It's true! Clara was reportedly seen alone, without baby Clarita. After a thorough search of the area, we discovered that Clarita was being ‘cared for’ by Rizki, a 14-year-old male orangutan, and his friends. You can read more here > bit.ly/ClaraClarita

I just checked the link! And they did give the right link! and everything is true! Maybe you didn't read carefully or maybe you are too lazy to read all of them? It's at the last end of the article! Here i will give it to you, cwnash71 : In addition to these five orangutans, Bangamat Island also welcomed the arrival of mother-infant pair Clara and Clarita. Baby Clarita was unexpectedly born and first spotted by our team in early July 2017, on Salat Island. A few days later, Clara was reportedly seen alone, without baby Clarita. After a thorough search of the area, we discovered that Clarita was being ‘cared for’ by Rizki, a 14-year-old male orangutan, and his friends. Unfortunately Rizki didn’t want to part with Clarita and although he was extremely gentle with the newborn, he obviously was not her mother and of course he couldn’t feed her. After several attempts to rescue baby Clarita, our Technicians managed to safely retrieve her on July 18. She was suffering from a bad rash thought to be caused by rangas sap and she was also suffering from malnutrition, due to having been separated from her breastfeeding mother. Clarita was immediately taken to our clinic for intensive care. At the time, Clara seemed to be in hiding on Salat and in early August, Clara reappeared. We suspected she had been avoiding the other orangutans on the island - in particular, Rizki who had taken her daughter. We quickly took Clara to Nyaru Menteng to be reunited with Clarita. Meanwhile, baby Clarita was getting better, albeit with a rash still visible here and there. Initially, we were concerned that Clara might feel disconnected from her infant given that they had been apart for more than two weeks. However, we were very relieved to be wrong, and once baby Clarita was put in Clara’s arms by her Babysitter, the gentle mother embraced her baby tightly to her chest, as though she would never let her go. To avoid another opportunity for Rizki to take on the role of surrogate mother - or in this case, surrogate father - our team decided to move the mother-infant pair to Bangamat Island instead of Salat. To this day, Clarita continues to suckle and be doted on by loving mother Clara. The transfer of these seven brings the number of orangutans on Bangamat Island to 34 individuals. Nyaru Menteng’s team of dedicated Technicians will continue to monitor their progress on the island. We hope all seven continue to grow into fully independent orangutans, and when they graduate from this ‘university’, will be ready for life the wild. You're welcome! Don't forget to donate, they did an amazing job!

besides the pain of watching them with those rashes and scabs on the skin, the very next thing that left me wondering was: why the heck a new mother/ Orang utan being put-up in such a miserable place where she can not even stretch her arms! 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲𝓳𝓲 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/-ji although i'm from Bharat en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhārat_Gaṇarājya, i've briefly stayed in Id (nearly two decades back).. and i can only fathom a guess that if it wasn't specifically for some quarantine or segregation (rash or other suspect condition) then sadly, that is how often smaller animals (sometimes even livestock or other animals) get cramped up in many facilities. I'm not showing Id in bad light or anything, this is true even in my homeland Bharat.. and for that matter.. even in the so called 'developed' Murica.. have seen kennels and shelters and even other seemingly 'exotic' animal trading stores and facilities cage them or keep them in deplorable conditions! :-/

I agree with Clara's keeper. I sensed absolutely NO aggression or hostility in Clara as the saw her daughter. If anything, she was curious and very gentle. The way she caressed her daughter's head was almost protective....like she knew instinctively "this is MY baby". And then, when they opened the cage and returned the little one to her and she held her baby, you could CLEARLY see the mother-love shining in Clara's eyes as she held her baby. And she immediately let her baby nurse. It was like she was saying "I got this now. She's mine". I am glad mother and daughter are reunited. .

@@Gh0stPeppr I'm sure these keepers are very experienced and they know each animal's personality and behavior intimately. And I'm sure they were reading Clara as they re-introduced her to the baby to see how she was going to react.....if she would accept Clarita or if she would reject her. And Clarita is tiny. I'm sure if the carer thought there was the SLIGHTEST chance that Clara would harm or reject her precious baby, they would not have allowed her to have the baby in the cage. But if you look in Clara's eyes, you can CLEARLY see she has no such aggression toward the baby whatsoever. There was nothing but love there.

For those saying that the cage is small, let me fill you in on something. I worked with rescued big cats at a sanctuary for over 7 years (see my picture). Most cages have small areas that stick out where treats are given so the animals will enter it willingly. These small areas are used to provide veterinary care and to allow keepers to get a good close up view to monitor physical well being and to look for wounds or skin problems. Quarantine areas and sick bays are also small for the same reason, as well as keeping sick animals from over exertion. Practical exotic animal husbandry sometimes requires putting animals like strong primates or aggressive big cats in small enclosures temporarily. It's necessary and only temporary.

the savage Don’t think of it as horrible. Since you said gave birth that means it gave live birth not eggs, I’ll assume it’s a guppy or some other common species of live bearer. Livebearers have lots of babies in the first place to ensure some survive predation and they breed. In the home aquarium it’s an enclosed space so the babies don’t get to get so far or disperse. Depending on the tank size it may not be enough space for all of them full grown the mother eats the least agile ones and the babies with the best genes survive, improving the health of the species as a whole. Although the fish has has no ability to think of all this it simply happens, you must trim the hedge to keep it healthy. Contrarily cichlids are very loving parents constructing homes for their eggs and protecting them and going further to protect them and lead them to food when the hatch.

Who died and granted their Ph.D. in animal husbandry or DVM to you? We do not separate the calves from their moms on the first day after birth, they need the colostrum and if separated, have to be bottle fed. Apparrntly you do not know much about dairy farms or cows in general. You just keep adding whatever nut or soy milk you prefer to your chai tea and I will add cow milk to mine. orlybabe if this is a problem that honestly bothers you they take donations. One thing to complain another thing entirely different to do something about it. I have looked into them and they are doing the very best they can. After doing more research I am considering funding one of the Orangutans. (When I am well and able to work again) They have sanctuaries across the world.
@kubel836 жыл бұрын
orlybabe temporary cages so that they can easily monitor and treat the sick animal... Not easy to monitor or treat illnesses if the Abe climbs up in a tree to hide... If we humans get sick then we are put in a hospital bed wired up with all sorts of technology so that we can be monitored and treated... not much different for the Abe here. When baby and mother are both healthy again then they get out.🙂
@orlybabe6 жыл бұрын
Ashley Ervin Agreed, doing something about it is better than just complaining. These sanctuaries for orangutans are doing amazing work. But thinking of animals who do live in cages, in zoos - what can we do about that? I have always felt zoos should be abolished as keeping a wild animal caged for our viewing pleasure is just wrong. It’s like life imprisonment for these animals, who suffer from psychosis, suicidal behavior, illnesses and higher mortality rates in zoos. If they are under threat of extinction, put them in protected forests. If they are sick, put them in sanctuaries like this. We don’t need zoos.

This planet does not just belong to us and as amazing and beautiful that this truely was to witness, these orangutans wouldn't need human intervention if not for some humans killing these animals mothers and habitats in the first place,even though these people are doing fantastic work to try and repair the damage done,it shouldnt be happening in the first place in my opinion!
