How formal do you have to dress for your job? And would you say your current dress code is more or less relaxed than places you have worked previously? Thanks, Ceri x

You mentioned there being a difference between the number of hours an accountant has to work in public accounting versus private. I'm wondering if that varies or if perhaps there are some types of jobs in public accounting where the hours are more normal, lol.
@SaraMarie6 жыл бұрын
It definitely could depend on the company for both private and public. It could also depend on your position or your company culture. I try to stress in most of my videos that what I talk about is my personal experience and may differ for others! Hope that helps 😊

you're so helpful! i'm currently a college sophomore and i was wondering if it would be difficult for me to get internships with no experience other than A's and B's in accounting classes also, can you give advice on how to get experience when any opportunity for experience already requires experience 😥 thank you!

Hi, Sara! I'm a veteran and a mom of 2 young kids. I'm looking to get my bachelor's in Accounting and, while I'll eventually be able to go to school on-campus (starting next year when my youngest starts pre-K), I want to get started via an online program. Why is it so difficult to find an Accounting degree program? For the most part, I see B.B.A. in Accounting programs. Like you, I am interested only in a Bachelor's in Accounting and eventually getting my MBA. If you could do it over again, would you get your degree in ONLY Accounting or would you consider going the B.B.A. route?

Hi Sara, your videos are very interesting. I am a senior currently earning my bachelor's degree. I'm thinking about switching from being a math major to an accounting major. I'm wondering about how technology could affect the accounting industry in the next 5 years or for that matter how it's affected the industry in the last 5 years. For example, a job where someone sits down and enters debits and credits, I've heard that has been taken over by computers and that not as many accountants are doing that type of thing. I see in your videos though where you do talk about doing journal entries and that sort of thing. Anyway, would love some feedback on that and if that type of work is indeed going away, what type of accounting work is taking it's place. Thanks for reading.
@stefaniegann31986 жыл бұрын
I do hope actually that it's not going away because that is the type of thing that I would be interested in doing.

I actually get this question a bit. I do some journal entries but honestly it’s very minimal. Instead, I enter things into my system and the system creates and posts the journal entries. The type of work that I personally do, would be extremely hard for a computer to duplicate. I’m constantly creating unquiet reports for each customer and changing it depending on their preferences. It’s a lot of manual work sometimes and each customer wants something different. Again, it’s kind of hard to explain without explains but needless to say, I’m not worried. Again, that’s just my experience.

Thank you so much Sara for this reply! Very helpful and it means a lot to me. I was grateful to find your videos. I still haven't had the chance to catch up on all of them, but I plan to. :) Right now I'm in the process of talking to advisors at my school about a career path. To be honest, some advisors are good and others just fair in their advising. Just my opinion, when it comes to school advisors, you always wonder if you are getting the feedback from them that the school would like for them to give or if it's the real deal. Don't get me wrong, the first advisor I had a good experience with. She helped with my resume and she was great, but some of the others not as much. This is why I'm trying to reach out for information from more than just people at the school.

Hi!! I got a q Do u think giving up on internships is worth for double major in accounting and finance Im in 2nd year of uni and completing accounting course this year but then next year i could do some internships and travel overseas using credits or do the finance I assume with finance i would have more chances in promotions starting from entry level and further especially for cfo positions as i would have superior knowledge comparing to accounting mjors only Also it could give me wider opportunity when it comes to graduate job search etc But then Im really unsure if finance is worth the struggle of finding a job with no internship
@CPACareerPaths4 жыл бұрын
Great question. Double majors, especially in both finance and accounting, are smart choice. Accounting can also help you become a CFO as well when you have years of experience in audit. If I were you, I would have chosen the internship since I could have had more experience in real life. You can always study finance later if you want. Also, some companies pay your tuition fee to study for another degree after one year you work at the company. You asked this question a year ago, I’m just curious what you decided to do at the end?

@@CPACareerPaths i did both haha I invalidated 2 minor units that i have completed from management course And did 1 internship and had just enough spots for finance major
