A nostalgia "where are they now" would be dope. Checking up on the iconic figures from the late 90s, early 2000s. It's always kind of surreal. Like when Steve made that apology video a little while back, shit made my brain glitch a little lol

I remember when I was MUCH younger that I saw an anti-smoking commercial made by Smoking Kills and in that commercial the guy was doing carpet work but there was this bump in the carpet. The guy freaked out, thinking it was his pack of smokes, so he stomped on it. However though, his wife and daughter come in and the wife hands him his pack of smokes. Heres the kicker; the daughter asks where is her hamster. As soon as she asked that, the father looked down where he stomped the bump and BLOOD started to pool under the carpet. The commercial ended with that scene and the phrase “SMOKING KILLS”. Still one of the best commercials in history.

For us Canadians, the House Hippo commercial is probably our most iconic and memorable. The irony of it being a PSA on not believing everything you're shown on TV yet my 6 year old ass went to look at night in the kitchen for said House Hippo for a while after seeing that...

I think it was probably a local commercial because meth is like huge in my town but it was a woman saying she was chewing a piece of gum and all of her teeth came out. Don't do meth kids. I was fucking terrified. Nightmares.

I have bad memories of Kid cuisine. I guess it's because not only was the meal ABSOLUTELY disappointing, it was in the period where my family lost light a lot so it was a school night where I had no light eating an immensly disappointing meal that me and my older sister had BEGGED for, for so long. Mind you we live in the caribbean so all of these "frozen kid meals" are not regularly in the budget so you know this was big. Overall, no fond memories attatched to that meal, it was ass.

A commercial I remember is for the dinosaur egg Quaker Oats oatmeal. I LOVED that. Also, the commercial for the diary that you'd lock with your voice. lol. That Cinnamon Toast Crunch commercial actually still airs sometimes, I think. Also, whenever I saw the Education Connection commercial, it would be in the middle of the day when there wasn't school(because you were home sick, because of holidays, because of summer). I feel like it especially aired on the channel that Maury, Montel Williams, and Jerry Springer were on.

It'll be cool if you went onto a rabbit hole of really obscured children's shows - like really forgotten shit that maybe only a few people watched or still remember watching. For me it was this South Park-esque show that was on abc Family called 'Three Friends and Jerry' - it was petty adult for the time especially for the channel it was on.

Does anyone else remember those weird ringtone commercials in the early 2000’s? Where you text something to a certain phone number to get a unique ringtone? Idk, early 2000’s barely made sense, sometimes in the best/worst ways possible.

Same with thinking only people with money could have the yogurt and that kids thing at the end. Never had either. I remember almost all of these commercials including Vonage and the singing college chick. I wanted a Zoobook sooo bad but I knew it would cost money compared to me just grabbing a book at the library so I never asked

i know i am so late to the party, but for solid suggestions: childhood physical toys (lincoln logs or linkin logs? cant remember the name, mighty beanz, hot wheels, other action figures / dolls, etc) childhood computer games (the scooby doo computer games live in my heart forever!!!), and music censored/changed for children :) kidz bop lyric changes are so fucking funny

A lot of these products, I feel like were just companies signing these celebs all kids knew and loved from Disney and nick shows, and they made stupid copies of products to sell. I also thought crushed cups were just rich people's snacks too. My mom would NOT pay that much for yogurt, and we really didn't even struggle. My mom or dad just couldn't afford extra, so we got the tub of yogurt too lmfaooo Edit: I just realized I'm old asf when you said 2008/2009. Im 25 now, and I would give ANYTHING to go back frfr. Cherish life yall
