high depreciation, wear and tear + overhaul maintenance. rather get a IS300 / c200 or even take a bet on a 3 series and save the headache in the workshop.

No. Not petrols, you are thinking of the diesels.

Your car is chain driven but regular servicing is important as the 2.0l Ingenium engine has been known for early failures of timing chain guides and turbo. It is worth servicing more regularly than the recommended intervals.​@@Bader1940

So just get a timing chain replace after 120k and sleep without worries. It is just maintenance. If you can't spend 2000$ that it costs (consider this a normal wear) don't get a jag. You can probably afford a toyota instead
