Going to try these. I've been feeling stiff in the hip joints for a while and then I missed a step while coming down a ladder and over-stretched the area. Took me 2.5 months to stop limping with pain! Hoping these will help, because I struggle getting socks on now. I'm only 52. :(

What is the best exercise/s of the one with a lumbar- spine surgery? And with osteoarthritis..right knee pain causing the right leg to be shorter than the left leg. At first my legs were still longer & when I reach 72 & now i am 75 yrs old i noticed that my right knee & leg became shorter & not straight compared with my left knee & leg. Because of osteoarthritis my right knee & leg became shorter & not straight anymore & difficult to walk due to pain.

The exercise you show of lifting the knee and using the hand to assist holding it is exactly what I need. I wish you had a recommended a regimen (do ____ reps, ____ times a day). I also watched your Can't Lift Leg To Get In Car video. Also very good.

Glad the videos were helpful. I rarely give recommendations on exact number of reps, sets, times per day etc because it's different for each person based on their condition. If you want at baseline, basic recommendation, try starting with 10 times holding for 10 seconds each, once per day. You can do more or less as needed.

Swimming is a good exercise that likely won't hurt your hip. That said, it's probably not likely to substantially improve the problem either.

Thanks for this video. Very informative. I'm dealing with hip pain on the side when doing just two movements (putting on pants while standing and swinging my left leg into the car). Been doing PT for about 4 months with really no resolution. I was never told about the exercises you show here. Can you tell us how many reps to do the exercises, and for the one where you're seated, lifting the leg, then holding it, how long should we try to hold it? If I still lived in the St. Louis area, I'd come see you!

You're welcome. I usually don't give sets and reps because it varies by person and severity of condition. My general answer is usually 1-2 minutes for stretches and 10 x 10 second holds on the sitting one you asked about and for the balance exercise.

Great video, but my problem is not with my knee or the hips. It is due to the inflexibility of the spine. Or rather, the inability to arch the back. Tying the shoe lace has become such pain I have started using Slip-ins. This aging thing is really getting painful.

Most modern joint replacements are lasting 20+ years. That said, you'd need to talk to your doctor to figure out the specifics of your symptoms.

If its within the first few months after a hip replacement, check with your surgeon and PT as with some surgical techniques you're not supposed to flex your hip more than 90 degrees. If it's been quite awhile, then most likely they're ok.

The biceps...... my gosh....! I started having SEVER pain in my pelvic area on my right hip joint or tendon or something, I run alot but dont remember anything happening, it just started hurting so bad yesterday after sitting in church that I could barley walk when I stood up, no Idea what to do. I cant put my sock on my right foot and im in better shape than 99% of people I know.
