The Brian B Ban idea was a topic Darien had mentioned about people going nuts over One of Brian’s leopard Gecko Ads on Morph Market. 29:13 BHB - Brian’s breeding company offered leopard geckos for sale but used a picture of an Individual Gecko, not titled “representation photo” gecko picture. The same gecko was purchased multiple times and people went crazy that they purchased a gecko that was not the one in the picture due to a typo in the advertisement. Essentially, multiple people bought the same gecko and went crazy over a simple innocent mistake. It created quite a fuss, a lots of complaining. So there’s that little story.

Sounds like an easy mistake to make not checking a single box. When listing such a large number of animals, I can see this easily happening. I understand that would be disappointing to the buyers as well but hopefully it’s been resolved by now.

Such an easy mistake!!! Innocent! We make mistakes too as I rely on employees to post ads and in many cases they are not exactly experts on the subject! Mistakes can happen even when no intent was meant.

If I saw a picture of a reptile for sale and there was more than one listed…I would automatically assume they wouldn’t all look the same so would accept it as it is or contact the buyer and ask further questions if a specific coloring/feature was important to me.

As a fellow insect feeder seller, Darien is the dubia goat. morphmarket needed changes, and one of the only places ot find exotics and pets on the internet because most social media doesnt allow animal sales. Individually going through issues and accounts alone will take forever and cause lots of problems.

I'd like to see a certification bonus on accounts of breeders/sellers that follow disease spread reduction practices. I think that could do a lot for improving image and help people who care about that kind of thing actually find breeders who really do fully understand how to mitigate risk. It would require regular testing and a training course, but I think it would revolutionise the hobby.

As far as large snakes go I think breeders should communicate with buyers, ask a lot of questions, find out if they are ready for a large snake. As for age limits, Brian B got his first Burm before age 18 I believe. So not everyone is the same

The Slither ban has been a long time coming, that being said if it wasn't for people that have worked there speaking out and drawing attention it would be business as usual for Samson Pruitt today and all the same people that had done business with him for years would still be doing so. Things Have been said in the past, pictures shared and it was blown off as social media drama. People that have spoken out against him have been publicly humiliated and threatened with legal action so nothing effectively happens until the entire reptile community decides to take it seriously, which it's finally done. I published a 2 hour conversation with the former manager there that explains exactly first-hand what took place and how feverishly some people worked in order to care for those animals, and when those people left, Cass and Samson's lazy asses left the animals to rot. Kagen and I are planning a livestream soon so if anyone wants answers to anything, that will be the time to get em.

Like I said in my video about it if Samson would have gotten his ego in check and kept good people around to care for those animals many of them wouldn't be dead today. I enjoyed your video and wish it got more exposure, it’s really important people understand nuance exists, even in situations such as the horrors that happened in that facility. A lot of small business owners are so busy micromanaging their employees can’t do their jobs but in the case of Slither those employees had so much emotional investment and seems they worked so hard to improve the lives of those animals. It falls single-handedly on the continued hoarding. No one can possibly keep up with that without the financial resources and labor of good employees.

** Bob Clark Ban part for clarity! Bob was never told he was banned, his Acct was down then back up and Bob was told it was a “glitch”. He was then sent an email from the previous owner John L saying several things but stating bob was engaging in a “smear campaign” which Bob strongly denies. I asked if Bob was “banned” as it was an unknown. Darrien stated he was …. For whatever the “reason” he was then he was unbanned. This part of things is not my business and I have no interest in the details. Bob C is not banned on Morph Market and I apologize that many things were cut out to keep the interview short as it was nearly 3 hours originally. This whole video was very informative and helpful! Feeling much better about Darien now that I’ve heard his side. Also as someone who has been to nerds facility and seen how their animals are kept, saying they’re the same as slither is insane. Everything was very clean and well kept and not even remotely comparable. Even if someone didn’t see the animal neglect pics from the slither files, the brief videos of slithers facility shown at the beginning of this video are already very bad, all of the cages look filthy in a way that doesn’t happen over night. I know I said not to make a video on Sampson, but as I’ve done more research my opinion has changed so I’m glad you addressed it in this video even if it’s not a whole exposé. 💚💚💚

A former employee alleges that NERD does/did a lot of the same things as Slither (freezing reptiles alive, neglect, overcrouding, nasty conditions) and Petco/PetSmart (painfully killing rodents by swinging them into a table by their tails) He said the facility constantly smelled like death and that the rodent room should be a crime. Whether most of this has a shred of truth, who knows. It was on some forum. Evidence is scarce. I can only definitively agree that there has been overcrouding and substandard conditions (even disregarding racks, which is another thing; we now know that animals in rack systems experience atrophied brain and muscle by direct cause of rack systems, not to mention rack systems usually don’t supply UVB, for which we also have recent studies proving that supplementing cholecalciferol - D3 - alone is much worse than including UVB, *plus* we also know that reptiles need UVA)

The trouble is everybody gets into the hobby and then picks their guy. Whether that guy is good or bad they will just parrot the information they are told and refuse to accept anything else. There's a debate for everyone I guess, breeders have more hands on experience with species than anyone else. But then their practices may not be the best for animal welfare because it's a business after all, so there's a valid argument for everyone but people just fully back "their guy" 100% regardless of any other evidence.

I don’t currently breed reptiles. In the passed I have owned several snakes. The last couple of years I have watched several breeders/handlers of non-venomous and venomous snakes. I have also been looking at MorphMarket. I’m a supporter of USARK. Not just because of reptiles. But they find bills/laws about common pets as well. Big shout out to USARK. As in any animal world there are problem breeders. Mares bred just to throw away their foals for medicines or for potential race foals that have lost their mothers. Puppy mills and back yard breeders of dogs. I’m sure there are more examples if I dig deep enough I could find. We as good husbandry people need to educate common(no or little experience) people before they buy their pets. Kevin “NERDS” is an example of a company doing great socializing of reptiles. I’m saying this because I have watched you on KZbin. But more importantly I have seen other reptile people say this.

If Slither Inc. gets to the point where they can't keep going, they can contact the breeders who can afford to absorb their collection, sell out, and go do something else for a living. Nobody needs to sell reptiles and if they can't do it responsibly, there are plenty of McJobs out there. Hell, there's a worker shortage right now. They have all kinds of options. Meanwhile, NERD and others can go ahead and give those animals the care they need.

I think the only thing that I question with MM is when an animal’s price is posted and it is sold. Does it actually sell at that price? If you post a BP for $500-$1000 and sell it for $100 does that price get shown on the sold page? Or is it just showing whatever price you put initially? I worry about price manipulation of your animals this way by acting like you sold the animals at a higher price. If so, How can you prevent that or what is being done to have transparency on animal values as they are sold?

From how I understand MM was before, I was quite happy to hear it had been purchased. :) I like what I hear so far. :) On the Samson Pruitt issue, some recent information by a couple other former employees came out. Many animal control complaints had been made to Animal control. There have also been many visits by animal control to his facility. Sadly animal control is not equipped or knowledgeable enough about exotics to know what is normal and what is horrible and Samson had used that to his advantage and managed to convince them that the snakes like being kept in those conditions and they were perfectly healthy and fine. These workers stayed as long as they did because they wanted to help the animals as much as they could, but Samson kept bringing in more animals than they could possibly care for and didn't help at all. And Cass was in charge of the babies and show animals, which were in the worst shape of all the animals. Samson also forced most of them to sign an NDA and had most of them too scared to say anything publicly about it. I'm glad he's been banned from MM, most expos (hopefully eventually all expos), and hopefully no one will buy another animal from him. The animals being in his care is a death sentence alone. I doubt many will be able to be saved if anyone can get animal control to snap out of his hypnosis so to speak and realize that these conditions are horrendous.

Darien sounds like a very good steward for MorphMarket as well as the reptile industry/hobby in general. He is right that the hobby must regulate itself better or expect more government regulation as a consequence. I totally agree with him about the number of people who are capable of taking care of exotic pets like 20-ft reticulated pythons and anacondas. This is why animals like Burmese pythons end up in the Everglades. Younger hobbyists in particular need to be aware of the huge problem of wildlife trafficking for exotic pets and the risk it poses to wild populations of rare reptile species and "localities" or subspecies. One example is blue tree monitors, which are highly endangered in the wild and the biggest threat is collection for the pet trade. The demand for these animals is driven by social media - yet in reptile hobbyist videos I rarely see anyone discuss where the animals come from, whether they are threatened by habitat destruction or collection for the pet trade, etc. The hobby MUST transition to near 100% captive bred animals if some of these species are to survive in the wild with human exploitation at such high pressures.

I think that choosing to ban abusers and neglectors is important. Regulation within the community will help uplift the view of reptiles and keepers. I don't think it is the communities responsibility to save Samson's snakes. Whenever his sales go down from being banned on so many platforms, he need to let go of his ego and sell his collection at wholesale or below to keepers who have the resources for these snakes. It is on him to get those snakes into good hands, or for him to accept help in finding them new places. It is all up to him sacrificing his ego. If people continue to pay him for his reptiles, more animals will come in to his facility and never out. He has to hit a hard reality. Sadly those snakes may be lost, but we can't afford to let him endanger even more. It is like this whenever byb for dogs lose business. They have to lower their prices or surrender to rescues and LEAVE the business.

It will blow over in time once people get used to Darien and how he runs things. Overall i see this as an incredibly novel and positive thing! How many other communities do you know out there that self police the bad actors without prejudice or favoritism? Hell, how many communities out there self police at all? I love being a part of this community for that reason; amongst others. We collectively care about these animals so much, we are willing to go under fire to ensure their welfare no matter who is responsible, even if that's one of our own. That's beautiful, and i expect to see us continuing down that path in a fair and respectful manner until we are all able and empowered to hold ourselves and others accountable to proper husbandry and ethics standards. In light of all the serious and tragic events of Brian Barczyk, the bans in florida, and the HTM, it would be wonderful to one day see us have the capacity and organization provide relief resources for those amongst us who's animals and lives have been gravely impacted by bans and crisis. Like a snakey underground railroad and foster homes. ♥️ the usark auction dedicated to Brian is a great example of how we are already doing something similar, and was very emotionally moving to witness.

Thank you for getting the video done. There is so much baloney in our community that gets blown out of proportion. With that said, I think Darien should realize he is running a business. Trolling customers is not the best way to introduce yourself as the new owner of MM. Self admittedly, he doesn’t always come across the best. And believe me I get this because I can be the same at times. My advice is then don’t say anything. Contact a big UTuber in the community and answer the issues like you have done here . I bought my leopard gecko “ bugz” from bhb reptiles brian barcysk. My gecko was 18 months old when I bought him almost 3 years ago and he was shipped to me from Michigan to Arkansas and arrived within 24 hours very healthy and happy. My leopard gecko has never been sick and is a great little guy. When he arrived the paperwork had all his information on it , his morph information and his hatch date. I will always recommend bhb reptiles
