In the grand pantomime of genetics, my veins once took center stage, blue-green and bold as brass, prompting my elder cousins to treat me as a curiosity at a carnival. I was as spindly as a beanpole, and they, in their mirth, couldn’t resist but to poke fun. Yet, as time marched on and I filled out, these once prominent symbols of my youthful vulnerability retreated like bashful hermits. Now, my cousins, those erstwhile jesters, merely sniff in disdain and vanish like magicians’ smoke. It seems my veins, and their fascination with them, have sunk beneath the surface, leaving behind nothing but a chuckle at the absurdity of it all. The above is AI rewriting my humble comment below. I think popping veins are mostly genetic. When I was a skinny little adolescent, my older cousins were freaked out by my blue-green veins. They made fun of me. It was only when I was a few years older and had put on some muscle that they stopped making fun of me. Now, they just wrinkle their nose in disgust and walk away.
