Good Review but you forgot some key points about the Sony Smartwatch 3 Sony Smartwatch has NFC, GPS and is Wifi Enabled. Moto 360 and LG G Watch R do not have either of these features. Once android wear is updated, Sony Smartwatch will have navigation capabilities outside of being connected to a smartphone. NFC and WiFi will have many uses once enabled as well. Sony Smartwatch lets you future proof yourself at least for more than 6 months.

Pros of Sony smartwatch 3: Integrated GPS* -That allows the watch to track location on its own, without having to be connected to a phone. Able to find a location on the street to a restaurant without having to pull your phone out of your pocket WiFi & NFC* - (Android Wear does not support WiFi function currently. ) -NFC payment systems available once android is updated Transflective screen - able to see best in sunlight/outdoor, less trouble with outdoor viewing than any other watch Low power screen -low-power mode is as effective as like e-ink, fully readable in sunlight, and uses almost no energy since it uses no backlight. Very useful for watch to last longer USB charging port - convenient to charge anywhere as special dock isn't required, and since mirco usb is very common and do not need to carry the dock around if you have a portable changer Larger and sqaure screen - able to see more if notification of sms or email is long, screen won't be cut off Built in music player -able to listen to music if connected to Bluetooth headset without a need of connecting with your phone, hence able to go for outdoor jogging without having the need to bring a bulky phone Cheap - one of the cheapest smartwatch Battery life -largest battery life of 420mAh, hence able to last longer with is essential for all smartwatch as whats a smartwatch without any battery? IP68 rating -waterproof and dust resistant (compared to other IP67 rating smartwatch, it is actually not a big difference) * Sony SmartWatch 3 has a lot of untapped potential. Currently, its most exciting features are either poorly supported (GPS), or not supported at all (WiFi, NFC). If/when Google releases a new version of the OS to enable all its features, and more fitness apps get updated to take advantage of the built-in GPS, this might become the best Android Wear device money can buy. (Gathered all information from many comments, review, videos)

for me is Sony Smart Watch. battery life is very important to heavy user like me. Sony design is sporty, i prefer to choose bigger screen for smart watch also in case to read messages or short email. Sony also have a built in GPS and can do music play voice remote. i don't use heart rate thing even it would be better if available. and its cheapest among those 3
@ModestKarma10 жыл бұрын
You left out the GPS, WiFi, NFC ,and transflective screen on the Sony, while mentioning the heart rate on the other two. Also did not point out the advantage of having a USB charging port. These are significant omissions.

I'll explain from my perspective for those still on the fence. *Don't want to read everything below? Here is a shorter summary:* *All in all the Moto 360 seems to be for those more active due to the heart monitor or concerned about cosmetic appeal,* *the SW3 is more for tech use due to longer life/processor speed/standalone features/NFIC & wifi, and the LG G seems to* *be a somewhat nice combination of both sharing heart monitor feature, looks, and longer life/processor speed without the various extras.* As most seem to agree the Moto 360 is the best looking out of the options presented, along with it having the heart rate monitor this watch seems it would be for those who are more active, or want more of a customizable watch than a wrist-computer. On the other hand the SW3 is slightly faster with more battery life, WIFI/NFC options, and standalone GPS/music. For a somewhat tech person like myself I feel like the SW3 is a great choice due to more options and longer life as well as the minor speed increase. That being said even though it has no heart monitor for more active users the standalone gps is very accurate in helping those track mileage etc. Oh, don't forget another key feature universal charging. The SW3 uses the now standard micro usb port which is great imo. Of course for most the SW3's visual appearance leaves much to be desired. So from one end of the spectrum being more active/style based to less appealing cosmetically with hardware increases I see the LG G as a nice mix of the two. It has the heart monitor feature shared with the Moto 360 as well as similar visual appeal. At the same time it also has almost the same amount of battery life as the SW3 as well as the same processor speed. Beyond that, aside from price, these options really are pretty similar. Meaning around 1-1.2ghz or so on processor, 4gb of space, and 512mb of ram not to mention they run off Android Wear as some watches don't. Note: When I say 4gb of space this does not include the software for the watch. From what I see many end up with around 2gb of useable space or so. Don't forget to also check out the Galaxy Gear S being the 1st to be a completely standalone smartwatch (optional separate SIM). All in all, if you find yourself thinking "will this be worth it"? If it isn't now the newer models will definitely offer more in the next year or so, but of course this applies to a lot of things these days.

The Sony (as much as I don't like to admit it) is of benefit with a USB charge plug because you can plug it in at work to your computer and at night return it to its stand. The Moto you have to either run home and charge it before you go to dinner or buy a second charge station $$$ that is absolutely atrocious. The moto is preferable to me in most ways but that charge issue is a deal killer. Plus I don't wana take it off whilst at work anyway.
@Sm8llboy9 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I lean towards the Smartwatch 3 for exactly the reasons you stated, not to mention that it is the clear winner on battery performance which I believe is critical for to wearables. I tend to carry around a portable battery charging tube pack albeit with a short usb cable. Using the 360 eliminates that practicality, and one would be advised to buy an aftermarket magnetic dock for the G watch if they want to charge it on the go, meaning carrying around more parts. Something I have come to dislike on my Gear Neo 2.
@tuopinionno9 жыл бұрын
And he didnt mention that the Sony has GPS built in.
@ovidiulazar62268 жыл бұрын
what he forgot to mention is... Sony smartwatch 3 - has built in BT transmitter ( you can load up songs on it and stream them to bluetooth headphones - while your phone is at home) - the screen is dual - it has a low standby mode that still shows the hour and notifications even if is off - which increases the battery life (i guess the review was done with a prerelease or something... ) - the microusb port might not be cool but can be charged everywhere... PS if I turn off the gps feature, i get around 1 day extra from the Sony. Although i loved the way the LG looked from outside, the sony is way more useful daily.

Thanks for the information, helped me make my choice! I'm planning to buy a LG G Watch R after I get my paycheck, but I wanted a bit more info when comparing it to these two specific watches. Your video gave a nice and objective comparison between the three which helped me decide on sticking with my choice. Given the OLED screen, long battery life, and the professional design of the aesthetics (also that bezel on the watch looks like it may protect the screen a bit better than the other two) of the LG G Watch R, it seems like a better choice for me. I'm very grateful for the excellent job you did, please keep up the work!

Honestly, the fact that the Sony Smartwatch 3 is significantly cheaper than the other two is enough for most people, but it also has the best specs for the price and a square screen, which, while not as attractive, is better for almost everything you'll be doing on the watch (as nothing will get cut off). Sure, it doesn't have a lot of the nice, convenient features that the others do, like induction charging and a heartrate monitor, but overall it seems like the best deal.

@NickTsiotinos10 жыл бұрын
These are completely different watches with completely different functionality. If I were you - I would look very carefully at the functionality of Android Wear vs the functionality of the Tizen OS that the Gear S uses. Note also that the Gear S requires its own SIM card to take full advantage of its functionality - which means another data plan and added cost separate to your phone. The Gear S functionality is designed to be independent of the phone, whereas the Moto is complementary to the phone and is pretty useless without its phone connection.

Like your review but... A review of a watch must be made also outdoors,at home you have different light than outdoors you better try the screens in the sunlight,you will find out very soon that the screen of SW3 is the best in that condition, When I come home I usually take my watch off,so it is not important to me how the screen looks like opposite the camera. Have still the Smartwatch 2 with the same screen,and the screen is the best I ever had outdoors,wish they used same technology also in phones screens.

A couple more points I've gleaned - the Sony SW3 has a transreflective screen, which makes it much more viewable in sunlight, but also leaves a yellowish tinge on all "white" surfaces. It's also a dust and lint magnet thanks to that rubber strap. Personally, I'm still completely torn. Moto 360 looks the best but has the worst specs. LG R has great specs, but is overpriced. Sony SW3 has the best specs, but looks meh, and that yellow tinge worries me.
