bonneville light 7" round? is that bracket the 41mm in length? I'm looking to upgrade my light on my scrambler to a bigger 7" light and I'm curious if the 41mm bracket will work.

Hi mate... the issue with the two bikes is that the Scrambler has narrower yokes, so the fork legs are a lot closer together than on the Bonneville... this means if you fit a Bonneville light, it will be wider than the forks, and that will make the brackets "splay out" at an angle and they will not sit flat on the sides of the light.....you'll need to fabricate some brackets to fit.... If you are talking about upgrading, then is it the brightness of the power of the light you wish to improve?.. or do you just wants a bigger looking light ?... if its just brighter you want.. then why not fit an HID kit to your factory Scrambler light... its bring planes down mate...bright as hell..!

Del, when you removed the handle bars , is there a trick to positioning them when re installing, to far back or to forward .how do you get them back in same position as before.

Normally sit on the bike and move them around till they feel right, but if you really want to be cheeky, just dap a dot of marker paint or tippex on one of the bar clamps and on the bar so each dot is no more than a few mm apart, then when you bolt them back on, just line up the dots! Easy eh?!

Thats an easy answer Ethan, the Bonneville is a bike designed for customising and accessorising, like Sportsters they deliberatly INTEND you to spend more money on your bike....thus they wring more profit from you...why would they sell you a really cool bike with lots of trick parts for a single price so you can ride away happy.....far better to sell you the bike at a slightly lesser price making it an affordable 'budget buy'....then sell you all the bits to make it look cool...and at far more than cost... dial up any Triumph dealer's website and look at the "Build Your Bike" page...you can add 'virtual' parts from thier "approved genuine accessories" range...and see the price of the bike rocket......greedy?...exploitive?....NO...just clever marketing, thats why Triumph and Harley are running at the front of bike sales world wide.... and i dont begrudge them it, coz i get to make my bike how i want it...and i have the choice to buy after market parts too....you cant say that about a Yamaha Bolt now can you..!

I use a Sykes Pickavant torque wrench, get a 3/8 drive and you need about 55ft/lb tops for bike use...the only stuff higher than that is the wheel nuts and just do those up to "Ft"....thanks for wathicng buddy, take care.. Ayup Cookie... ok, have you done anything to the bike to cause this?, changed the bars, shifted the controls about, fitted anthing new?... have you maybe trapped the cables, kinked or pinched them somehow...?.. if no to all of that... then check they havent snagged on the headstock somehow, spin the grip open and shut with the motor turned off, does it do it with the bars straight ahead...of just when its turned on lock?... let me know mate, lets see if we can get to the bottom of it,, as its pretty serious..! Moonfleet41 Hello Del cheers for getting back to me, just went and looked at it again and it's the same whether or not the bar is straight, as for myself I have not done any changes to the bike, It was fine when I was riding to work and as soon as I got on it to come back home that's when it started. Looked around the cables to see if anything was caught but it all looks ok :/

KungFuCookie09 OK, it's just possible a bit of weather has got inside the twist grip and jammed it up... first check the rubber twist grip isn't chaffing on the switch block, if that's free, then open the switch block casing, and with the screws loosened off, just a turn or two, see if that frees it up... if it does, then it's jamming on the cable track, perhaps a cable has come off it's runner. Have a good look inside and make sure everything is as it should be... finally make sure the plastic sleeve that revolves round the bar is not jammed up with road grime ... it's just a case of investigating it mate and I think your culprit will probably be the twist grip ... have a look at let me know mate!

Moonfleet41 Of course! Forgot about the fairing around the headlight. Looks like an '98 ER5 or CB from the same era. :) Sorry I didnt read the previous comment which also enquired about the Bandit. Was gonna request a video on the bench but its already been done too! Took my SRAD out first time since the carb clean...runs so much better! One thing that worries me, my bike got a front head bearing replacement in September as it failed MOT otherwise. Didnt ride the back since until today. There is a very small low freq oscillation/sway left to right to left.... at low speeds. I can just about feel it. I have no idea if I should go back or if its something I can fix myself/will settlle automatically after a few rides. Tyre pressures are checked regulary so that shouldn't be the issue. Rij B Hi Rij, if the bike is hard to keep in a straight line at low speed, kind of 'meanders' from side to side.. then thats usualy down to a binding headstock...they may have over tightened the bearings which is no problem it can just be backed off a little in the toothed rings....as they did it...then id take it back to them and ask them to check it for you...the front wheel needs to be off the ground and see if it flows lock to lock with zero resistance... its easily done when fitting new bearings.... see how that goes first buddy..

There is a proper answer to the age old "why drive on the left" question, it began with the Romans, they used Charriots which passed each other 'right side to right side' in order to keep thier sword arm free for defence, that carried on through the ages, Jousting was a sport as big as football back in the ages, and then on to horse back soldier so, once again they keep thier arm side free...so driving on the left is natural and correct for age old reasons...Our European cousins also used to ride on the left until Napoleon decided on a whim to change to the right in order to be different from the hated British. and thus every country he's Empire conquered took to the right, including Spain, which influenced South America.... Quite why the US chose the right when its first people were British, from a country that had driven and ridden on the left for 1700 years is only speculation, perhaps it was the same reason Napoleon used..! We dfont date the titles becuase that dates the video itself and most people like to watch the latest ones and would skip the early stuff....plus the titles are pitched at making them easy to find in a specific search, certainly for the How-To stuff.. I think if i started replacing the crap parts on my kawasaki 125, i would just chuck it in a skip, cheaper option ha ha, but its not in your class so ill not worry. Yep the new headlight supports make the factory ones look crap, they should have done the job better, triumph needs you del :D

Great videos. I've been watching your vids for i think 2 years now maybe more. Just wanted to help you for all the times you helped me. Torque wrenches; when they are stored you want to keep tension on the spring like you said but you need more tension. Normally between 30-45% of the max value. 1ft-lb is not enough to keep it in calibration for a long period of time. Also, when you are torqing down bolts, in order for you to consistently get the correct torque, you must only allow your pulling weight to be on the grip and no higher or lower on the shaft. This will mess up calibration. Just a tip. Thanks

I recommend storing the wrench at the value designated by the manufacturer, they may vary. I damaged a torque wrench recently because I stored it for a couple days without releasing tension.

wrong torque on steering stem top nut.Right torque is 90 nm or 66 lbf.ft.Same torque for all mods.

Love your videos, as I have stated before, but have to stop watching them because you are costing me a shit load of money..LOL I have question on forks on 2012 bonneville, are they decent or should I get new progressive ones, and what would you recommend. I did change the rear for tecparts as in your video.

Timothy Burman Hi Timothy....good to hear from you Sir.. and congratulation on the Bonneville, they are hard to leave alone aye..? lol.. If you have the TEC rear shocks, then you could invest in the progressive psrings from TEC, you may need to cut the spacer tubes down a little ot get the height the same...but its two minutes with a hacksaw... see how it rides now and upgrade if you feel its a bit harsh...
