Love these videos! Great Job! About the Qashqai: the new version looks so much improved! Lots of technology and beautiful materials inside. I own one for about 4 years without issue. Mine is 4WD and the traction has impressed me a couple of times where I was surrounded by mud unexpectedly (it even has a locker!).

Have a Crosstrek top of line for a year. In wet weather ,a dream. 10K, not one problem. Went from an Outback, and from two cars to one, this is perfect for two retired. From Fl. to Vermont and back, 34MPG .GREAT Channel, keep up good work ! K🚘

Thanks for another great list. I am not surprise Crosstrek toppled CX-30 mainly because of its interior space and its 2.5L engine. Its also 2 of the best subcompact SUVs that I have always recommended to friends.

I bought the 2022 Seltos EX in October 2021 (right at a year ago), I've got 5,000 miles on it and so far have been really loving it! It's really comfortable to drive, with plenty of head and leg room for this 6 foot 70 year old. It also has amazing cargo space for a small car. It's also reasonably quiet and smooth riding. MPG hovers around 30 for both in town and on the road. And even with the base engine, I get plenty of acceleration. I've had no problems or complaints with it at all.

I Verify the Crosstrek with dealer but not drive, no stock available to try…Finally I change my Qashqai SV 2018 for a Qashqai 2022. No CVT problem 2018-2022. It’s my fourth Nissan since 2011…So I’m waiting for Ariya !

Love your channel, guys! I had a ‘20 CX 30 premium for 5 months and dumped it due to its buzzy transmission, sluggish acceleration and poor gas mileage. I went full circle back to a WRX, which I love but, again the poor gas mileage and premium gas at $5.50USD. I have an order for a RAV4 Hybrid. The best overall deal for good acceleration, space, reliability, looks, and depreciation.

Had a 2018 Crosstrek with the 2.0 liter and was amazing never felt like lack of power except under unusual conditions, now I have the 2021 Crosstrek Outdoor for a year and it’s an amazing vehicle with the 2.5 liter, it’s so well balanced. Really love it it’s just very impressive vehicle for Canadian harsh roads and climate conditions. It’s a little beast in winter with snow tires.

I’d agree, yet my issue with Subaru’s is they need valve cover gaskets($500+) and spark plugs($600) at around 75,000 miles. And now which really pisses me off…..at around one hundred thousand you’ll need a catalytic converter($2,800)!! This is based off my last three Subaru’s and my 2014 Forester(current vehicle) is where I found out about the Catalytic converter and how it’s normal for them to go around this mileage. This unfortunately will be my last Subie and I’ll be getting a Honda or Toyota.

@@meastabrooks1So where do you get this info? I am on my 3rd Subaru. Had an 11 and 14 Forester both were traded with around 200,000km (120,000 miles) and now a 17 Outback with 160,000 km . Never had, or even heard of ANY of these issues. Plugs were no more expensive than any other car. Had them installed at an independent shop. Had the CVT fluid changed at 100,000 km, and will have it and coolant replaced soon.

@@ericripley9739, like I said these issues I e had with all of my Subarus except for the catalytic converter which happened on my current 14 Forester. Everyone knows about the valve cover gasket problem at around 75,000 miles. Maybe you don’t care that the leak oil. The spark plug complaint that I have with my newer one is that it’s much harder to install and most shops want $500 here in CO. I’m happy for you and being able to avoid problems I have and numerous other Subaru owners go through.

But as I said, I haven't had a problem yet and several friends and relatives have Subarus ( bro in law is on his 5th) and I don't think anyone of them has had any of these problems. I really like Nissan's idea of putting the blindspot warning indicator inside on the Pillar rather than on the side mirrors where it is at the very edge of the peripheral vision and is almost useless when snowing.

We have two suby’s for the exact reasons you gave doing your crosstrek review. Great cars, great reliability. Our 2011 outback has 255,000 + km on it and shows no signs of giving up the ghost yet. I trust our 2018 crosstrek will be the same.

I don't find the Hyundai Santa Fe to be too big, it is wider than the Tucson which you may find to be a better size. One crossover you may really like because of the seating position is the Volvo XC40, you sit up and over the dash, it's not the biggest vehicle but I know you would like the comfort level it offers.

Great review as usual. I have just ordered a Corolla Cross. We currently have a 14 year old Corolla that has been absolutely bullet proof for reliability. Though the Cross may be underpowered, I'll take a non turbo charged engine every time. Automotive Engineers have been challenged with providing improved fuel efficiency while also delivering a spirited drive; hence all of the turbo engines. I believe that Customers are going to be very disappointed at 100,000 km + when they begin experiencing significant and expensive turbo related problems and carbon build-up. My advice.....pass on the turbos if possible.

@@victorteran9766 I found an Infiniti FX45 ...it has AWD,Nav,Sunroof a great sounding V8. My car sold for 50K brand new and I was able to get it for 10K. I have a BMW Wagon that I am able to keep and now have 2 cars suitable for my transportation needs. Both cars were 1 owner trade -ins that I researched before purchased and have not been disappointed. I love new cars...not a fan of new car prices. This is an acceptable compromise for me.

I'm Leasing a 22 Kona SEL AWD. Turned in a 19 SE AWD. They're not bad cars. Not a lot of room inside. Sometimes I feel the Engine could be a bit more powerful. MPG's are Great. AWD(19 SE) pulled me through Winter without a problem. I have a Motorola Power G(22 model) phone that has an issue with Contact Download onto the radio. Not sure if its the Radio or the Phone??

Personally your dislikes of the CX30 are the reasons I like the CX30. No pano, no problem, as I don’t carry passengers in the rear, which is all a pano benefits. Keep in mind the cost to repair or replace the glass too. Too small compared to others, no problem, I don’t require extra wasted space and if I needed it I would look at compact SUVs. Touchscreen perfect, works excellent and unlike my XC40 it doesn’t end up looking smudgy after one day. To each is own and am thinking the 3/30 series is a perfect fit. Keep up the great reviews you two, best in the industry.

Great video! I’m currently deciding between the Corolla Cross LE and the Crosstrek Outdoor. There are pros and cons to each that I could live with, but the AWD systems are my main concern. It seems like most people agree that Subaru is the better system. Do you guys have thoughts on that? Another thing holding me back from the Subaru is the seating position - I wish it was higher up like the Corolla Cross.

I ordered an outdoor crosstrek and I'm very excited about it, especially living in northern canada (NWT). After test driving a crosstrek sport I'm a little worried now because of my low back condition. I noticed it tends to flare up some low back pain. So I'm on the fence again now. Fortunately the edmonton dealership seems pretty nonchalant about withdrawing the order. But it was soooo nice to drive, and that was the one with the smaller engine :X

I totally agree with your top 5. Subaru Crosstrek (XV in the U.K.) are good looking and as you say very practical. I have the CX-30 and the CVT is my only small gripe with it hesitating when pulling away after just stopping at junctions but quality is way up there with the best of them. You both do really excellent videos with great knowledge.

I'm an absolute fan of Toyota. And I just love the fact that they are the leader of hybrid cars BUT they don't have any Hybrid Sport car, they stick with good recipes like we love. Toyota knows that Hybrids are good, but they don't want this in their sport cars because it's killing the passion of a sport car. I just admire this brand

We just purchased a 2023 Seltos SX (awaiting delivery) to find out the Canadian model has the extra options not available in the USA. We don't get the heated steering wheel, heated back seats, vented front seats or HUD (Heads Up Display). Looking forward to the 1.6 turbo drivetrain.

Love the Crosstrek, but I don't understand why its fuel economy is so low even in the (plug-in) hybrid model, considering the RAV4 Prime and Escape's exceptional mpg.

Good choice on Crosstrek! 👍🏻 It’s gives more room for tall guy like Zack in 2nd row. I am sad Kona didn’t make it to #1. I like Kona because choice engines. I laughed at beginning of the video because a guy was walking with his dog pass there and he did twice, second time, he was out jogging. 😆 I had see him a few times in previous videos. 😆 Great video guys! 👍🏻👍🏻

Yes, that person always jogs around when we are doing our reviews...lol! I agree, the Kona is an excellent choice with so many powertrains to choose from. It just might not work for everyone because it is a small crossover. Fun to drive though!

As a Subaru owner for over twenty years, everyone should know that if you plan on keeping this vehicle or any other Subaru the maintenance becomes very pricey! Valve cover gaskets and a catalytic converter will put you at around $4,000.

I’ve driven 2 forester XTs to 150,000 miles and no head gasket problems. Dealer service every time. Will be buying another forester XT.

The VW' Sportwagen, even though, a very nice car, was simply not selling in Canada ! Same with the Gulf, quickly losing ground and not enough power and its reliability was always in question, whatever true or false ! And, the Hyundai/Kia smaller SUVs / cars had taken over that section of the market ; prices played into the equation... TAOS was a compromise to compete with the Japanese /Koreans cars ! Time will tell !

I'll say as a trailblazer owner, it's a great bang for the buck, but there are better options out there. I got a great deal right before the chip shortage, but after my warranty ends I'll probably trade it in. There are some things that are annoying.

Of them, the Chevy Trailblazer (and corporate twin Buick Encore GX) with the 1.3L AWD - not other verions with CVT transmission - is the only one that can be 4 wheels down towed behind an RV. Makes the decision easy - even if planning possibility of RV in future - as the others elected not to support that market. The Subaru with manual transmission is rumored to be able to, but it is not officially supported by Subaru.

The CrossTrek was my 2nd choice in car-buying consideration. #2 because the 2021 model fully loaded didn't have a USB port for the rear passengers. I ended up buying the 2021 Audi Q3 🖖😎

In the Limited, there are 2 USB ports inside the center console to reach the back passengers easily. They're about 6" away from where they'd be if mounted on the backside of the console. I take it you missed that part. 🤷‍♂️

It's too bad with the price of gas that sub compacts in general aren't on a radar. I have a 2020 Yaris HB which is basically a Mazda 2. It has a pretty good interior, and 700km a tank. I know I'm the minority, but I'd take a $18000 everyday car with some good options and great milage any day.
