Morels, chicken if the woods, boletes, angel wings, blue oysters, chanterelles, lobster mushrooms, pig ears, and so much more. There are treasures I have found out in these woods in the Pacific Northwest. I am originally from Miami, and moved up to Washington state 4 years ago. Exploring the wild world of mycelium has been one of the most interesting adventures of my life. Always plant back and help create more. Don’t just take, but give back to nature too 🧤

I’m 18 years old and I have to say you are one of the major influences on my love of fungi. I find these sweet mushrooms fascinating. I’ve started cultivating my own. Thank you for all you do and the inspiration you give mr stamets.

This is awesome! I'm going to have to remember that bit about perennial morel patches, didn't know that was a thing. Just went out hunting last Thursday and got over a pound of Blondies and Black Morels. Not to mention I found some coral fungus, and a patch of Calvatia Booniana (Western Giant Puffball). Fungi are amazing :)

Hey bud, I bought one of your books today and knew of your cabin in the woods from a lecture of yours. I'm reading the first part where you were telling about a flood and going to rescue you books at the cabin and stopped to see the name of the author . It was you ! Cool, thanks for the work !

Question- If that tree we’re sprayed for apple scab would it wipe out the perennial morel patch? In the Midwest it’s common to “treat” oaks, elms, and apples with a fungicide. I wonder about the collateral damage homeowners inflict on their property trying to save a declining tree

use Sulphur or copper spray in peak periods of fungal outbreak. organic is the way to go

I found about 50 nice Ones on my property and have been going back to try and find them again, never showed up. It’s been 5 years now, sounds like I’m not so lucky. I logged about 7 years ago and they brought an excavator and some other equipment, I think they brought the spores in. It was right on top of the old log deck

If truly an old apple orchard of size have soil checked. Arsenic was used a lot to control coddling moths back in the day. The morels pick up the arsenic. Plenty of morels, plenty of arsenic make for bad innards.

Hey Paul, love your work. However just curious as to if there's any benefit difference in wild vs lab grown mushrooms? And also as to why mycelium is primary used in host defence products versus the fruit body?

Morrels are the mushroom that got me into eating mushrooms. As a kid you couldn't pay me to. Over the last 14 years I've learned so much about morrels, I feel like every year I learn more secrets that are not common knowledge. Things I feel like the average morrel hunter will never know. They will grow in the same areas for longer spans than people think. Often people think they haven't started or are all done. It's all about micro climates!

I got a question. If we ever get to some other planet like Mars or something, is it possible to create life there by using fungi ? I mean its a primary component known to us, right ? Or we need water first ? Maybe there are some shrooms that can create water out of rocks ? :D

Каждый год собираем с удовольствием в Московской области. Чаще в хвойных лесах, а так же там, где есть песок, в мягких почвах, с середины апреля до начала июня, в июне реже, так же их можно встретить осенью в сентябре - октябре, но крайне редко.
