Omw back home right now from my climbing adventures with my son for his 21st bday. For our last day we decided to go back to the local climbing gym for one last session. Since I only started climbing 3 weeks or so ago, I was super happy to get my PR of 5.10c, but that was overshadowed by seeing this master climber walk around the gym! Didn't want to bother him since he was teaching, but during a break I confirmed that he is the man himself and he was super cool and gracious to take a selfie with me. Really made my day to be able to meet someone who has helped me advance so much over a short period of time!

As always, well explained and very useful information. For older and slightly heavier ;) climbers like myself these kind of technics and understanding of the mechanics of climbing have allowed me to climb at a decent level without the need for brute force climbing often seen in younger climbers, who gain even more when they incorporate such techniques to their own climbing.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your videos on the higher levels! It seems I've been stuck in V4 for longer than I'd care to admit. Your videos are amazing. Please keep them coming. My only critique is that loud S sounds (I think it's called popping) get picked up by this mic, so I can't listen on headphones loud enough to hear clearly. I know this is already an old video, and you may have changed hardware/software already. Please keep the great content coming!

This is helpful, I’m stuck between V2 becoming easy and V3 I can’t get off the of ground most times, same with Autos I’m stuck between 5.9 becoming easy and 5.10 being the bane of my existence. I don’t know what to do with my feet most of the time

this is pretty much where I am level wise- a lot more emphasis on the feet. Still learning the overhang techniques (twisting doesn't come naturally yet). As well as smears, the rockover is a crucial skill for slabs at this stage. There's also a point towards the end of v2 where strength alone doesn't get you as far - read the route

Just started climbing. Went on my fifth run yesterday and felt so stuck with the V2s. Thank you for this video -- it really clarifies the difficulties I had yesterday. Any tips about maintaining stamina/strength/endurance for us beginners who are hoping to have a solid hour of climbing? I was wiped 30 minutes in and found myself falling off 80% of the new problems I tried.
@movementforclimbers Жыл бұрын
I'd say take longer breaks between goes. Climbers always joke that bouldering is like 90% socializing and 10% climbing. If you're working problems that are harder for you (and you're getting about halfway through the climb) take about 3-5 minutes in between attempts. Also, just being consistent with your climbing and not overtraining will quickly build up your fitness for longer sessions. Keep at it!

Dude, at my gym we have Crimpy underhung routes that are rated V1...I, and most people who aren’t on the climbing team, hate bouldering there because the routes are graded about 2-3 grades too hard. Awesome video btw...✌🏽
@alexgalays9104 жыл бұрын
Crimps will destroy your fingers fast if you keep on trying those a lot. I know at least one gym like that and I try to avoid them. It means the setters have no imagination and think difficulty MUST mean small holds. It's really dumb to break your fingers because your gym is all about crimps. Normally you would train crimps a little bit then try and find non crimpy problems to finish your session: sloppers, volumes, things you can easily 3-finger drag, etc. Variation is key but injuring a pulley will take you back months... You CAN'T fast-forward your progress on crimps, you just have to be super patient, especially if you're not a light weight. Avoid these overcooked crimpy problems completely or just give them one try once in a while to see where your progress is at.
