These rules are not going to help the air quality in California. They can ban all the gas burning cars they want, Mexico is not going to do it and all their pollution just floats into California. I am glad I moved out of California.

@RvTalkTvАй бұрын
Yes, there will be a ban on the sale and registration of new diesel vehicles over 8,500 lbs. In this case, 'new' refers to vehicles with fewer than 7,500 miles. If a manufacturer doesn't have enough 'credits' to produce these vehicles, they won’t be allowed to sell or register them in the 6 states. If you already own a used vehicle, you should be fine, but expect potential fees in the near future. However, there are new details that could change this ban and possibly create exceptions for the manufacturers. Stay tuned for an update video coming soon! I hope this was helpful and don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already, so you don’t miss the update. Thanks for watching!

Why is anyone surprised by this? RVs in North America are so far behind stuff you find in Europe or Australia both in layout, technology, but also boondocking capability! I love car racing and burning fuel for pleasure, but for an RV - why?!? You already have 50 amp plugs everywhere (even 30 amp is ok) - why not use them? Companies like "Living Vehicle" are perfection in my book, but they are travel trailers, not Class A/C motorhomes. The new Mercedes Sprinter van has a 116 KWh battery pack which to me should be enough for a Class B. In any case, the RV industry has been dragging its feet for so long and selling absolute overpriced garbage (anything with propane) that not only will I have no pity on these (looking at you Forest River), but I'll sit back with popcorn and enjoy the fireworks. As for the range - yeah I completely agree, most EVs are built with "good enough" range, but practically speaking, anything that can drive for about 3-4 hours on one charge is perfectly fine and you don't need more, even though I'd very much like to be able to drive 6 hours straight in one go (target of 500 miles). For this range it just means a bigger capacity traction battery - I'm thinking at minimum 200 KWh. That big battery can also power your coach batteries and solar on the roof can charge the coach batteries too and send excess back to the traction batteries via the regen braking system or other ways to tap into the traction battery.

I saw no credible source for 'banning' motor homes. However the clean air act in California or whatever it is called, will limit sales of huge diesel driven motor homes. So we do need a clear report from a reliable source, not an RV site. We need clean air, we need to have RV fun too.
@RvTalkTvАй бұрын
It will ban the sale of and the ability to register a diesel motorhome that is made on a chassis by a company that doesn't produce enough EV chassis. So frightener and spartan diesel chassis (which almost every diesel motorhome is built on) doesn't have a chassis that complies with the new regulations, therefore they are now banned in those six states. Thanks for watching!

in CA over the years we've had to fire sale 20' trucks we owned because the state said they were no longer legal. Every year the noose tightens on my gas cars in higher insurance, registration, fuel prices. I wonder how long they will allow me to keep my restored 86 class c toyota due to weight.

It sounds like they are banning the sales of these vehicles. For now, you should be able to still travel to those states with these vehicles. It will just drive motorhome sales into the states that still allow sales. It will hurt businesses and consumers in these six states. In the other states, motorhome business should increase. Even crazier, CA is planning to actually ban sales all ICE vehicles, not just motorhomes.
@RvTalkTvАй бұрын
Yeah, you will be able to travel to those states, but you can’t buy one or register one in the six states. It will definitely affect sales big time! Wow that’s crazy!! Thanks for watching!

Does this only affect new RV's, 2025 and later? From what I've read so far, It seems like if you have an older gas powered Class A, 2024 or earlier, will may still be able to register it or sell it in California? Does anyone know?
@RvTalkTvАй бұрын
According to the RVIA, If the Motorhome has less than 7,500 miles on the odometer it will be considered "new" and can't be registered unless it complies with the new rules. If the RV has more than 7,500 miles it will be considered used and can be registered. I hope this answers your question! Thank you for watching and subscribe if you haven't already for an update video soon!
@jordandexter6181Ай бұрын
With this new motorhome ban it is really going to hurt the motorhome industry because a lot of these manufacturers are going to have to lose these dealers. And electric semi-trucks are just hitting the market and so it's probably going to take at least another couple years before we starting seeing any electric RV's that are over 30 feet start hitting the market. With that the prices for electric RV's are going to be so much higher. Than what diesel RV’s are.
@RvTalkTvАй бұрын
You are exactly right. I think this ban is going to affect the market, and I think it is happening way too soon. We are not prepared to get rid of diesel motorhomes, Maybe in a couple of years, but not in a few months! Thanks for watching Jordan!
