Moved To The Outback

We have actually made the move after talking about it for a while, this almost outback is very green this time of the year. If you watch you will see why i don't think i will be coming back to the city much.

I discovered your channel looking for what it's TRULY like to know Australian culture, to be in Australia, my dream destination. Have searched for radio clips of the past, news stories, even Gough Whitlam, Smacka Fitzgerald, and Bob Hawke! And I'm just a guy in Miami who's also an amateur radio operator. But to my delight I discovered this channel with your vintage Australian recorders and transmitting equipment. Then realized you were in news yourself, and your video "in a day's work 1992" was an eye opener with yourself right in the middle of the action. 60's and 70's recordings, Clive Robertson, and finally your video of Citizens Streaming News, and your commentary on the old journalism vs. today was golden. I just want you to know how much you are appreciated and how in debt we are to your historical archive. Means more than you can imagine. Thank you!

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Australian culture and lifestyle is somewhere between English and Nth American and i find i can feel at home in both places, going by the times i have visited them. Away from the cities the Australian identity is a reflection on the landscapes and space.

@@vk3ase I appreciate your reply as I wanted you to see this comment so that you are reminded of the power of KZbin where one can have an impact on anyone anywhere. Great technological times we live in. I genuinely believe that I'd be right at home in places like Melbourne, maybe even Sydney in the summer, as it seems the parallels to Miami are enormous. Although the older architecture in your country is very much like the Wild West era of America, have a look at the houses in the suburbs of small towns like Kendall and Westchester (in Miami) and they are almost the same! Different to any other part of the US. Fascinating for sure. Please always keep on with both your brilliant channels! 73

Yes even at the relatively low frequency's loss is quite substantial after a few hundred meters.

@@vk3ase It becomes more like "ohmic" loss down at broadcast or longwave frequencies. Took me a bit to get it when I first realised what was going on. Then because it's always on power and it's usually AM with processed audio. There is a bit more current in the coax. Down there the "pf per meter" will allow full power will reach the end of 160m run (1 wavelength at 1611khz). Even with RG213.... But the DC ohmic resistance won't do you any favours! You'd still run LDF450 (or equivalent) minimum. What about a remote setup? Where only the display data and the audio comes and goes from the "actual hut"? cheers
