I feel like I understood the reason why my children sometimes say "Why do most of our ELT teachers leave the school in a year?" It's very interesting topic, thanks for sharing!!
I find this topic very interesting. It was very informative to learn about the specific roadmap and issues that the two of you have been facing and how you have survived amidst the issues that need to be changed, such as Japan's education system and employment system.

Thank you guys for the great topics every time. It’s much fun and helpful to keep listening skills to me. I would say that the best way to improve English is to make friends. Luckily I have a lot of friends from Turkey, Korea and something there and still we meet on zoom once a week wherever we are, which is amazing. I miss all of the US like people, culture and Chicago winter, which is crazy though. Haha. Thanks again. See you !!
The teacher who came up to you didn’t mean to insult you, I reckon. You're energetic and highly skilled as a teacher, so he/she talked to you like that!
It was so interesting topic! Also, I think you two are so passionate people👏 I respect you both🙌

When did ALT system start?🤔 When I was a student, there wasn't ALT both at junior and high. So I had to ask what exactly ALT was when I've heard of it from someone for the first time! 😅😂

Wow, that was very informative. I would be happy to learn about the trends among English teachers working at international schools in Japan!
I totally agree with you guys. I’m Japanese my first language is also Japanese. Actually I used to work with ALT as English teacher at elementary school though, I was sometimes upset to 教育委員会 because they preferred class teachers who don’t speak English at all that gave just 5-10 minutes to ALT for the class and the kids had only few minutes for speaking I mean one way teaching. The ALT and I had own style but the didn’t like that. Also the other teachers except me didn’t talk to her in the teachers office and then she looked so bored. Actually I’m back to Japan from the US last summer after I was in Chicago for 5 years because of my husband’s job so my English skills improved a lot than when I was in Japan before. However I don’t feel like working in school any more I could do though.

I feel so sorry that a lot of ALTs having a hard time. In my prefecture, I know an ALT hired after JET program and works as a coordinator for ALTs at education board. There are some techers hired at public IB schools with special teachers licence given by education board. In private schools or IB schools, you can see a lot of foreign teachers working full time. As you say, may be they need TESOL, teaching licence in their countries, degree of education or any qualifications.
It is really a great topic. Thank you for sharing the experience in ALT. To be honest, I think our government people should know about this if they want to change our education system. Great video, thanks!

Hello!! Asa! I am also an ALT here in Japan. I learned something new about ALTs. Hope I can be in your podcast.
I really appreciate my ALT teachers in high school. They gave me opportunities to get interested in foreign cultures and helped me a lot to improve my English.

Austin, if you want to be an English teacher at schools in Japan, you do have options without the teaching certificate which JTEs have or even a master's degree. Just a few examples.....

Thanks for providing the information (even though the primary purpose of it might be to provide native English conversation for the viewers). I'm pretty sure this country needs it for the following, as sugarcoating something that's not actually good seems quite inhumane treatment, and I also don't think people who grew up in the country have good potentials to change or improve the society by only themselves (for themselves either). Looking at the country since little...
In Japan other places are same situation. Old people laver center. We called "silver jinzai center " more than disgusting. They pull out money 4000yen from 7000yen the salary. Per day.

Yes😅. I know ALT company is bad. Because they pulled out the money from teachers salaries 70000yen!! Per month😢. It's disgusting 😒. Why they do it? Japanese government is collapse. The education ministry ,they want get kick back money. Maybe they have to pass the mony to politicians 🤔.
