Finally, someone who i can understand perfectly! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I was blown away by your older videos, that’s what made me subb your channel and pay for a subscription on Morningfame. Again, congratulations on that great work! Cheers!
@YogaBlissDance4 жыл бұрын
Nuno Yt like videos abut same thing- IF YOUR viewers like it. They tend to topic/niche focus, that's why wide subject channels are hard to start now.
@Morningfame4 жыл бұрын
@Nuno Casais Thanks buddy! That is really great to hear. :) You make a good point about specific advice for certain niches. We KZbin advice channels need to stick with general advice that appeals to all creators. But my live streams allow me to dig deeper since I do channel reviews there. And these include many music channels as well. If you are interested then check out my past live streams. I almost always leave timestamps in the description so that you may watch just the parts that are most relevant to you. Indeed @Yoga Bliss Dance, narrowing down the topics that any one channel covers is really important nowadays. That basically makes sure that each video is of interest to all viewers of the channel. With that focus it is much easier to expand that audience as opposed to having a split audience which is twice as much work to grow as we would need to produce separate videos for both halves of the audience.
@YogaBlissDance4 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame Yep I've seen that, we need to think of it for one specific group of people and they come for certain types of topics that work together so not like football and cooking! No! To see many views from Browse in the first days after upload is due to your active subscribers. Those who have your channel high up in the favorites list that I explained in this video. Of course, after a while most of them have watched your video. So it is normal that views don’t continue to come in. @Morningfame4 жыл бұрын
My pleasure Daryl! Actually, it was not easy to explain it until very recently. The thing with the favorites list is something that Todd from KZbin’s algorithm team shared not too long ago for the very first time. I put a link in the description in case you are interested in his official statements. With that it all made sense. And indeed, Suggested Videos and Home are both driven by the same recommendation engine. Both algorithms are basically different flavors of it. And the recommendation engine even looks for other traffic sources that indicate a video worth promoting. And that includes videos which do well in KZbin Search. So all in all it really is all connected. Cheers to that buddy! 😃🍻

Wow, I knew you were special Nick! ;)) Indeed, the subscription tab is still a good view driver. Small compared to Home though. @Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! These extra views were most likely because the Home algorithm tested the video with a new audience group. This happens all the time btw. @Morningfame3 жыл бұрын
“Browse” is a group of traffic sources consisting of “Home” and “Subscriptions” primarily. For Subscriptions in general and because you are a small channel also for Home as well, these traffic sources promote your new videos to your subscribers. So if you upload a new video then you see more Browse traffic. And it is natural that this traffic gets smaller again until your upload another video. Your subscribers only have something new to watch if you upload another video. I hope this helps!

The fewer choice you give people on the end screen the better. Daniel Batal has a whole story behind all that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqqmpINjd5Zjh9U No, Home is relevant to all viewers. Hey hey, Nico! Thank you much for generous sharing of knowledge! I'm a Morningfame subscriber and I actually actually ended up rewatching this video because one of my recent vids seems to have triggered the Home algorithm. However, I'm a bit confused as to how this happened. Right now, it' seems to be the only one that is being recommended and it's getting quite a few views compared to normal but quite low retention and I haven't gained any subscribers since before I posted it. Does this mean I have a good thumbnail or title but failed to deliver in the actual content? And if this is the case, how did it get triggered at all? Thanks again, mate!
@Morningfame Жыл бұрын
Wow Holli, that‘s a big spike! What I always do in these cases is to open the „Full Algo List“ for that video in the Algorithm tab of Morningfame to see if traffic from other traffic sources give us a more complete picture. In this case, however, the Home spike is the work of the Home algorithm itself. And it is definitely the topic of the video which is something different than you usually upload. Keep observing its views in the coming days and weeks to see how strong it will get promoted and try to understand what is unique about the topic. Maybe you can create more videos around that topic. And in regards to the audience retention, of course follow your gut in order to decide whether you could have done a better job at meeting expectations but know that if a video gets promoted to more people, these metrics tend to always go down because the wider reach also attracts viewers who are outside of your core viewers and those are not as engaged in general. Fingers crossed this will evolve even further! 😃👌

Hi morning fame ! I have 2 questions to ask regarding youtube search algorithm.. 1. The problem is that sometimes when we see the search results about a particular query; we see even those videos ranked which are far from being relevant to the keyword and have very less watchtime ( according to the views).. May you please tell that how do they get to such high rank ? I mean no relevancy and no watchtime but still on the top. How? 2. We know that watch time matters for search results ranking. But is it the watchtime for the particular query? Or they base their ranking on watchtime gained through whatever source?
@Morningfame4 жыл бұрын
Great questions Aqib! No. 1: There are many reasons. One could be that KZbin just doesn’t have any other more relevant videos to show. Thus it falls back to less relevant videos. Or just do the search again. The video in question may only show up in some searches because the algorithm is testing the video in regards to whether it fits the search term or not and if it should show the video more often. No. 2: Watch time is indeed important. But we cannot say how high it is for the videos. But it is not the only factor. Click through rate is very important, too.

Some videos blow up (browse features) after a few months what is the reason for that?
@Morningfame3 жыл бұрын
There are actually countless reasons. It could be that the algorithm finds a new audience group for which the video is performing well or it could be something external like a trend that is making its wave. Was there maybe some game release in your niche that made your video more relevant?

Established subscribers driving a video's long-term effectiveness makes sense, but also seems like it may keep channels from seeing success when trying something new if it strays too far from what they are already making, unless they can craft it in a way to appeal to their subscribers anyway. A thumbnail meant for subscribers that gets replaced with a more evergreen thumbnail after a week or so makes a lot of sense in that case. I definitely need to set up a good binge-watchable series; I have "seasons" set up already, but they are very disjointed. When I started out, I was hoping to build a library that works like browsing wikipedia, where you just keep looking at the link to something you don't understand and learn something new, but that takes a long time to build!
@Morningfame4 жыл бұрын
Good point about trying something new and taking a risk with it! Indeed, a new video topics that you didn’t proof to work well with your audience can tank your video. But there is nothing to worry about in the grander theme of your channel. Actually, in the same video that I linked in the description, Todd from KZbin’s algorithm team stated that the algorithms don’t have a channel score in any sense. And he even continues to say that they know well that a new video of a channel is not always successful and they don’t want to penalize a channel for that. Then again, better space those experimental videos out. If you tank too many videos in a row then your audience may lose interest. That is then like a penalization. Not from the algos but from your audience. That is of course common sense then. Awesome, I hope you can string your videos together. Here is the technique again which helps a great deal for that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX29n4eMoLKihZY

Do you think that the algorithm is reading the video content ?
@Morningfame2 жыл бұрын
It certainly is in regard to the text in the closed captions. It may also do video analysis to some extend. But that is only a guess because it is technically possible. If KZbin really does it, is unclear. The algorithm would certainly work well without doing so.

One of my videos did incredibly well the previous month. It obtained 14k views primarily from browse features, however abruptly KZbin stopped showing the video on the Home Screen and switch the traffic source to search. Which results in 300 views a day rather than 800. How is this possible? Does this happen with you guys as well? And is it possible to get the traffic back at it was before? Please let me know if you know the answer or have the same issue!
@Morningfame3 жыл бұрын
Do you think it is really a switch of the traffic sources? Or is it rather a wave of views from Home that just died down after some time and Search happened to pick up in views during that time? How do the daily views from Home look like day by day? Did you get 800 views per day for a whole month or rather was it like a wave?
@ContentPiano3 жыл бұрын
@@Morningfame Eventually the home traffic was a big wave, first week it got like 200-300, 2nd week 300-600 and at his peek 1k in a day and after it dropped out until it is now 100 views a day for the Home Screen views. From that moment search views increased from 100 to 400 a day, which isn’t that bad, but feels rather kinda strange.
@Morningfame3 жыл бұрын
@@ContentPiano I see! Well, that sounds quite normal / healthy to me. If Search works well then it picks up daily views over time and that is what I think happened to you independent of whatever Home did. For Home, a big wave can start after you publish a new video or later as well but what happens during this wave is a cascading effect where the Home algo shows the video to a wider and wider audience. At one point, however, this effect reaches its limit. I have visualized this effect in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGSmoKynqptjfrM I hope this helps!

Some of his videos have ctr above 11% and avd above 40% but only getting views between 200/300 what should he do.
