There is a lot of hype going on regarding eggs, particularly about the cholesterol that's in the yolk. To this date there is no consistent data that shows any relationship between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol.
HERE'S WHY YOUR BODY MUST HAVE CHOLESTEROL...
Cholesterol plays a role in forming and maintaining cell membranes and structures.
Cholesterol can insert between fat molecules making up the cell, making the membrane more fluid. Cells also need cholesterol to help them adjust to changes in temperature.
Cholesterol is essential for making a number of critical hormones, including the stress hormone cortisol. Cholesterol is also used to make the sex hormones testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen.
The liver also uses cholesterol to make bile, a fluid that plays a vital role in the processing and digestion of fats.
Cholesterol is used by nerve cells for insulation.
Your body also needs cholesterol to make vitamin D.
In the presence of sunlight, cholesterol is converted into vitamin D.

Store bread frozen in the freezer (to not only increase storage life but also) lowers the glycaemic index (GI) by increasing the resistant starch of bread which I do and then very lightly thaw it out in the toaster. I buy an Ezekiel type organic sprouted grain bread. It’s called Silver Hills Bakery but there are other brands. Resistant starches are much “more healthy” for the human body to digest which “prevent” carbohydrate starches in our bodies from quickly turning into glucose and then storing it as “body fat” and “less” Fatty Liver including an anti-diabetic function in the pancreas.

I just had this conversation with a patient this week. She still thought eggs were bad because of cholesterol! 😲 Hopefully I got through to her. I told her your liver makes about 85% of your blood cholesterol. In other words, 85% of your blood cholesterol does NOT come directly from dietary cholesterol. So, if you're REALLY concerned with cholesterol, you need to ask why your liver is producing extra for you... and insulin is almost always the culprit!

An insulin spike in the pancreas is caused by carbohydrates and sugar and not by dietary cholesterol. ~~Cool refrigerate cooked rice, pasta, and potatoes for at least 12 hours overnight, reheat, then eat the next day. Store bread frozen in the freezer (to not only increase storage life but also) lowers the glycaemic index (GI) by increasing the resistant starch of bread which I do and then very lightly thaw it out in the toaster. Yes sir, yes sir & yes sir!!! Dr. Mandel, you are spot on 100% correct. I have been, with one minor and one major “hiccup”, ketovore/carnivore for over 7 months. Result: last extensive lab work was 100% normal and I’ve lost 70+ pounds. Still have a ways to go to get to my target weight, but I’m getting there. My normal breakfast is six large eggs with either bacon or self seasoned pork sausage cooked in either olive oil, bacon grease, or butter. This I only eat when I wake up hungry which is usually once or twice a week. The rest of the time, I eat one meal a day. Doc, YOU ROCK!!! Until your next video and beyond, happy trails, best wishes, take care, be safe and God bless you and your family!!! Chuck Knight from Atascocita, Texas. ✝️👨‍🌾🙏

Good job, Doc. At the end you justifiably spoke of inflammation being the problem, not cholesterol (from eggs), and that we should address inflammation! This view is more than a century old. No, I wasn't around then, but close. I just viewed a terrific KZbin video of UK Dr. John Campbell interviewing Dr David Grimes, vitamin D expert. It turns out that a substantial vitamin D target will knock down inflammation!

I counted 24 videos from Dr Mandell strictly about eggs🤔 It seems like there's online battle of the doctors on youtube about eggs. Whether they are good or bad. I've been following Dr. Mandell for years back when his channel was small enough he would reply directly to you. I think at the end of the day, you need to know your own dietary needs based on your overall health. 2 hard boiled eggs every morning with 3/4 c of cottage cheese with fresh blueberries on top. Cup of black coffee. Keeps me full until early dinner, usually salmon or chicken and a huge veggie salad. Apple slices for tv night snack. Water all day. Labs are great, close to 60 lbs lost effortlessly, skin and hair beautiful. At 61 I look back at pictures and honestly look better than I did in my 30’s. Just pay attention to how you feel, listen to Dr’s who make sense (and don’t push pharmaceuticals) and use common sense. 😊

I didn’t have eggs for more than 40 years because of Cholesterol and losing both parents very young to heart. It didn’t do a thing to help me and Genetics will win. I didn’t have any bad fats, I had almost no fats except for Avocado. I didn’t have sugar, I had only skim milk which I now know has more sugar than normal milk. My heart is in CCF, I have had my Aortic valve replaced and 2 more are leaking. I am a Diabetic. My Doctor tried me on a new medication and forgot to tell me it can cause Gall stones. Surgery is coming. No one can get my heart rate to stay up or my blood pressure. I stayed fit and healthy for all of those years for this. I ate organic steamed vegetables, fish, chicken and some beef. That didn’t stop anything happening. Now if I want eggs I eat eggs. I still don’t fry them and the only good thing I got out of all of the work I put in was to stay alive long enough for my children to have a chance at a long life. Genetics suck. Thank you.

More important is your triglycerides to HDL ratio. Take your triglyceride level and divide by your HDL level and if it is less than 1.5 you’re doing well. If over 1.5, you are insulin resistant and should drastically reduce carbs and eat more animal protein from eggs, beef and chicken but eggs and beef are better. Also, ask your Dr. for a fasting insulin test when getting your annual metabolic markers. Your insulin could be rising for as much as 20 years while keeping your blood glucose stable making your fasting glucose test useless. Your fasting insulin level can indicate insulin resistance and prediabetes much much earlier than a fasting glucose test. 🥚 More

@@anns6246 There are two pattern types of LDL: A and B. B refers to smaller and denser LDL that more easily passes from the blood into the blood vessel wall, thus causing accumulation of lipids in the blood vessel walls and eventual development of atherosclerotic plaque, reducing vessel diameter. By dividing the level of triglycerides by HDL we get a ratio that is surprisingly accurate in predicting LDL size. The lower the ratio, the better. But as the ratio climbs, greater than 2.0, the small, dense LDL type B particles are more common. A very low carb diet can quickly lower that ratio.

I guess we will have to make our own chips .. all of the 'healthy' ones I view at the stores have soybean oil, canola or other not so good oils in them.

6 months ago my lab results came bad total cholesterol 209, HDL 48, LDL 143, AIC 6. I completely changed my diet, workout everyday and so far I am lost 10 pounds (huge success because of my hypothyroidism). Last week I have my 6 months after lab results and my total cholesterol went up 218 😱, HDL 55, LDL stills the same 143, AIC 5.8. I ate 1 or 2 eggs a day boiled or in an omelette. Very frustrating to see my total cholesterol goes up instead of down, but I am glad that was able to raise my HDL to normal levels and my A1C is low as well. Tomorrow I will have my Dr follow up appointment to see how good or how bad I did

Check out some of the other videos on high cholesterol i.e. interviews with doctors. These doctor said that the high cholesterol is fine as long as your A1c is low.

@@melodyebuskin5490 Thanks for the advice. I went to my Dr appointment and she said I am doing excellent. She explained to me that my total cholesterol went up because is the sum of LDL +HDL= Total Cholesterol. Even though my LDL has no changes the HDL is high and the A1C is only .001 to become normal. She said that whatever I am doing continue to doing it because is giving positive results. Now wait till January 2025 to have my 6 months follow up again. I asked her if I am doing Good eating one egg daily And she said is perfectly fine, my Dr said there’s nothing wrong with eating eggs daily, the wrong is how you prepare them. The most healthiest way is boiled, if it is scrambled doing it with a little bit of olive oil or avocado oil.

Inflammation is the issue causing the plaquing. When the blood vessels suffer from inflammation cholesterol is laid down over them. Cholesterol is an oil. So the fluid of the blood vessels flows past with minimum resistance. Cholesterol is doing its job. The problem is inflammation. Dr. M. mentions sugars as a source of inflammation. True. Other substances cause inflammation as well. Mostly fixable by a healthy diet. But eggs are fine. So long as the liver is not diseased. I have two eggs every morning. Love 'em.

This helps to hear. I have high cholesterol. Oddly, I very rarely eat anything unhealthy. I'm actually proactive and eat oatmeal every morning as I heard it would reduce cholesterol. It didn't. Lol. I'm not vegan, but get most of my protein from fish or plant protein... Or eggs. I dont eat any red meat. My cardiologist put me on a treadmill and my stress test revealed that I'm in great shape. Doc says eggs are good for me to eat and has no reservations. Just wish I could get this number down as it still scares me.

I am aware of individuals who abstain from sweets and sugar and consume very few carbohydrates, yet they still exhibit high LDL cholesterol and an unfavorable HDL/LDL ratio. Thus, it's not solely sugar that's the culprit. Genetic predisposition may also be a significant factor, in addition to the well-known detrimental effects of sugar on the body.

Yes, I’ve also read that genetics can be a cause I.e. predisposition.
