Just thought about it. There's approximately 3,000 members in a stake. 90,000 submissions since 2015 is the loss of 30 stakes in 6 years!

That doesn't factor the people who just walk away and don't take the time to resign. My mom, dad, sister, her 3 kids and brother in law never resigned and haven't been to church in 4 years. So in reality it's likely well over 100 stakes the last 5 years
@mindeloman3 жыл бұрын
@@t-pain3343 yep.....completely agree. And I think that is being seen in some of the more liberal parts of the county. My sister tells the church is noticeably retracting in Oregon. I don't have specifics on that. It's just her observation. The real irony: My dad served his mission in Oregon. His mission went back and forth with a mission in Brazil on being the top baptizing mission in the world.

I left the Church in the late 1970’s and submitted my resignation letter in 1978. The convened a Bishop’s Court in 1980 and I went there to discuss my reason for leaving, Christianity never left the earth, Joseph Smith was absolutely not a prophet, and the Mormons are polytheistic. Those were my three reasons. The Bishop’s Court listen and then told me they are going to excommunicate me. They told me if I ever changed my mind, I would be welcomed back with open arms. There was no resigning in that day, they had to drag you through the mud, and they announced it in Church (this I was told, true or not, I’m not sure). I said, thank you regardless of the person cost or humiliation. I left, happier than ever!
@mindeloman3 жыл бұрын
I could have my facts wrong so please feel free to correct - i think before the 1980's the only way out of the church was excommunication. The church offered no way for resignation short of that. I recall reading there was a lawsuit filed sometime in the early 80's and it forced the church to actually provide a way for resignation without the indignity of a "court of love." But they still make you walk thr gauntlet. And let's never forget: the church is like the hotel California. You can check in any time you like, but you can NEVER leave. You are on permanent file with them. Resignation accomplishes getting you off the public contact list.

Oh my goodness! Mark’s fear of Satan as a child totally sounds like my youngest daughter. I was raised atheist/agnostic, but once I had my first daughter I went running toward Christianity and landed as a Seventh Day Adventist. My youngest daughter went to an SDA school for all of elementary and junior high. In second or third grade she developed an obsessive fear of Satan, and Hell. The SDA church also is pretty anti-Catholic, when her Sabbath school class would discuss that it, on more than one occasion, led her to tears. We left the SDA church by the time that daughter we switched to United Church of Christ. That worked for me because I am a fairly left-wing Democrat. We stayed at UCC for about four years. Now, mostly we are pagan,; no dancing naked on the full moon, no sacrificing, we do not belong to a coven.....no tithing, no evangelizing, no guilt for not being good enough. I log onto your channel once every month or so even though I have never been LDS. Because your channel discusses sex and the LDS church occasionally; I want to address one thing about the SDA church we belonged to. The pastor would discuss his pornography eduction during his sermon! My husband, who did not go to church with us, described it as “euphoric recall”. It was kind of almost like an exhibitionist. Anyway, I kind of rambled. Thanks for listening.

Thanks for sharing your story. While I was born to a Mormon family and because of my dad’s job, we moved around a lot. Including a 5 years outside of the US. So as a child, we attended a SDA school because it was the only elementary school that taught in English. That means for years, I had SDA religious class every day. What fascinates me is that there are some similarities between Mormonism and the Adventist. But that makes sense because they were both born during the Second Great Awakening and in the same general area. And I can also say there are some weird church going people who’ve been super obsessed with sex so much, it even came up in sermons or talks! I ended up the opposite as you; I’m actually an atheist now and can not justify a belief in a deity. But wouldn’t life be boring if we all believed the same thing? ;) Stay safe.

It was at that point I wrote the bishop another letter asking to have my name off the books. He sent it to church offices and I then got the letter saying I had thirty days to change my mind or was going to Hell. Thirty days came and went and then my final removal letter. Amazing how accurate you’re describing how us resigned feel. Yes stages of grief fear of blow back losing community kids losing their friends in the neighborhood what is the wife going to say how is she going to react and so on but I know I need to Be an example and do it I know it’s right. My husband resigned more than 5 years ago. He received a letter of confirmation within a couple of weeks, no contacts after. It worked.

I'm surprised Mark didn't go with Dr. Strange. "I've come to bargain dromamu" sounds like a similar process to dealing with McKonkie.

Mormons are the best example of, "Nice does not equal good. These are not synonymous. Nice people are not good people, and some good people are not nice." This has taken me a long time to learn. But watching House of Cards definitely helped. :P

That’s crazy, I am a non practicing Catholic, I know I am still on the books, but no one has ever contacted me, and if I went to the priest at the church I went to, he wouldn’t know if I had or hadn’t been attending services, how do they keep track of so many people?

Wow! It's like the Breaking Bad of confirmation letters. I hope he doesn't have to keep spraying them to keep the bugs at bay

That false theory of an ever burning hell has done more to extract people from Christianity than anything else. God is love. He's knocking at your door, but if you don't open the door he'll break in and torture you forever. Makes total sense, right???

I agree, and I think it’s especially difficult for ex-Mormons to buy into that. That’s why I think going the Christian Universalism route is a great way to be able to hold on to Christian beliefs without having to also believe in the eternal hell teaching (which I have come to personally believe is a misinterpretation of scripture). Most early Christians did not believe in eternal conscious torment of non-believers.

Also God loves us unconditionally.. Jesus died for all of us. God blesses everyone.. that's why people who aren't members still get many blessings!

Mark Naugle is an angel for providing this service. Love his approach! 😎 I wouldn’t put it past the Mormon church to find a way to stop this service, they are such a corrupt organization😣

Chase bank offers a free notary, if you happen to bank there? Or check with your bank if otherwise… you might be able to land a free notary. :)

Does anyone know How to find that my name was actually removed from the LDS church? I resigned my membership 24 years ago by letter but never received confirmation that my name was removed.

Record keeping is incredibly similar within the JWs, as well, all of it as described in this video. It's infuriating, exhausting and highly invasive and controlling. The endless calls and visits from the elders, the requests to "meet with you," ; all of it. Uggg. ZERO boundaries. They keep records on any "sins" you have committed and these records stay in your files forever and follow you to any and all new congregations.

All signs of cultism... Real Christian churches practice as Jesus taught.. keeping records of your sins means you aren't actually forgiven of them.

@@user-bw3fl7fj9w I agree that I have no need of God's forgiveness. A creator of the universe judging humans guilty for being human would be like me judging ants for not being able to do calculus. Absurd. Such an unmoving concept.

Great interview, I only vaguely knew about his organization. It is incredibly generous of Mark Naugle to commit to free services to anyone who wants them, he said because people have already paid so much in tithing. Which is obviously not his fault but he makes amends for it daily. That is the spirit of true charity and generosity, from someone who doesn't have $100B sitting in an investment account I would surmise. Having a few guardrails so people can't submit others' names to punk them is reasonable but that is something for QM to manage, not be continually slow-walked and barrier after barrier put in place. Meanwhile, how many dead people of other faiths - or none - are baptized year after year despite protests and getting outed? Like Anne Frank and on and on. Seems like the guardrails are in the wrong places on the CJCLDS side.
