Why on Earth would Habros schedule it to release the same weekend as the Avengers???

I love Mista GG but I feel like dismissing any criticisms of this take as pretentious is pretty annoying. The movie really isn't the most egregiously artsy thing ever made. It's just slow. It intentionally creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. It seems like they just wanted it to be another movie than it was but that isn't a reason to criticize it.

I hate this movie, and my friends likened the fun of it to Zombieland at the time. And I couldn’t disagree with them more. What is fun about a pick me dude fighting through a girl’s toxic exes while being horrible to several women throughout the movie including the girl he’s after. This is peak “body count” shaming too.

You don’t hate the movie, you hate the character. Media literacy is at an all time low.

The only movie where his character has EVER been injured to the point of death and put into a medically induced coma to wake up years to get vengeance is HARD to Kill(1990). After that, every movie character suffers from the "Teflon Man" effect.

A bunch of “reviews” how haven’t got a clue what the point of the film was and what the director was doing. YOU are why he made this film. She’s the same as 99% of KZbinrs who are self absorbed wanna be celebs, who never learn from their actions and opinions. They cause chaos and just move on. You have missed the point of this movie and it sums up channels like this.

I think all actors who played the vampires are conventionally hot, but their looks couldn't compete with the white plaster makeup, the freaky Yellow contacts and the terrible wigs 😂

17:02 so many people who talk about this movie now miss the extra level of comedy of the TRL bit. at the time, tara reid and carson daly were engaged. they started dating like a year before when tara appeared on an episode of TRL. they were a HUGE DEAL as a pop culture couple at the time, all over the tabloids and teen magazines. that’s why there’s that whole bit at the end of the scene when they talk about how in another universe, they totally would have dated!

this movie is one of my favorites of all time. the social commentary/satire is brilliant and so far so far ahead of its time. it’s hilarious and I still quote it all the time. probably my favorite parker posey performance - she is absolutely insane as fiona. also, the music unironically SLAPS.

I don’t care what anyone says, a movie or TV show that has Tim Curry in. It will always earn a star from me. He’s certainly one of those actors, who somehow manages to make the most garbage movie or show be good because of his performance. His Curry-sma.

OH BTW, this movie is a remake of All About Eve, and Black Swan is another adaptation too

I understand and agree that a lot of Showgirls is hard to watch, and the fact that the movie's goal is to show ugly experiences doesn't mean EVERY person has to like or appreciate it. But to me? It's one of the most honest movies about misogyny and corruption I've ever seen, on par with Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me. I think the backlash to this movie in 95 was more rooted in a combination misogyny, puritanism, and a lot of people in the industry feeling called out by it's depiction of sleazy showbiz men/complicit women. So the industry destroyed Elizabeth Berkeley's career, and audiences ate up the drama.

@MoreButter Yeah much like you I think a lot of people had issues with the genres strongly switching up throughout the film. However I think it went and still goes over a lot of peoples heads that it was done on purpose to disguise the twists in the film. In my honest opinion, its brilliant.

Didn't watch the trailers or read the reviews? Half as.... just to watch something because it was listed? A film like this isn't really about puppets it's the surface of British society like that town the hideous lergy of it which in a twisted way is funny ect. But the exposition of a puppet not literally who really cares? The catatonic state of the main character his futility is the movie is the state of the British psyche A banned puppeteer? 😂 Even in England the concept is ridiculous. But you can be arrested for wearing white socks 😂 True! But really Harold Pinter did it better 40 years ago and that's what this film smells like. That British nastyness and wallowing in it 😊

I L-O-V-E-D this movie! Simply because of Sofia Boutella. LOVE her. LOVE HER here. She is stunning and talented and amazingly beautiful. Plus Russell Crowe did fine. Also love the The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen / Van Helsing Vibe they went for. I would have been here for the entire Dark Universe. Amazing idea, great characters to work with, good choice over overall aesthetics. BUT. Not with Scientology Cruise. Not with those acting skills overall. Not with people just running around (like wtf?!). They had a lot of good ideas and moments but they destroyed it by wanting too much too soon. Like DC did with their movies too. The reason it worked with Marvel is that they introduced the heroes first and then went on to the universe and the connections within all of it. They left no space for the characters or viewers to dip their toes into the world, connecting emotionally. Filmmakers tend to forget Marvel had YEARS and many movies to set their multiverse up before ever letting their audience know there even was such a thing planned or actively going on already.

This is one of the few times I have to disagree. This movie was not as bad as you guys make it out to be. Its not a masterpiece but it was pretty good. I would give it a 7 only because I feel like there were a few missed opportunities to really drive home the disturbing factor that they missed. This movie really isnt that bad especially considering it was made in 2012.
