@@star915 I honestly don't see the rationale for plug ins. However i do hope that EV battery tech develops to the point when its environmentally feasible and mainstream. @rogergeyer98519 ай бұрын
@@z1az285: It's just different points along the spectrum. Plugin hybrids have NO range anxiety. They let people who don't drive a lot (like me, being retired) have pure BEV more 99% of the time (and thus burn almost NO gasoline). But they don't have the MASSIVE battery and the service issues (like having to go to the dealer) that BEV's do. For me, it's an HEV or a PHEV next time -- and it will depend on what's available -- not on being married to either one. But it will be a LONG time before everyone can have an affordable BEV, so alternatives are good for consumers.

@@rogergeyer9851 i agree with your points about plug ins wrt no range anxiety plus being able to drive for 40 miles or so purely on battery charge (using the prius as an example), however i read an article that indicated plug ins on average have less reliability (more service repairs / dealer visits on average) than ICE/ hybrid or EVs. Now the study didn't distinguish between brands and im sure some like toyota wouldn't have as many issues as say Hyundai or BMW, but be that as it may many hybrids seem to have found the sweet spot both from a performance/range/ reliability POV. We will see, ultimately battery tech is improving all the time and who knows? lets see what happens.

In the USA Toyota does not make many features standard at all. In the LE you get very little. Cloth seats with no power and no heat. You need to get the Convenience Package to get a power drivers seat, no power passenger seat. That is $32k. The SE starts at about $34k and you get a power driver seat only. No heat and no passenger power seat. This means you must go upgrading to the XSE or XLE. That’s about $41k. It drives smooth and does get 45-50mpg. Hey guys. Good review like usual. Since you quote prices in USD and CND s it possible you can quote MPG in imperial gallon for Canadian drivers? Maybe a question for your Coffee Questions and Cars episode? For example 5.1 liters per 100 klm is 55.39 miles per imperial gallon...Yes/no? By the way I'm currently getting 5.2 liters per 100 klm's with my 2023 Venza in the city. That's not using eco mode and a lot of times using sport mode. I have learned a few tricks to get the best mileage out of my hybrid but consider myself an average driver, not slow or super aggressive. Previously owned a Rav4 Hybrid as well. Some tricks are how you use the climate control and even cruise control at say 80 KPH. I find using cruise at that speed it won't go into EV mode. At highway speeds it won't go into EV mode that's why usually a hybrid is better in the city. Interesting to see the Camry getting the same at highway speeds, very impressive. PS...I don't get near 5.2 in the winter but all vehicles loose a fair bit in the winter and even EV's loose a lot of range in the winter.😉

You're ON the INTERNET. So you can't do a simple imperial gallon conversion, given you're concerned about CANADA? Really? I googled it in 10 seconds to type it in and get a LOT of consistent hits. Given the small price premium on Toyota HEV's vs. the pure ICE's, the wonderful mileage on the HEV's makes them a NO Brainer, just on economics. (Real world, with all the traffic lights, my 2017 Camry only gets 20 city mpg). Gasoline is EXPENSIVE over time. Then you add in the FACT of worsening AGW, and how do you NOT want a hybrid (I understand that BEV's aren't ready for prime time for many, and aren't in high enough production or with good enough charging infrastructure for quite a while yet, overall).

I really wish Toyota would offer memory seats on the XSE trim. Love the look of the XSE, but with no memory seat function, that is a deal breaker when you have a family of three drivers.

20 years ago, I’d buy the Camry but I’m getting old , want the Lexus NX or RX.

As if being old matters. I'm a senior citizen and a base Camry is more than I need.

Looks great! Do I have this right, that this car has the 5th gen hybrid system and a heads up display, but the Crown Signia uses the 4th gen and doesn't offer a heads up display? If true, I don't get it as I thought Crown was supposed to be a more premium vehicle...? Also, where is the new Lexus ES???

Wish Toyota had the hybrid max engine with automatic transmission in Camry. Not loving the CVT transmission

When going 10MPH below the speed limit due to someone at the front of a line of cars, it's almost a sure thing it's someone in a Camry or any Buick.

You went straight from saying you had to slouch a little bit in the backseat, but, again, when you mentioned rear room you didn't mention the comparison headroom between Camry and Accord. Let me find out 😊

The XLE looks awesome in that teal metallic paint color. Very Lexus like. Speaking of Lexus, any word on an updated ES model? Thanks 👍

Looks good. Not too crazy about a hybrid and I noticed that there doesn't seem to be a place for the front license plate. Has it been designed to only allow the plate on the back.

Hey ...what is your value for money trim for this new Toyota Camry??
@andreaspencer98139 ай бұрын
The SE Upgrade trim whether its FWD or AWD others a lot of value. The top XSE and XLE trims have many of the extra features but if you are looking for a well priced Camry that comes nicely equipped, the SE Upgrade is a good one.
