I’ve seen some dumb things on KZbin over the last few years but this is by FAR one of the best bike adventures I’ve seen. Those quiet roads look great for riding on. I’m definitely going to push myself out of my comfort zone this year and go on some little tours 🙂

My record on a CL350 was 560 miles in one day. That was 1969 and I was just riding between fill-ups because I was almost completely out of money at the end of a 46 day adventure. Got home with 16 cents in my pocket and 8,500 miles of memories.

WOW!!!! My first bike was an abandoned 1972 CB350 that I dug out of a snow bank where it was laying on its side. I fixed it up and got it road worthy. I then traded it in on a 1981 Honda CM400T. Sold that and bought a 1982 750 Virago. Then sold that and didn't ride again until 2022 when I bought my Kawasaki W800 which is my current ride. Good to see those old bikes still running.

My first bike was an 81 CM400T back in 2002. It had a 2 into 1 exhaust that someone put on it. It was held together with bailing wire and a bungee cord wrapped in tinfoil. Dented tank, kickstart only Suzuki headlamp mount and a giant SYF sticker on a green spray painted tank. I rode that beast about 10,000 miles through Arizona over two years. No tags, no insurance, no MC endorsement. I just rode everywhere my 8 dollar an hour job would afford me. Now I am on a 09 Kawasaki KLR. No more long distance winter riding. My last big one was just before Covid hit and going up the mountain I watched the temp go from 28 to 9. I'm either lazy or smarter as I approached 50
@Bob-xc2usКүн бұрын
@@adampoe6139 My CM400T was a new bike when I bought it and it was a decent machine. The CB350 was a paint shaker and would shake your feet right off the pegs. My W800 is twice the machine. Cheers: BJ

Prior to the late 1970's muscle bike wars, riding a 360cc or a 400cc motorcycle long distances wasn't at all considered unusual. A bike that size was considered a good sized all-around motorcycle. So thanks for reminding everyone that bikes of this size are very very capable machines.

The one in your neighbors garage , on Craigslist or Marketplace. For an amount less than the sales tax on an Ultra Glide you can have your own adventure. Dont wake up 5 10 or 20 years down the road saying/thinking "would've, could've, should've". Craigslist is open right now!!

Wow my friend, there's lot's to comment about. First , I was scrolling & looking for something to view when I came across your video. The reason that I stopped & clicked on to this one, was because way back in 1974 I purchased this bike brand new in tangerine orange color. So you see how happy I was in going back in time, Second, this adventure proves that you have a lot of kid in you, because this type of thing is precisely the thing that a kid would do. They gave the" Golden Globe Award" to the wrong person this year; you deserved it my friend! I quote you "the only way to do it is to do it". What you just showed, is what motorcycling should be all about!! So I thank you my friend for the memories! I thought that this video was worthy of a subscription sign-up, so I did just that! My first long cross country trip (more than a weekender) was to deliver a friend's CB350 from Chicago and Champaign, IL, to Berkeley, CA, where he had just started grad school. This was June of 1975, and I was almost 22 years old. I rode US36, US40, and I-80. I stealth camped the entire trip, and my longest day was about 700 miles, from somewhere near Duchesne, UT to Donner pass. It took 6 days, including a short day in Colorado where I visited some girl, that in retrospect, was not really interested in me. Ah youth! It was a incredibly fun trip, and I'd do it again, even though I'm 71 now. I also did not ride at night there, except that 700 miler, when there was no place to stay. My luggage was of similar design. Two Boy Scout Yucca Packs slung over the seat, a plaid cotton sleeping bag on the tank, and a $7 orange tent from EJ Korvette. And a Boy Scout cook kit and a Sterno stove. I still have the Sterno Stove. Works fine with a Trangia, with only a slight mod! When you wired the tank cap, is it possible you have lost the venting and the tank isn't feeding?

An incredible amount of these CB360s seems to have appeared on the used bike market over the past couple of years. A model that I never saw in the UK back in the day, and now there are so many that owning one is a bit naff. A lightly stretched CB250 that was very easy to blow up if you went too far and too fast at the same time. The CB500 version was the bike that was a good seller here.

I had a 78 and you just couldn't beat it! The electrical system was shot and eaten by rodents, but the kick start worked! That unmistakable 360 sound makes me nostalgic. I dont envy your trip tho, i rode mine in winter and remember that VERY WELL😂😂😂

It's absolutely amazing you made it that far on that thing. It obviously has aftermarket straight through "mufflers" and it has pod filters on the carburetors. A 1974 Honda CB360 has CV carbs, and with straight through mufflers and pod filters, it would be ridiculously lean. CV carburetors are almost impossible to make work with a super lean mixture because they need intake vacuum, and you don't get much of that with pod filters. They have way too much air flow. I noticed it backfiring several times, a clear indication it is running way too lean. The engine probably overheated and possibly soft seized. My guess it now has very low compression. I am 65, and have ridden over a million miles on 40+ different motorcycles, some new, some pretty ratty. The worst thing that ever happened to me was flat tires. LOTS of flat tires. I finally gave up riding bikes with tube type tires. I once spent 4 days in a motel, a fortune on towing charges, and another fortune to a dealer to replace a rear tire and tube because of a flat tire. Had it been a tubeless tire, I could have plugged it, reinflated it, and been on my way. You are lucky to have roads where you could ride that bike at a reasonable speed and not get run over. I'm in AZ, and other than in town, where most streets are 45 mph but traffic goes 60+, all other roads are 65 mph and higher, and most traffic goes 15-20 mph over the limit. I would never be able to ride that bike here, other than a few places out in the country. Here in AZ, winter is riding season. It will be 110+ degrees during the long hot summer. You can get up at 4:00 in the morning and ride 2-3 hours before the heat becomes unbearable.

Man, nice I also live in AZ, if you can't at least maintain 65 or more stay off the HWY, or you'll get run over !

You did great! I didnt thiink it would make 100 miles. Stranded in Goss Mississippi, hadnt been through there in yeaars, it looks like they have upgraded their gas station. I grew up in Columbia 55 years ago rode many of those bikes in the courthouse. Great gutsy ride! I always enjoy your videos, never know what you will do next, but wasnt expecting this. I noticed it had a Mississippi tag so it made it home and quit.

A great effort, well done. Pity it fell a bit short, but that’s the adventure, a pity it was so cold. It could be a rotted electrical cable or dodgy connector. These old Hondas don’t want to die.

No they don’t. I will get it sorted and have other adventures on it.
@CycleGeezer-cq9lm4 күн бұрын
@@motorcyclerewind Yep! You'll figure it out. Almost sounds like you have a big vacuum leak; like carbs loosened up and causing really lean run. Most likely something minor anyway. Heckuva good effort you put in. Shame you couldn't make the last seventy miles, but at least you got to a distance that was not a great inconvenience for a family member to make a rescue. Great effort and we enjoyed the video! I had a CB360 back in the day. Really loved that thing! It was a jewel. Rode it 13 months out of the year for quite a while. Great bike. Would like to find a decent one just for ol' times sake. Probably a pipe dream. lol Retirement doesn't lend itself to buying play toys! Maybe some day after I complete some of my other projects. Chuckle! 🤭 Again; great video! Thanks for sharing with us.

We never remember the trips where everything ran flawlessly. It’s the ones where you’re miserably in pain because of the cold, the one with mechanical issues, fuel shortages etc… in part, I felt like I was watching myself in this video lol. Kudos to you, sir. I would call this a true adventure.
