What a nice low rust truck. Truly amazing how some don't hardly rust at all. The reason your clutch pedal wanted to stick to the floor is there might be a clutch assist spring under the dash. It connects to the upper part of your clutch pedal arm and is angled in such a manner that it creates kind of a detent action. As you push down the clutch pedal, the spring will stretch a little but when the pedal reaches about half way down, the spring starts to contract again and pulls the pedal to the floor. When there's resistance against a working pressure plate, it helps assist in disengaging the clutch. If there's no resistance from a pressure plate, the pedal drops to the floor and stays. My old 1972 F250 has one and that spring is pretty hefty. What's really fun is mine has plastic bushings the spring hooks ride on to keep from wearing on the metal where they hook. I needed to replace those bushings. It wasn't hard popping the spring off but boy was it fun trying to stretch it out to get it back in place...

From semi's to pick ups. You made installing that shifter clamp look easy. I can recall fighting many of those. They almost go then slip off. Here we call Crescent wrenches Mexican speeder wrenches. One for Puddin is an Oklahoma socket set. Square bodies are hot here on the west coast. I have offers to buy my 86 C30 crew cab dually all the time. I bought it new. I just watched Alex of LegitStreetCars redo/detail his Model S Tesla. Appearance was a BIG FACTOR in it! That's not me or you. If you gave me a Tesla, I'd run it, but I wouldn't buy one yet. Something inbetween the "detailed car" and what you leave unfixed on your cars suits me. I will say this though, the man has Taste! His black chrome wheels are wonderful. I share his liking for blue and his carbon fiber wrap of the chrome was spot on too! One thing to note was the practicality of the wraps he used. They self heal from scratches with heat, which could just be a day out in the warm sun. That's protection from most envious keyers! I just wish Tesla would abandon the "a grille goes here" look on the front of their cars. Make an entirely rounded front end with the 2.5 mph bumper behind a soft curved skin, similar to 4th Gen Firebirds.

A very comprehensive review of 80s square body trucks, where from and what to look for in a "dry" example; why to keep and look for spares like seats, mirrors, and running light parts; how to sort out a failing clutch, what to address when replacing one from axle to axle. That would be such a cool truck to own, having been through your shop and used to both teach so many viewers but also inspire so many more. Diff fluids, venting and failed pinion seal; replacing a U-joint; gear spacing with the 465; goose neck towing, and refurbishing the tailgate and left rear corner/lights - the list goes on and on. Got to tell you that back in school, the 80's. We had a Chevy Scottsdale for our building trades class. 4 wheel drive, had a nice stock lift to her. Miss the Ole girl. One of my favorite Chevy trucks was the Scottsdale editions. Love the channel and content. I'm from Vermont. God bless you and Duff.

My brother passed away a couple weeks ago and he left me his square body. He had so many plans for the truck. He built it from the ground up. I'm so excited to be able to finish his truck the way he wanted. This was a great video and educated me on this truck. The truck needs a little tlc. I wish I had knowledge you and my brother had on working on these trucks. He always wanted to do a Cummins engine swap but unfortunately I am not educated enough to do something like that. But maybe I'll give it a shot for my brother if I can find a Cummins. If not I think the 350 will do just fine for now lol

Fine old truck! Looking at the background makes me miss driving around through the cornfields in Ohio and Michigan with my coonhound..a man can get a lot of thinking done that way.

Keep this trick I devised years ago for the future when you do carbutator work.. Try this... Heat the plastic tube from the carb cleaner spray with a lighter (about 1/4-1/2 inch from the end. Then pull on each end of the tube to stretch it. This makes the outer/inner tube diameter smaller and more of a pin point. When the melted plastic solidifies, use small wire clippers or nail clippers to snip the tube at the smallest diameter that still provides flow when spraying. The cleaner comes out like a pin point pressure washer and the shrunken plastic tube end fits inside whatever port your spaying thru. You can also do the same to create 90 degree angles in the plastic tube to spray sideways inside long venturi tubes. I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations. Hope this makes sense. BTW.... Great videos.

You REALLY, REALLY, REALLY NEED A 2 POST LIFT in your shop. luckily your still young and you can still work off the floor. The time will come before you know it the ground gets really far away. The lift would add many years on your life!! I paid $1,500 for my 10,000 lb lift new and i LOVE it!!!! believe me you can afford that to save your back!! Keep the video's coming, i love to listen while i'm hard at work in my own shop. My love is to save the old classic Mercedes Benz, 1970's-mid 1990s.

Excellent video Mortske Repair :) also that truck for K20 light duty 3/4 be have 9.50/ 16.5 LT or 8.75/16.5 LT Load Range D and may hard find also get 225/75/16 load range D or 235 or 245 or 265 in 16 sizes in Load Range B to F also have 388 or 411 rear end gears and fuel be 8 local and 15 on highway drives ! Also get 8 bolt on 16 rims and 8,000 pound truck 6 leaf springs but 25 and all 1 tons 30 or 35 are 11.000 pounds ones with 8 to 10 leafs springs! Those 350 V8 be 2 or 4 bolts mains and 280 to 320 hp with 350 torque! In 4 barrel carb most are but some people got in 2 barrel carb but rare! Those truck had Turbo 400 3 speed Automatic, 700SR 4speed Overdrive Automatic transmission to Manual 3 speed in Coulmn Shifter and but floor shifter are Manual Creeper 4speed Overdrive and Manual Power Shifter 5 speed ! 208 transfer case for 4×4 ! Also those trucks had sticker T for Am/Fm radio antenna on front windshield and some people got steal whip on in left or right fender too option back then any 4 radio decks and West Coast mirrors too! Options back window 2 types also 2 fuel tanks in 35 to 65 gallons ! One fun part was that 3 gauges types for Volts , Oil , Temperature, Brake for Emergency Brake pedal optional have or not also main 3 get red lights or Needle types in Canada but in oil pressure gauge was KPA mathematics for USA only and Canada were P.S.I. I heard because Perrie Trudeau change mathematics in 1979 to 1984 but lots people got both ways when ordering from dealers! Option for last 2 could get was MPH also miles reading for USA truck or Canada in KM/H also KMs reading, fuel gauge for USA or Canada want plus Red brake light on bottom or far left side in small circle to buy choice and bottom could had Yellow Organe Electric Choke Light if carb had one one if menchanial did show up when did cold or hot start! But if Desiel motor 350 V8 have Glow Plug light tell warm up up for for 10 minutes! But if had Red Seat Belts on Bottom left till buckle up buzz sounds shut off Brake on Right side some models had or had choke or Desiel glow plug ! So many options those trucks had was unbelievable and till saw it! Like basic needle gauges and that all!

My dad had a 1980 chevy Scottsdale shortbed 4x4 with the square headlights, he was told it had the Silverado exterior trim, except it didn't have the aluminum tailgate panel. Everything else looked exactly like Silverado square headlight. One of my favorite trucks he had, 2 tone brown and tan, 305 granny low 4 speed
