Just put a small piece of wood in the bottom of each bucket to keep them from sticking together. No need for a fancy device.

Why don't you just wedge the handle of the top bucket between the two buckets as you're putting them together ? Every bucket comes with it's own "come apart" device. LOL.

Actually, my handles wouldn't fit into the bucket. By the time the bucket was low enough in the space there isn't room for them to get in. Might work on some buckets but definitely not all and not most of the ones I have particularly with the plastic slip handle they have on them
