If you think of Lucian as a moral coward his actions start to make sense. He couldn't bring himself to take responsibility for killing a child who had performed no ill action, despite the fact it has been cursed to be pivotal in the war between gods. So what does he do? Make it so the child either submits to his own authority or has to rebel. Thus giving excuse to kill the child. This seems to be Lucian's MO. Set things up so he has to pick up the pieces. Always giving himself an excuse why he must take the terrible actions he does to maintain power. At no point does he sacrifice anything. It is always others who sacrifice. Whether they want to or not. So I totally understand why Damian has a hate boner for his adoptive dad. Although obviously can't have Damian win for obvious reasons.

It seems like Chaos doesn’t really go after 7 lords specifically. He seems to be rather intertwined with Void. As in, instead of undoing the creation done by 7 lords, he seems to be after the creation in a more general sense, as in Ouroboros/Astarte’s (and whoever is responsible for the eternals and stuff) world creation. But I wonder, at what point the nothingness came to be perceived evil in Divinity universe? Does Void “want” Source to be evenly distributed/not concentrated behind the veil?
@MortismalGaming4 жыл бұрын
Yeah Chaos just seems to want all the power he can get by taking everything over, what the void wants is harder to figure out. The eternals that were cast out made a deal with a void to become voidwoken, and the eternals just want Rivellon back. So it's hard to say what the actual goal for the void is, because D:OS seems to imply it's the literal end the world, but the God King hardly wants that, and he seems to be the voids main servant.

@@MortismalGaming How did the Chaos Lord create demons? When the Malady asks to demonstrate abilities, you can give her a blessing and she will say that it hurts. Also, when you kill demons in the game, they usually creates cursed blood surface and they often use abilities that are used by the servants of the God King (like the Void teleport), and Adramahlihk uses a cursed fireball and a epiemic of fire (and this creates a cursed surface of fire). But at the same time they are hungry for the Source, when the demon appears from the Tyrant's Helmet, he says that he is very hungry and wants to take my Source. So how did he create them? With the help of the Source, how did the other 6 gods create their races? Or with the Void? Or maybe both of these forces? Also, when that demon is freed from the helmet, he says that he hoped he was summoned by the God King, so it seems that the demons can also become the servants of the God King.

@@warhammer40k57 Larian is vague about it, but it's mentioned that Chaos somehow corrupted the source power he got from the veil with the other gods, and made demons with it. I would assume that's why he wants more source from everywhere as he doesn't have the luxury of the recycled source through his race of demons. Though yes Demons seem to have agency just like other races and can make agreements and pacts with people and beings just like anyone else.
@warhammer40k574 жыл бұрын
@@MortismalGaming Where is it mentioned? The old games didn't seem to say that the Seven created races from the power of the veil, and in Dos2 the Lord of Chaos is practically not mentioned.
@MortismalGaming4 жыл бұрын
@@warhammer40k57 a mix of the first couple divinity games, divine divinity, and beyond divinity primarily. The Original Sin series doesn't pay much attention to any of the chaos storyline, even the Black Ring is answering to the God King in Damian's absence.

Not sure if you check these still but one question, I've always had from a lore standpoint is that Werewolf nightmare creature in in Driftwood. I remember it was near the edge of the map. It was able to talk, and you find it asking for help from a god or something. While fighting it, it spawns wolves that CONSTANTLY buff it... I remember getting basically 1 shotted by it. But I was wonder if that creature ever showed up before or if it was in the vein of a mini random encounter. Not much random that it's in a static spot but random as in "Hey, this exists. Just so you know" So I was wondering if there's any lore to it or if I've been missing a quest for it all this time

All the powerfull characters in divinity are bad people. Lucian, well, you already made a video of his wrong doings. God king for obvious reasons. And, the 7 gods banished an entire race (the eternals) to a realm that turned them into void creature just so no one could gain more power than them. Every "good" character has committed atrocities.
