Welcome to Unbreakable (saga) The Unbreakable trilogy, also known as the Eastrail 177 Trilogy, is an thriller and psychological horror film series. The films were written, produced, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The trilogy consists of Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016), and Glass (2019).

One of the things I love about this movie is that it's shot in such a way that if you freeze-frame it, the scenes look like panels from a comic - one of the best examples is when David stands up after pulling himself out of the pool - the angle showing his feet and cape with the two kids in the distance is exactly how it would be drawn in a comic.
@CopiousDoinksLLC
@CopiousDoinksLLC Жыл бұрын
It goes a little deeper than that - if you pay attention, you'll notice that almost all of the scenes dealing with David's 'awakening' as a superhero feature the characters being framed by a rectangular piece of the background/foreground around them as if they were featured inside of a comic panel.

It's not that Elijah's character sought out to become a villian but more that he had become obsessed with discovering the purpose of his existence and understanding why he should be born under such uniquely extreme circumstances. By Elijah finding David he had been able to confirm his theories and in doing so answer a question that has plagued him most his life; as a consequence Elijah was also able to remove the sadness that both him and David shared in not knowing what the purpose in life had been. For a superhero movie that was meant to be based in reality, M. Night certainly took the cake with this film which has been a favorite of mines since I was a kid!

You spotted the colors, but the reason for them was that comic characters have a color scheme. David's was green. There's a lot of symbolism here that shows how superheroes could be in the real world. The same director did one called Split several years later, but it explores the same idea and themes. It would be worth watching soon when things from this are still fresh in mind.

This was the epitome of M Night. He had several decent movies, and a weird period before Split came out and made him relevant again. The movie Glass had so much potential, especially coming off the success and really good story of Split, James McAvoy was phenomenal in it. But, Glass is M Night at his worst, IMO. Still, Unbreakable is top notch.

@westutterforever686 Decent, as in passible. Signs and The Village were ok. Lady In The Lake and The Happening weren't great, but they were solid.

Orange and Purple are on exact opposite sides of the color wheel. Except for white and black, it is the strongest visual contrast we can see as humans.

Hey there, you awesome person !!! The store associate who told Elijah that he "was gonna call Five-0" was referring to "calling the cops". Five-0 refers to the TV show, Hawaii Five-0, as Five-0 spells 50, as in the 50th state ... that's what the call the police in Hawaii, Five-0.

Those were the times Shyamalan actually cared about making great movies.

I really liked this movie. When I first saw it, I was dealing with intense stress, so as I recall I had to stop the movie in the middle and finish it later. Still, I think I like this movie the most of all of Shyamalan's work. I wish he had been able to keep up his style consistently, but the movies steadily got worse, maybe with the exception of Split.

5-0 is code for police. It's from the old TV show Hawaii 5-0 People will lie to you and say that it's from the recent reboot of the show but they're full of it. Something can never be replaced and Hawaii 5-0 and magnum PI are perfect examples
