Movement Story: A Therapist Uses Dance to Uproot Oppression

“What you will experience is a story about me and the freedom that I initially experienced after taking MDMA. Freedom for the first time, in my body. What you will also see is the trauma that resurfaced and the way that my body experienced the trauma,” explains MAPS MDMA therapist Sara Reed, LMFT, as she introduces Movement Story: A Therapist Uses Dance to Uproot Oppression. Sara performs with Camille Barton at MAPS’ Psychedelics & Cultural Trauma workshop in Louisville, KY, in August 2019. We share this painful and triumphant piece as a reminder that healing is possible, but as Audre Lorde writes, “survival is survival and not just a walk through the rain.”
