Seems nobody know about taking the bolt out that’s on the backside of the fuel pump pad on the block that seems to have no reason being there ( it’s a short bolt ) and thread in a fuel pump bolt that’s longer to hold the rod up. GM cast that provision in the block for that purpose.

I too like the truck for a go to work driver. The video was informative and shows how to rationalize a purchase of a less then perfect used vehicle. However as much as we enjoy your mechanical prowess and sense of humor, you must know Old Duff Dog is a true star. He just brings a smile to your face every time you reach for vehicle door handle. Not without me!!! One day he is fluffy and pretty, the next scene he has black mud on all fours and leaps into the truck, then he is happy to there he can not stop licking your face. His stubby tail going 100 miles an hour. All we know is what you show us. But it sure seems like you two are joined at the hip by Car Guy Gene. We had a couple of these trucks on the district I worked on with the Forest Service in Camp Crook SD. I worked there from 1987-88. One was an 84 with the 250 inline and 4 speed manual, and the other was an 87 with the throttle body 4.3 and 4 speed manual. My crew got the 87 so we had a/c in ours. It was basically this same truck just in a calf scour green color. It also had the idiot lights instead of actual gauges. It wasn't a bad pickup, it had fairly decent power and the manual had granny low so it did pull itself around the hills fairly good being it was only 2 wheel drive. On the highway, it did manage to maintain highway speeds as well, and I believe it even had cruise so it was fairly well equipped for a government truck. I wouldn't mind finding one for myself to drive, though I'd opt for the long box over the short box, but that's just me. A guy can haul more in a long box. The alternator should run around 14.2 to 14.8 volts, so it's right where it should be.

My first truck was a 1986 custom deluxe with the 4.3, factory 4 barrel, and factory headers. This brought back some memories

Won a few bets with some boys at the bars on if I had an 86 with a factory 4.3 vortec. Popped open the glove box and won a few bucks

Man I watch alllll your videos, and I’m a HUGE supporter of the channel. But I have the “cheapest” square body for you. I’ll take 100$ for it, it’s a 4x4 swb 78 Scottsdale, original motor in it. I also have a 77 1/2 Camaro I’d let go cheap if your ever in my area!

@@MortskeRepair man that’s so awesome you took time to respond to me! Literally made my day!!!! I’m in central Arkansas, I have quite a few vehicles. I’m 18 years old with 2 sweet baby girls and we all watch your videos as soon as they are posted! Would LOVE you to come look at my stuff sometime and take some home with you! I’m always coming up with new projects every week. I’ve owned close to 75 cars since I was 5 and got my first one, I absolutely LOVE anything with an engine

That's cool truck, I have a 75 c10 but mine is 350 4 speed love it wish I had a turbo 400 or 350. I would definitely keep it and the vortec.

Love the squares, i have a 86 lowered like yours, completely gutted engine compartment just a 350 sitting in there will all edlebrock stuff and headers. Electric fans new radiator and vintage air A/C system. I have a electric fuel pump supplying the carb and here in Arizona starts up and runs great in the desert and since is a Arizona truck no rust! Geared well with the 700r4 runs about 2k at 65mph not to shabby still needs some things like new steering column and some minor stuff. By the way yours's rolled blue smoke at startup at 206 time

Loved the video on Casper. I had one with a straight 6 in it. Best truck ever. Easy to work on and fit the bill as a truck.

You are so lucky to have one of them Steel Case Office Chairs! Real Heavy Duty made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I put a roof on one of their buildings when I was in construction. It's too bad they took a big dive in 2008. And after 2020 and Covid, they were just getting back in the flow and another dive. Them early chairs and desks will last you a life time if you don't abuse them too bad. Wish I had one. My younger years I never cared for much of anything Green because everything was Green. In my older years, I would take a green desk and chair! Green handled knives and tools are not that common, which is why I collect them now. But Metallic Red is my favorite Truck Color!

Cats like radiator coolant. My mother had a cat that died from drinking it. None of her dogs ever drank it. Your troubleshooting skills are great for me since mine are not so great. Thanks.
