I still go back to my PS3 and play this sometimes. I remember this came out like a few months after MK9. It was cool at the time to have this collection. I hope one day WB/Netherrealm get their act together and release this on current gen consoles. WB is stupid to think that they won’t make money off of this. So many people would buy it.

@@dennfoo I don’t expect it to sell like a modern day triple A title but it could do some good for them to release this especially now with the mostly lukewarm reception of MK1 2023. They were hoping MK1 was their bread and butter but it’s not doing as well for them as they probably hoped. We need an MK arcade collection for modern consoles. There are definitely people that are under 30 that buy this even if it isn’t as many people who are 30+ like me.

Yes! I bought 2 copies of the MK 9 Tournament Edition so I could get one of those sticks for both PS3 and 360 and they are fantastic. I think I prefer Suzo/Happ over Sanwa.

Back in 1999, my father bought me a super nes with Donkey Kong country, Super Mario world, Yoshis Island, MK 2, Mk3 Ultimate with 2 controllers for 15$ at a lawn sale. Can't find them deals any where any more on any console or older game really. I loved using lui kang in mk3, Forward, forward, down, down, low kick.. up close to a finished state enemy.. If you know you know. I was like holy shit, what did I just do. Luckily in the package deal there was a mk3 book that had everything you need to know about mk3, from all the on screen button presses to fatalities ect. And a deeper back story behind the game.

I remember when this collection came out it had all kinds of sound effect glitches. I never kept updated on whether they fixed those issues or not, but this was a nice kollection.

The opening track got modified on purpose, because of copyright reasons. It sounds like it's glitching, but it's supposed to be like that. But I never noticed any other sound/music issues. Looks like it's just in early versions and they fixed it.

Gutted, because I had this for the XBox One, but then they discontinued it and I lost it when I upgraded to Series X. I’m 43 years old, I remember when I was in school all of us kids at the time was talking about mortal kombat, kids today have no idea how huge these games were when they came out, specially MK2 . I have played and currently own lots of versions of this games. Like you Darryl Tsung06 these are my favorite versions of Mortal Kombat 1-3 with UMK3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. The most disappointing version of Mortal Kombat is the Sega Saturn version of Mortal Kombat 2, how the Fuck that wasn’t arcade perfect is just mind boggling,followed by the Sega Genesis version of Mortal Kombat 2, on that version I blame developer Probe for being lazy especially for not putting the sound effects . This was the version of classic MK I played when I first got into the series. I had it for PS3. Umk3 was definitely the best game of the three in terms of it being ported over perfectly imo. I still remember hosting an MK2 tournament with my mates who are MK noobs using this collection years ago.

A great collection. I have it on my PS3, it was the first game I bought for the system, three klassik MK arcade games for 10€ is a very good deal. A little bummer is the opening track, they made it shorter and modified it, most likely because of copyright reasons.

@@greensun1334 It wasn’t due to copyright reasons though. It was because of Unreal Engine. This was originally going to be a HD remake of the 3 games. They started work on it then for whatever reason scrapped it and decided to port the original 3 games instead with Unreal engine which caused the music to bug out. They just couldn’t be bothered fixing it…

I have it on PC through steam, but you can’t buy it anymore or play online as far as I know. You have to do a funky workaround to get it to work, but I have been having fun getting my ass kicked by the computer in MK2 😂

Looks like It's still on the PSN store in the UK but not the US. On the xbox360 store only the demo version comes up in search but if you click to see all content from the demo you can still get to the buy screen

The original arcade ran in 254x400p. They had to reduce the framerate to 53hz to get the extra lines without upgrading the cab to an EGA monitor. It just doesn't look or play right on the PS2 or PS3 etc. The ps2 one runs in 480i which makes baby Jesus cry. The later ones run too fast and look wrong with horrible upscaling. The only good way to play it at home (without buying the PCB) is groovymame on 15khz CRT monitor or a crt TV that you are prepared to adjust the screen size in the service menu (254p will overshoot the screen if you don't). These old sprite based games are not like modern 3d ones. You can not change the res or refresh rate without changing the speed and feel of the game. That is extra important in one on one fighters.

It's better to purchase this sooner rather than later if it is still available because they have already begun removing other games from the Xbox digital store already. I was looking to get that remixed version of Frogger but it's no longer available. I thought there would be more time before they close the digital store on 360 but I guess that's already starting now. So definitely pick this game up now before you regret missing it. :(

(Arcade) Mortal Kombat II really has been peak 2D Mortal Kombat. I mean MK3, UMK3 and MK Trilogy are great and everything, but they had been really lazy with a lot of fatalities: Multiple skulls and legs and that stuff. MK II brought so much new to the table and from graphics, to sound, to gameplay has been executed so well.

PS3 and Xbox 360 owners are lucky that the Mortal Arcade Kollection is still playable on those consoles. PC owners like myself are not so lucky because the PC version of MK Arcade Kollection could only be played through the god awful "Windows Live" which has now shut down it servers and ceased to exist. Since Windows Live shut down its servers MK Arcade Kollection and all other games associated with Windows Live are unplayable on PC - those games are now dead and gone on PC, a great shame for all those who spent their hard earned cash buying those games and have now lost them.

I am presently playing it on steam via a code from GameStop, there's a couple of workarounds to get it going. I am using a gfwl bypass, it kills the online, but that's not a concern for me. There's another workaround that's a bit more trouble, but it supposedly fixes the online.

I have this on PS3, its servers are still up, but good luck finding a match because nobody is playing this. It was crazy to think that with a game this popular on a planet with almost 8 billion people I was the only person online trying to play this.. well actually funny enough the next day some random dude messaged me on psn asking me if I could help him get a trophy on this. I think the PS3 controller has a bit more latency than the other controllers, playing it on ps3 seemed a bit off.

Not in the manner you are speaking. There was a physical edition of this that came out, but it was a fight stick that costed $150. This fight stick was released a few months after MK9’s special edition fight stick. The fight stick had decals from the classic MK games on it and it included MK Arcade Kollection with it as a download code (I believe Xbox 360 only as that was the only version I has ever seen when I bought it on release).

It’s still online on PS3 but I found the only way you’ll ever get a match is by arranging a time to play someone specifically and then meeting up and playing. Otherwise you’ll never find anyone on.

Have you ever messed with the custom picture settings on your TV? It won't make it as good as a Crt, but it will make your colors and contrast better. I wish the A1U versions looked this good lol. I can't believe you use run on the left side lol.

And Finish moves,to force to kill a opponent,German law goes crazy. They forbid mk Games. Many Games goes censorship at the 80/90/00.🤷🏻‍♂️

This was fine for when it came out, but the hardcore players knew better. MK1 for instance did not run at 60FPS in the arcade, so there are some timing differences. Additionally, only lag was a major issue, and for years there was no disconnect penalty. At one point I held the #16 rank in Xbox live for MK1. The game was riddled with people with smurf accounts to falsely rank up wins. It's a good option for those consoles, but the best way to play online is through Fightcade.

The fact that nearly every midway game through the 90s ran at about 53fps made it difficult to even find consumer CRTs to test the arcade boards on... Not a single Sony screen released in North America stands a chance! Check my profile if you want to see what a rev4 mk looks like on a Sony lol

To bad the xbox 360 store shut down. I'm currently trying to emulate the Xbox 360 to play umk3 Midway version on my xbox 360. I have the demo. But that's it. I can't purchase the full version now. I have this arcade version. The midway umk3 demo for Xbox 360 i have is insanely good.

Likely because it’s a dead console and Sony isn’t going to put much effort in updating its firmware to keep people from hacking it and preventing people from pirating the game out
