Finding this tool really interesting so far. A few questions though: 1. I don't fully understand the inner circle, middle circle, outer cycle, because obviously, once I start adding related channels, I start with the most related and quickly end up on the outer circle (like you are in your image). My assumption is that inner, middle and outer is to do with size of channel,, but then there are some sharing the outer circle with me which are bigger channels than the middle circle, so this assumption must be incorrect. 2. The related match percentages don't make sense to me. I first added the other channels I know of which do exactly the same as me, and then ones which do very similar (so I create my own original hypnosis meditation bedtime stories, but there are channels which do exactly the same but just call them guided meditations or hypnosis stories etc, but if you listen to them, they are no different to what I do, then there are channels which do 'bedtime stories' in a meditation voice, sometimes with a relaxation technique before the story, but focus all their videos on reading out of copyright works rather than creating their own original stories). Not a single channel has 100% match (yet if I click on some of the channels like mine I see the list of related channels and some of these in relation to the other channels have 100% match) and the closest channel is 70% match and selecting the channels I feel are the closest match to what I do, posting very similar content are between 10% and 30% matches. So I don't really know how the matching works? And today it showed another related channel to mine to check out, so I checked it out and it was definitely not a match and one I've previously passed on. 3. A shorter question relating to the Topics tab, when selecting the most popular and burners only, none of my videos were in the results, so I was wondering if that is because the results don't show your own channel's videos? Because I know in relation to 'burners', over the weeks before this tool launched I've been manually doing similar and have posted 3 videos based on my hours of studying KZbin results etc, and all 3 videos have done significantly better than any video I've released in a long time (I post weekly), they all stand out and the three videos have led to my channel getting 10% more views compared to the previous month, 40% more subscribers, 15% more revenue and 20% more impressions, with my top 4 videos in the previous 28 day period getting 24k views and all being old videos, and my top 4 this period (with the videos launching weekly across this period, so one video has 1 week of views, one has 2 weeks of views, etc) already having 53k views, and on Morningfame my 'views from visitors' has gone from hovering around 10-12% for many months now, rising to 58% in the most recent information. So, I would say that these recent videos have all been burners for my channel, all getting 6-13 times more views already than most of my previous videos have got in a much longer time period. An additional question, not related to the new tool, but something I've thought about a lot. It would be great if the reports/traction page, could show compared to the previous week. When it refreshes I have to have written down what my situation was before it refreshes, so that I can see which symbols and percentages have changed to try to see what has improved or declined. So, it would just be helpful, even if it was just having a green up arrow/triangle or red down arrow/triangle next to symbols to show which way each one has moved and perhaps a yellow line or something for no change, so that at a glance it is possible to see what movement is happening. Thank you for all of your work on Morningfame. I find it such a helpful tool... All the best Dan
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a ton for your detailed feedback Dan! Alright, let me respond: 1. Indeed, the circle diagram shows your niche from an absolute standpoint and since you are a small channel, you are still on the outer circle. Btw, the whole purpose of the tool is to help you to move slowly to the center of your niche which happens with the research you do in the second tab. But back to why the circles seemingly don’t match the size of the channel: What it really shows is how connected these channels are in regards to KZbin’s recommendations. In particular and arrow from channel A to channel B means that if a viewer watches channel A then KZbin’s recommendations make it very likely (big arrow) / less likely (thin arrow) that the viewer discovers channel B. And if we take all these arrows between the channels into account, we can see that especially the channels in the inner circle manage to “suck people in”. So if viewers watch almost any channel in the niche, KZbin’s recommendations will rather sooner than later ensure that the viewers stumble upon those channels in the inner circle as well. Pure channel size doesn’t matter for that. It’s how well these channels trigger KZbin’s recommendations. 2. Yea, calling it a “match” is not intuitive to understand. I explained the arrows above. A high percentage match will show as a big arrow and a low percentage match will show as a thin arrow. It’s the same thing. So it is not about how similar the channels are in terms of their content but rather how connected the channels are in the eye of KZbin’s recommendations system. And that recommendations system sees channels as close together if many viewers watch both channels. Think audience overlap in a sense. 3. Did you try selecting “Latest Videos” plus the Burners checkbox? Then you videos should show up. It is actually rare that videos are both a most popular videos and a Burner at the same time. Burners are defined as videos that are max. 3 months old. The most popular videos, however, are most often videos that are much older. I am actually debating for some time if I should just disable the Burners checkbox for Most Popular videos. I think it confuses many people. And regard to the Traction tab: It already has a way to tell you what changed. If a symbol changed compared to last week then it’s circle around it is yellow. If it didn’t change then the circle is gray. If you want to know how big the change was then click the “Full Stats” button below the video and in there you see all number with a last week change row. Does this help? Thanks again pal! :)

@OH8STN2 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame from the channel perspective, one would expect to be at the center of the Circle. I read your explanation why it isn't so, which was a good answer. I also found it odd to start from the channel perspective rather than a "niche topic". Larger channels are often trying to dominate topics, regardless of who the video is published by. For me that topic could be "portable solar power". This is true although the niche from a channel perspective is "ham radio". Make sense?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Julian! This is really valuable to know. Today I actually heard more people thinking like that about the niche circles. And it makes sense since you sometimes see such a diagram with your own social media account in the center. I’ll make sure to include that in my future tutorials! And indeed, this type of research here is very different than what we are used to - especially when coming from the SEO world. Fyi, the starting point - although it looks like it - is not about the channels really. It is rather about the basic idea that all channels in one niche share one big audience. So the starting point is really the audience that watches videos in the niche. And the channels in the niche are rather the manifestation of what the viewers consume. Through those channels we essentially learn what those viewers really want to watch. In the end the whole research process couldn’t be less about the channels. It is all about understanding the audience in that niche that share one particular interest which is indulging in their ham radio hobby. :) While writing this, I realize that you are in a sense indeed starting from a “ham radio” perspective. At least in a sense. You do this by adding all channels that target ham radio enthusiasts and by ignoring channels that target other people. Anyways, that’s just different wording in the end. I get your point. Thanks a lot for that! :)

How many channels should i add? Is the more the better? Cause i can spend like 2 hours adding and adding hundreds of channels.
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question pal! How do you currently decide which channels to add and which to ignore? The goal is to find channels that attract the same audience as you do. Since you are doing series of a handful of specific games, it would make sense to focus on channels that have many videos about the same games that you play as well. In the end it would be a good list of channel if you stay below 100 channels. Is that possible with the focus that I suggest?
@ItsAllGoodGames2 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame I’m lookin for channels that play “io” style games. There’s lots channels like that, big and small. If I should stay below 100, should I focus on bigger channels like 100k plus subscribers? Is it better to get bigger channels that only partially do my type of content versus smaller channels that do only my type of content?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Great definition of your niche! I would focus on all channels that mainly focus on io style games as well. I know that Kwebbelkop played slither.io in the past but he is more about the big games like GTA5. So I would not include him. So I assume that reduces the number of channels by a lot. Inevitably you’ll of course find small channels as well and I would include them unless they do not publish regularly. Their small size doesn’t matter but they should be active.
@ItsAllGoodGames2 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame ahh ok so active channels makes sense. There’s still a lot of channels that do only io games, I’m tempted to just keep adding them cause I’m worried I’ll miss a good channel to add if I stop at a 100. Will it actually hurt the effectiveness of the tool if I add too many channels?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
@@ItsAllGoodGames Awesome! If you add a particular channel then it is important that most of their videos speak to the right audience. Otherwise you’ll have many videos in the II. Topics tab that are unrelated to what you are doing. They essentially add noise to your research where you want to find patterns in those videos. I’d say just get started with a set of channels you think are a good fit and then see how well you can do your research in the II. Topics tab. You will probably recognize if a channel oftentimes shows up with videos that are not interesting to you at all. You can then remove this channel from your niche again. I hope that helps!

I track similar channels via a spreadsheet and this is a super helpful tool that surfaced a bunch of channels I didn't know about. Perhaps this will be answered later, but one question I have is around the inner/middle/outer rings and how channels are placed on them? There are some channels in my inner ring (2 out of 3) that don't feel as relevent to my channel as some other channels in the middle and outer rings. Will there be a way to move these around?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
That is awesome to hear Marc! And excellent question! I will create a full tutorial for it in the future but here is the gist of how the niche circles work: Morningfame mirrors how KZbin’s recommendations work. If you click on a channel then you see how a viewer of the selected channel discovers other channels in your niche via KZbin’s recommendations. And overall, viewers tend to discover the channels in the inner circle more often than on the outer circle. So the inner circle is kind of a magnet for viewers. If a viewer starts watching videos in that niche, they inevitably will stumble upon the channels in the inner circle and very likely those channels in the middle circle. Overall the goal of the whole tool - based on the research you will be doing in the II. Topics tab - is to move your channel closer and closer to the center of the niche. This essentially happens by triggering KZbin’s recommendations more and more with your videos - that is your videos get promoted more and more by the Browse and Suggested Videos algorithms. So given all that, sorry, no, you won’t be able to move around the channels. The circle diagram has a specific meaning which would be lost if you change it yourself. If you have channels in there that don’t feel relevant to your channel then just remove them. The purpose of the I. Niche tab is to collect all channels that target the same audience as you do. I hope that makes sense!
@NoRecipes2 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame Thank for the detailed explanation, that makes total sense. It also explains why my channel is off to the outside and not in the center. I guess what this is saying is that the channels in the inner circle are the ones I should look to the most for inspiration?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
@@NoRecipes Awesome! Indeed, the channels in the inner circle basically figured it out the best to attract the audience in your niche. The thinking is that the whole niche has one shared audience where individual viewers watch multiple channels in this niche. All channels have to figure out what those viewers really want to watch and those channels in the inner circle are there for a good reason - most viewers watch their videos. In any way, that doesn’t mean that channels in the outer circle can’t be good for inspiration as well. They might touch on a well chosen topics themselves every now and then as well. In any way, the research in the II. Topics tab is designed to extract from all channels what the viewers want to watch. Fyi, the II. Topics tab is released now! See my latest video. :)

what is the significance of the circles and where should your own channel appear?
@Morningfame Жыл бұрын
Great question buddy! The thinking behind it is this: All circles together depict one niche on KZbin. This means that you collect all (most) channels that exist in that niche. And a channel belongs to that niche if the channel targets the same audience that all other channels in the niche target. So 1 niche = 1 target audience. Think of an audience like a group of people who share a common interest. Like in your case all people who are interested in social debates as you comment on these topics on your channel. Of course, these people do not only watch one channel that fits their interest. As we all do, they watch multiple channels in that niche to feed their curiosity. Now comes the KZbin Recommendations System into play: It understands that the above people want to watch videos from channels in that niche. But which videos should the AI promote more or less? - Inner Circle: Their videos get promoted to that audience the most. - Middle Circle: Their videos get promoted to that audience as well. Just not as strongly. - Outer Circle: Their videos get promoted a bit but not to an extend that it produces big traffic yet. The whole purpose of the tool is to move a channel from the outer circle towards the inner circle. The next episode linked in the end screen - kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4nZoJ53jLl1mq8 - explains how. New / small channels always start at the outer circle. And the more a channel succeeds in getting promoted by KZbin’s algorithm, the closer it moves to the inner circle. So where your channel appears, tells you how far you are along that growth journey. I hope this helps! :)

Just the pure attempt of yours to create a "keyword search" tool but for Browse and Suggested cannot be overstated. I try not to hype myself up too much but I won't lie and say that I am really excited to see what you came up with. My channel has a bad history with Browse and Suggested. While Search works fine the former sources do not. I used to have a lot of Browse Feature views after a couple of my videos exploded but after that, my views just went more and more down. By default, only the “My Niche” and “Collaborators” niches get created. All others you must have created yourself via the “Manage Niches” link. Feel free to use the link again and archive those niches that you do not need anymore. That said, I see that you have around 1000 channels in a niche. Sorry, that is way too many. This hints at a too broad definition of your niche. To define a niche in a way that it is truly helpful once you get access to the II. Topics tab, you should check every channel - to see if they target the same audience as you do - before you decide to add the channel to the niche. Let me know in case you would like to me to clear your “My Niche”. You can archive / delete the other niches yourself via the “Manage Folders” link if you want.

@@Morningfame I have them ready to go. Probably a hundred or more and there are more waiting to be added. Is there an optimal amount of channels or is more really better
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
@@doggosuggested6153 Awesome! I actually have 61 in my niche. 100 would be normal still I think. But if you go beyond that then it’s probably a sign that you should define your niche more narrowly. For example if you consider channel in different languages as well then you are better off if you create multiple niches - it’s already possible to do in the tool - and put all English channels into one niche, all Spanish into another etc. Also look at the latest videos of each channel more closely to see if they really attract the same audience as you do with their videos. Oftentimes we find channels that touch on the same topics as we do from time to time but are rather situated in another niche. Like with the “make money online” example that I showed in my video. If you are interested in a related niche as well then you can always create a separate niche for it. I hope that helps!
@ChillVanlife2 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame problem is when I add a channel it then suggests probably 20 more and I check those and they are relatable to my channel. My channel is stealth van camping so I have really only used people in that niche and in UK. Just some are only 100 subs and some are 250k subs. I think I will make sure I keep it under 100.
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
@@ChillVanlife Indeed, it always looks up 20 related channels for each channel. Well, if there really are so many stealth van camping channels out there then of course add them. There is no precise rule how big a niche should be. There are bigger niches and small ones certainly. All I really think is that if you are above 100 channels then this could hint at a too broad niche definition. But it may also be fine. One thing you may also consider is the type of audience channels attract: Are these channels for people who do stealth camping themselves? Or is a channel mainly an entertainment channel that is aimed at a regular audience who just enjoy a camping focussed vlog. In any way, you may wait for the release of the second tab and then you’ll see if you happened to have added channels that clutter up your research in the second tab. You can of course remove the channels later if needed.

In the second part of the quick start guide, you send us to this video to explain us about keywords to dominate browse and suggested. But after watching all the tutorials of this tool I am not sure If I understand how to manage the keywords. Once I have found all the channels in my niche that attract more views and found the patterns, i guess our target is to get suggested in their videos. Could you explain a bit more how to achieve that throw the use of keywords in our own videos? I would love you to do one video about that, or at least explain a little bit further here. Should we analyze if they use some keywords consistently in all their videos? 🤔
@Morningfame7 ай бұрын
This strategy actually does not work with keywords at all - like I tease at the end of this video. The process is what I plan to support with the III. Patterns tab. Since tool support for this last step is not really necessary, you can easily do it yourself, I explained the todos in the III. Pattern with text. Just have a look and let me know if you have any follow-up questions: morningfa.me/niche-spy/patterns
@elarbolsabio7 ай бұрын
@@Morningfame Yes, I had read what you wrote in tab III. I assumed the way we could make the algorithm know we were making a video about the same topics was through the use of keywords. And for example, if we find a pattern around one specific topic, but the words we use in the tittle are used by many other channels, couldn't that stop our video from being suggested? Shouldn't we research about that in the same way we do with SEO?
@Morningfame7 ай бұрын
Well, it certainly doesn’t hurt to apply SEO to your video if you find search terms that happen to fit the video topic well. But for the growth strategy that the Niche Spy is built for, it is actually important that the video title is very similar to the titles of the other videos that you collected in your pattern. The growth strategy focusses on the Browse & Suggested algorithms which both recommend videos alongside each other that are similar. So your goal must be to make sure that the algorithms identify your video as belonging to the group of videos in your pattern. You do that by using a similar video title. Of course, this is quite the opposite of SEO where you look for search terms that have low competition, which means that only few other videos use. So long story short, use a similar video title. But if you can find keywords that fit well in there, too, then go for it!

When would you say you collected enough channels for step 1? Because you could go through hundreds of channels and add a lot. But is that really necessary. Would step 2 still be effective if you collected say 20 or so related channels?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Great question Vinny! I’d say 10 channels is still a bit weak. But 20 is already great. In the end it is all about how many videos the II. Topics tab will have for the research. So if you have difficulties to find patterns in the videos because there are too few videos available then it is a good idea to go back to the I. Niche tab to add more channels. But always keep in mind that the channels that are added have to target the same audience.

On this where you can add new Niches it allows you to add name of channels and links of channels but you are not able to make in inner outer or middle Circle the add channel button only allows you to find the channels not add them to new Niches. is this a bug?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion pal! It seem that this feature is not intuitive enough. I remember that someone else was confused as well. You can indeed add channels to your niche. But it is a 2 step process. 1. You enter the channel name or link and then you need to click the “Show Details” button. 2. You arrive on the channel detail page where you can finally add the channel to your niche. I will tinker this a bit to make it more intuitive! Thanks for letting me know. :)

This looks promising and I will definitely try it out... However before I do I have a question I had meant to ask for some time now, which becomes even more relevant I guess with this new feature. What if MorningFame displays the wrong niche? According to the workshop I'm in the autos and vehicles niche... But I'm not. If there is a place to change this, I have yet to find it. I am nomad on a motorcycle, living in a tent, and sharing my adventure. Sure I do have the occasional video about the maintenance of my bike... But my core content is about the places I visit or the gear I use and recommend and how to use it. Does this matter at all for this new tool? I suspect it might... And yes I know I could have sent this as a support request however I feel this is relevant.
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Great question pal! The categories that are used in the Workshop tab are not niches really. There are only about 10 categories and hence this always does not classify a channel well. After all we have way more than 10 niches on KZbin. That said, the new tool does not care about this category. You will see that it’s way more advanced. Just give it a try and follow the process as I showed in this video. And let me know if you have any further questions along the way. Enjoy!
