@@yrsued I first bought it when it was the hottest thing on the market. I paid 700 then. 2 magazines and a holster box and magazine loader. It's still stock. But I'm gonna be doing some upgrades finally.

Reading where everyone is talking about how old their pistols are I just realized that my first two XD pistols were bought in 06 and 07 (both 4” service .45s). I bought three more XD .45s last year, a pair of 5” tacticals and one of the subcompact mod 2s. I want some work done to make them a little smoother, but also to make them stick out a little more when at the range, so they don’t look like every other polymer striker fired pistol there….. make ‘em a little more snazzy, so they could be used as a BBQ gun if I move to Texas. lol

hi i have an xd 9 subcompact and i was watching a video about xd's and the video guy told us reasons the xd is a bad gun.......(1) he said the roll pin on top of the gun would fall out or pop up when shooting a lot of rounds (2) he said the firing pin something about it seering off and firing the gun while in a holster (3) he said some police departments had used it but upkeep cost was too much so now no police departments carry it (4) grip safety if you pull the gun and your hand is not perfect on it you cannot fire he said students had problems often with shooting (5) with grip safety and people thinking it is more safe when you holster and unholster the point is your hand is depressing the grip safety when you put it in the holster and pull it out of the holster. looking for a reason to trust this gun i have had it 6 years only shot it a couple times but ready to get back into things and want a reliable edc.....i keep hearing about m&p shield plus?

And who is this person and what are their qualifications to state all these things? I don't care what others say, I go by my experience. For me, the Shield doesn't fit my hand well, but it might fit your hand well!! There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with the XD line, if they were ANY issues, the pistol wouldn't' be around after 20+ years.

Tbh if you've had it for 6 yrs and have only shot it a few times, you need to break it in and get your own feel to it. I shot my buddies subcompact xd at the range and it felt good grip wise. Not too bulky like the glocs, shields are a little too narrow for me. And granted I don't have basket ball players hands and I'm not a gun guru but it's a little light for me. I went with the regular 4 inch xd 9 and I love it. More stable in hand, not too forward or back heavy. More accurate. But to each their own.

(1) NEVER heard of that issue. (2) Lots of manufacturers have firing pin issues (usually an issue with contracting specs v contracting QAQC), but that is why there are manufacturers of replacement/upgrade parts for every common type of firearm. That said, you haven’t fired yours enough to cause the problem and so likely aren’t carrying it either. Had you been shooting it, it would have broken or not and you’d have proven your buddy right or wrong already, and had you proven him right you’d have simply upgraded the part (and maybe some other internals). Not a big deal, the best made guns need parts replaced occasionally. (3) Police departments change firearms like I change underwear….. weekly, wether I need to or not. Basing your firearm decision on the decision of some low level politician or high level bureaucrat (which is who decides for departments) is as dumb as basing it off of what pistol your favorite guitar player carries as his EDC. (4) That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! And I have over thirty two years in the military, so that’s really saying something! Keep YOUR bugger hook OFF the trigger and OUT of the trigger well during reholstering! Having a grip safety makes it LESS likely to have a ND, but if you are still pulling the trigger safety and gripping the grip safety both, and you pull back on that trigger, than the boom stick gonna boom! Now imagine how much easier that ND happens without the grip safety! This point alone makes me say the following: “whoever the idiot is who told you the XD is unsafe for these reasons is a moron. Do not listen to morons, and do not be around morons at the gun range or anywhere else firearms will be handled as morons with firearms are dangerous. Seriously!” (5) Refer back to (4) and keep your bugger hook off the trigger and out of the trigger well, it is that simple, BUT if YOU can’t keep YOUR bugger hook OUT of the trigger well when reholstering (or any other time you think the gun shouldn’t be firing), than there is definitely a problem, it is you, and you shouldn’t be allowed to be around ANY firearms, not just the Springfield XD line……

The XD is a Ukrainian service pistol used by their police and military for decades. It’s a proven winner when it comes to reliability accuracy and shoot ability. Most those things up there are not true. One thing about the XD you do not want to dry fire it a lot. That is what ruins that roll pin and causes it to come out. Not firing the gun. If you use dummy rounds the pin will be fine. You can also easily upgrade the pin if you want. Otherwise XDs are super solid guns. Still one of the best in its price range almost 30 years after it’s release in America
