I think it because of the fact that Super Mario 64 DS came out few months before New Super Mario Bros, and both game use the same engine. This can been seeing by the characters model, already use theme, and some minigames like the bouncing Mario touch screen minigame. That's why few tracks from Super Mario 64 are in NSMB.

I have to say that nsmb on the ds is the most memorable of all 2d mario games (except maybe wonder) because of the credits, having a picture of every level makes you remember them so much more. For example if you tell me W6-5, in ds I know which level it is, in the other nsmb it's just a canyon level but which one ? no idea. And if you don't remember, just see the picture and it's back in memory

Iconic game! It was one of the best games back then and even now! Also playing as Luigi is a W! Mario is good too but I prefer Luigi more slightly. NSMB will always live on as the best NSMB game next to NSMBW imo. It also had the good Mario vs Luigi mode i played with my friends many years ago. Great video.
