The one advantage us 'older folk' have is that we were actually alive when the album came out. 'Being transported' is one of the great facets of music. It really 'tugs' at memories that have been 'buried' for a long time. This is probably the Bee Gee's greatest 'all around' song. It definitely has that 'atmosphere' of waking up on a really 'great' day.

The keyboard synth player is Blue Weaver. He joined the band in 1975 at the beginning of the Bee Gees blue eyed soul R&B period. He worked together with Barry to develop the opening song intro of several songs, like How Deep is Your Love, Our Love (Don't Throw It All Away), The Way It Was, and Songbird to name a few.

Wrong your way off the producer was Bill oakes I should no I've watched almost every documentary on the bee gees and the history of Saturday night fever ..... Also Robert stigwood was the bee gees manager at that time as was tony manero aka John Travolta was given a 1million dollars for. A ....3 picture deal ....... Starting with Saturday night fever.⭐👍 Also 2 of John's family are in Saturday night fever his sister who says hiya tony In Lennys pizza....2 .Or 3 with which tony says 2 is good and the lady in the paint store who says I've been waiting for almost half an hour .... Tony says a dollar off for you on this special gold paint $10.98 how da like that tony says to his mum and she says thank you

Wrong the bee gees producer was Bill oakes go google it I'm right 100 percent .......not sure where you got that stupid name FROM but it's Bill oakes all day long ......get yaself some of that I say ...... Also John g avildsen was originally the director from Rocky but got fired over script changes etc.,.... so Robert stigwood hired John badham to direct Saturday night fever....rest is history

What a Blast from the Past. 1977 and time to catch the fever. I was 11 years old and it wasn't until a year later after a move to our new house and seeing my first "R" rated film. The film was great, and the soundtrack even better than the film from which it comes from. Loved both the film and the soundtrack. It doesn't get better than this.

Ty I saw you the first time other day listening to "to much heaven" loved your reaction. I'm a man in my 50's thesr songs I grew up with. But back then it was either disco or what is now classic rock. I'm a Genesis Phil Collins fan but the Bee Gees are pure. I was 9 when this and that era of their music came out. I hear this and it really puts me back to constantly hearing it on the radio (and had the album as well). I know people say music is like a time machine, but I feel they say that as more of a figure a speech. But for me it kind of actually is as I feel no time has past when I listen to it. I feel exactly the same as when I first heard it. And the memory is more like sense memory coming back to life.

Hi Dani, Geoff here from Perth, Western Australia. I loved your insights into the singing and melodies of this. I especially liked your point that just because they’re “family”, it doesn’t take away from their work. I found myself wanting to add that these three gents, though born in England, were raised in Australia, and they had been performing since they were children. If you look them up their is very early footage of Barry, Maurice and Robin. There is also an Andy, and he came out with a song, “I Just Want To Be Your Everything”. Anyway, I love your reaction videos. PS. As a person who was younger than you when these songs were on the charts, there was no one bigger at the heights of Saturday Night Fever. It was everywhere. And disco was a serious force at the time.

That electronic synth sound (of the xylophone?) adds a touch of the whimsical in the music. Everytime I listen to this song, it just makes you want groove along, real relaxed. It's definitely one of the top 3 from the SNF album and that includes the Tavares version on the same album as well. That one had a slightly different vibe but still makes you want to get on your feet for a slow groove.

This song has excellent tempo and very good harmonies and the famous falsetto sound of Barry Gibb. It has an R&B Funk Pop sound. great reaction! I learned a lot from it. I know you're just reacting to the song but you should check out the song with the dance in it for the complete experience. On a little of a side note, a girl I was dating once taught me the steps to the dance, which are quite easy to learn, and we used to do it a lot at some of the Jersey shore clubs where this song is still played quite a bit. You're in NY so they probably do it there too and once you learn the steps then you can dance to it as well as listen! Once Covid is gone that is...all the best!
